Shocking customer service

Their engineering design is good but unfortunately their project management is poor and they do not know how to communicate with customers. 6 months on, I am still waiting for final resolution of issues with the installation

We had Delayed installation, poor communication, and no proper handovera heat pump and underfloor…

We had a heat pump and underfloor heating system installed by Emerging Living Technologies, and unfortunately the experience has been extremely poor from start to finish.

At the point of sale, we were assured that all work would be carried out by in-house engineers and that no subcontractors would be used. This was a key factor in choosing the company. However, a third-party installer was used, which directly contradicted what we were told.

The installation itself was heavily delayed and poorly coordinated. On the first day, installers arrived without essential materials including piping, the heat pump, and the cylinder. Deliveries were repeatedly delayed, often after being promised “the next day,” and we had to chase updates constantly with over 30 phone calls, receiving very little communication in return.

One of the assigned engineers failed to attend on multiple occasions without any communication, and calls to both the engineer and the company frequently went unanswered. Emails were also regularly not responded to, making it extremely difficult to get any clear updates or resolution.

We were also repeatedly promised callbacks from senior management, including a director. We were told on multiple occasions that they would call us back, however these calls never materialised. Various reasons were given at different times (including being on holiday, in hospital, and attending a funeral), but despite assurances that we would receive a call each day, no contact was made.

During the installation, we were informed that that materials could not be obtained due to supplier account issues. While we cannot verify these matters independently, they were communicated to us during the course of the project and contributed to further delays and uncertainty.

The project caused major disruption to our home. We removed our kitchen in preparation based on their schedule and were left without cooking facilities and without heating for several weeks. Other trades had to be delayed as a result.

The underfloor heating installation was also disorganised, with workers arriving without materials or plans, and in some cases leaving work incomplete due to lack of instruction.

We raised a formal complaint, and although a response was received, the commitments made (including a completion plan and improved communication) were not followed through.

As of now, we have been told the system is “working,” however:

It has not been formally commissioned
We have had no handover or demonstration
We have not been shown how to use or operate the system

This leaves us with little confidence that the system has been properly completed or is safe and functioning as it should.

To be fair, the subcontractors themselves were professional and did their best in difficult circumstances, but the overall project management, communication, and delivery from Emerging Living Technologies has been extremely disappointing.

We would not recommend this company based on our experience.

EDIT - Managed to get a call back from director, will go through and see what they say and update the review further.

Further Edit - (14/04/2026)
We received a visit from the ELT Project manager today, We finally had a handover and shown how the system works, they have taken a list of all snags and have contacted their install partners to get those things fixed and to work out some sort of compensation. Although this doesn't negate the experience we have had during the whole process, this is somewhat progress towards a resolution. I will update further when I receive further details or progress is made.

1 Year On - nothing but pain dealing with them

⚠️ Based on our experience, we would strongly caution anyone considering ELT Heat. ⚠️

One year after “commissioning”, our system still has a series of unresolved issues and performance has fallen significantly short of what was promised. Our electricity costs have averaged £300–£400/month - far above the estimates - while faults such as an exposed copper pipe (see photo) and zoning issues remain unresolved (e.g. upstairs heating switching off when downstairs heating is turned off).

ELT Heat - if you see this - these issues are still outstanding. If you have time to respond to this review, please prioritise fixing the issues instead, such as that exposed copper pipe.

In our experience, this has been a repeated cycle of assurances followed by delays, with limited follow-through unless chased multiple times. Even when responses are received, they have not resulted in clear or lasting resolutions.

The most frustrating aspect has been how performance concerns were handled. After months of chasing and escalating the matter to governing bodies, a very brief visit was carried out and a report produced based on a single snapshot of usage (taken at one point in time), despite longer-term usage data being available in the system controller. This is extremely disappointing, and hard to have any confidence left for them to meaningfully rectify the issues.

We are now escalating this through the relevant bodies. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that others proceed with caution - please do your research, and ensure that you engage a company that provides clear, enforceable commitments on performance, communication, and aftercare before proceeding.

Solar Panel disaster !!

