AVOID IF U CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY!!!

AVOID IF U CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY!!!
Signed up for the course , was sold the idea of completing level 2 and get a job earning around 14 pounds per hour and the only thing this JOSH guy did to help me get a job was sending me some websites to look for trade people and beg them to take me as their apprentice. The trainers are fantastic ( Laethian and Nil ) but the management is full of scammers , they are quick to charge you with dirty tactics like " there is only one spot available" but after completing the course you left at your own. They could not get nobody from my course a job , so be careful don't fall for this trap .
Also if you are a new to the trade AVOID too ... very disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you feel disappointed and we’d like to provide some important context for anyone reading this.

From the outset, the progression route was clearly explained before enrolment. As someone with no prior trade experience, the agreed pathway was to complete Level 2 and the 18th Edition, gain initial site experience as an electrician’s mate, then progress to Level 3 (2365-03). At that stage, we would either renegotiate an improved rate on your behalf or support you in securing an alternative role, followed by support into the NVQ 2357 once suitable site experience was in place.

Following completion of Level 2 and the 18th Edition, you were supported into paid work as an electrician’s mate on entry-level rates, which reflects industry norms for individuals new to the trade. It’s also important to clarify that support was delayed due to waiting several months for your CV to be provided, which limited what could be done sooner.

The statement that “nobody else on the course got a job” is not accurate. Many learners from the same cohort did progress into work, as reflected in the wider body of verified reviews.

We’re disappointed to see a named member of staff criticised, particularly when there is extensive positive feedback recognising the genuine support provided. That said, we remain open to constructive dialogue and are always willing to continue supporting learners who engage with us.

If you would like to discuss your situation further, we encourage you to contact the team directly so this can be addressed properly.

Grateful to be back in the trade thanks to Elec Training

I was an electrician for over 15 years in Portugal, and when I came to the UK it was with great surprise when I realised that I couldn't continue working without obtaining British qualifications. It was frustrating, I had the knowledge and experience, but nobody would give me a chance.

Luckily, I found Elec Training. They did a fantastic job of helping me through the training and I'm especially grateful to Ben and Malcolm for their indispensable support throughout the process.

I also struggled to find work because I didn't have a car, but Josh went the extra mile and managed to find me a job in electrical work within walking distance. I'm very happy to finally be back working in the electrical industry and building my career in the UK.

Best regards

Huge credit to Ben and Malcolm for guiding you through the training, and to Josh for going the extra mile to secure a local role that suited your situation.

Do not recommend for the price

The positive is that I now have my qualification, and the rest is negative. I hope the training centre takes these points and improves it for future adults paying £3000+ for a course.

Recruitment does not start looking for jobs until after you finish the course, I don't think anyone on our course has work found for them. We didn’t even meet Josh until week 4.

Waited over a month for certificates to come through.

Weren't told about an exam we had on the first couple of days so no way to prepare for that.

The sales people are seriously there to get you signed on and get the money, they'll sell you the dream and get the money out of you.

In general it's very poorly ran, there's no structure, and no organisation. Laptops were unavailable, textbooks weren't ordered in time for the lessons so we wasted days waiting for them.

In regards to our tutor Laeth, he was great, makes learning really fun, and a really great guy. Definitely ask for him as your tutor.

Firstly I want to say thank you for the review, positive or negative we always welcome feedback. We left this for a few weeks before we responded to make sure the changes we made were robust. So we will address each one.

Recruitment does not start looking for jobs until after you finish the course, I don't think anyone on our course has work found for them.

With out any previous experience its difficult for us to start recruitment before that, trying to get you work with no qualifications and experience is really hard, hence why we start after you have passed. Across the 2 cohorts (18 in total), 9 did not engage with us ie did not send in their CV’s, 4 of the 9 went on to do their 2365-03, 5 of the 9 are in full time work. From the last update from our recruitment team, yourself and your partner are now in full time work.

Waited over a month for certificates to come through – we cant control this, the awarding body will send these out, normally take anything between 2 weeks and 8 weeks.

We weren't told about an exam we had on the first couple of days, so there is no way to prepare for that. Hold our hands up here, you should of got an email and a phone call explaining after the online learning was done, to come in and book your exam, the whole online learning part of the module has now been moved to its own server ie elec-online.training, which should stop this from happening.

The salespeople are seriously there to get you signed on and get the money. They'll sell you the dream and get the money out of you. This part we cant agree with, firstly as a company we don’t have aggressive sales techniques, (no one turning up at your house trying to push you to sign contracts), secondly – you and your partner were on a payment plan (we actually don’t do them, but due to your circumstances the consultant got a payment plan signed off for you and your partner), thirdly their was on going dialogue between you and the consultant, even after your training had finished, records of engagement from the recruitment team. If the above was true we as a company would be doing a bad job of taking your money and not supporting you, as more than 50% of the fees are still due but support is still active.

In general, it's very poorly ran, there's no structure and no organisation.
Laptops were unavailable, textbooks weren't ordered in time for the lessons, so we waisted days waiting for them.

Every course has a set structure, as certain perimeters have to be hit to be an approved City & Guilds training centre, from guided learning hours to what’s covered in the syllabus, at times yes, their might be slight adjustments to this due to the class, and other learner needs. The information is readily available, we decide not to give it to learners as it leaves a lot over whelmed and increases anxiety in the class.
textbooks weren't ordered in time for the lessons – this was due to a failure from Amazon losing the delivery, we now just store them on site.

If you don't understand questions, don't expect to get a worthy explanation, so we have found this to be common with some learners not wanting to ask questions in front of the class, we are working on something call askElec, Elecs own ai assistant to help students when they don’t want to ask questions in front of the class.

If you have taken the time to read this review, we want to say thank you, as a good will gesture quote – Gemma10 when booking your course to get 10% off your 18th edition.

Great school

This is a long review. So Tl;DR Excellent school for self funding your training to become an electrician. I went in with no experience and left with a 50k job as an electrical engineer.

Pros:
Commitment post completion of your course to find you a job, with multiple cohorts of 12 students they cant find one for everyone but their careers advisor Josh works round the clock to find you roles. In the end it took me 6 weeks to find a job after completion, and though i found that role myself I would not have passed the interview without Josh's preparation, which included: CV writing support and general career advice, interview practice through the 4 roles he did find me but i didnt get and comprehensive knowledge of the local electrical industries. Josh was able to provide me contacts in the company i got a job in after i told him i was interviewing there which helped a long way. And did similar for other interviews id found myself.

Other post training support i saw were people from previous cohorts coming in for free on the spot training for wiring things not covered in course that a candidate needed for an interview, and a candidate that had to drop out for personal reasons being told they could drop onto a later cohort with no issues. The school really take their graduated students careers in their hands and do what they can to find roles for them. The bulk of the work is on you the candidate, but they do everything they can if you choose to work with them.

Quality of Teaching. We were trained by Wayne, Malcolm and Laithian across the 7 week level 2 course. Their depth of experience both as teachers and trade electricians was great and they were able to identify where we needed support on the fly and they were all friendly and supportive.

There were a number of opportunities for people who were working ahead of the group to gain experience with non course material like wiring showers and fire systems while the rest caught up which was nice.

Atmosphere
The school is relaxed, for the level 2 course we were all adults with previous work experience, and while we had a few jokers in the group Wayne kept them on track and the team on schedule. We were encouraged to support each other and still have a group chat from our cohort up and running.
The 18th edition course had a lot of teenagers just out of college was a lot more noisy and disruptive, but its a quick 1 week course and i found it pretty easy after just having done the 6 weeks of level 2.

Cons
Group size: They kept adding people to course mid way which was a distraction as teacher had to catch up, they added so many in fact that they split the group in half, the part time option for the course seemed a little half baked and id recommend you do full time and start day one to avoid the issues i saw here. That said all those people passed by the end of it so not that big a deal.

Facilities:
The Thomas Street facility was great, with a kitchen, clean bathrooms and up to date, if a little crowded teaching areas.

The Faraday campus was damp, leaking roof, leaking plumbing in their toilet, cold and poorly insulated and missing a front door, though the teaching facilities were better than Thomas Street, with more room and equipment, the comfort was much lower. That said we are manual professionals, its worth it to slog through a flooded bathroom or two to get the qualifications. This wasnt a deal breaker but if you get a choice try to work in Thomas Street.

Thank you for such a thorough and honest review — it really means a lot to the team here at Elec Training. We’re incredibly proud to hear you progressed from having no prior experience to landing a £50K role as an electrical engineer — a huge achievement and well deserved.

It’s great to know the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (C&G 2365-02) delivered both in terms of teaching and hands-on learning. We’ll make sure Wayne, Malcolm, and Laethian see your kind words — they’re committed to giving every learner the support they need to succeed. Huge credit to Josh as well for his continued aftercare and interview support, which you clearly made the most of.

We really value your feedback about the facilities and course structure — it’s helpful and appreciated. We’re always working to improve both campuses, and your points will be taken seriously. Thanks again for sharing your experience so openly and for recommending Elec Training to others looking to start a career in the trade.

Sir Laethian, Steve & Ben

Laethian is brilliant tutor and taught me so much durring the 4 weeks and feel confident to go out and carry out domestic electrical installs. He also is down to earth easily approachable if you don't understand something. Also you can have banter with him. He is by far the best tutor I have ever had. Hopefully will be able to do my level 3 with him. He is a credit to your company! Also shout out to Steve bloke is also a legend any questions or unsure of anything always quick to respond and happy to help. Not just sell you the dream. Also shout out to Ben who is also a legend and credit to your company if it wasn't for all his help and support would not have passed my 18th first time. Cannot fault him.