Heat pump system installed which was great. The solar panel side of things has been a joke to date. Still waiting for my delivery and install since the 16th March. Was told there was a problem with suppliers but now everyone has gone AWOL and no one answers my calls.
Not too happy at the moment hence this review.
Be weary !

Very, very pleased with the system

ELT were very helpful during the initial quotation process. Answering lots of questions - I wanted a few "non-standard" bits done. They found out the additional information so I went ahead.
Due to delivery issues it took slightly longer than planned. I was kept informed at all stages as to what was going on. That said it went smoothly, and looks really good.
There were a few teething problems with "my extras" but ELT sorted them out.
I have had the system nearly six months and I am very pleased with it. We are still getting used to the differences e.g. warming the house earlier. But the house is as warm as with the gas boiler.
And once we disconnect the gas there will be another £100 per year saving.

Very pleased with my new system

I had 10 panels and a battery installed in the summer. Its performing really well and generating more that expected now in the winter. Wish I had done this years ago. Emerging living technologies were great and pleased I went with the solar skirting, over the bird netting - looks a lot nicer.

Cowboy installers, immoral management

Me and my family are year long victims from ELT heat - the issues with them are endless from the moment we engaged them.

First red signal - they will ask for almost FULL payment (95% of my customer's portion) up front. This is a warning sign as their workmanship and work ethic are so so bad.

The promised one one week install turned out to be a year long battle - first with the delays, then the continuous leaks ( which they will blame it being the manufacturer's fault, when it was all down to the competency of their team), and quite frankly I've met some of the worst trades with the worst work ethic, which is an extension of the management - continuous lies, over-selling, etc, all to get the government grants.

What transpired for us is continuous leaks from the radiators, negligence from their install team to leave a draining radiator that led to a massive leak to our GF, and months and months of delays that delayed our painting and move in date. We had no choice but had to conduct our painting first before their install, which of course with their reckless team they had damaged multiple freshly painted walls.

Worst of all, they claimed to have commissioned the system in March in order to get paid the government grant, when the installation was no way near functional. Come October time, more than 8 months post install when we had to turn on the heating, when we realized all the issues with the heating installation work. They had blamed Valiant for the issues where, the poor valiant engineer who came out more than 5 times to check, when they realized that it was the pipework configuration that was all wrong. It was through a new engineer that they hired ( the only competent and moral person from their team), that uncovered all the pipework issues ( including the pipework that has conflicting flows, flows that are going in conflicting directions, etc), that the heating is finally remotely able to be turned on. There was no way the system would be functional until this point, more than 8 months post 'commissioning'.

In the meantime, we were promised a handyman that would fix all the damages that they caused back in June, design drawings back in March, and > 6 months on we are still chasing. The management team are extremely irresponsible and continues to dodge responsibility.

The current system doesn't function in cold weather, which completely defies the purpose of having heating. We are STILL waiting for them to fix the problems with heating and the damages, and quite frankly we have lost any bit of trust with them to put things right.

As with the poor old couple who experienced all these leaks, avoid them like the plaque as they are cowboys who are only after government grants - the most incompetent team, along with immoral management ( who keeps feeding us lies), is a true recipe for disaster. Avoid them like the plaque!

We must address the significant inaccuracies / falsehoods in this review. Everyone is entitled to share their experience - but when it comes to gross embellishment, untruths and complete lack of context, we must speak out.

Payment terms: We do not ask for full payment upfront. As an MCS-accredited installer, we take a maximum 25% deposit (insurance-protected). Most of our customers also benefit from the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which we never ask customers to forward-fund.

Leaks: Two minor leaks occurred during the installation. Both were rectified within days of being reported — not "continuous leaks" over months. Of note, there is only one radiator in the property, the remainder being underfloor heating and Thermaskirt. We also note one leak occurred on a part of the system that was inherited rather than installed by our engineers. We of course fixed it notwithstanding.

Commissioning: The system was commissioned in March and demonstrated to be fully functional through documented testing. We have made numerous follow-up visits since (at no charge and without a maintenance contract), and on every occasion the heating has been operating correctly, with room temperatures recorded above 23°C. The installation was subject to audit by Ofgem immediately following commissioning who confirmed that it was rightfully commissioned and all necessary documentation was in place.

Pipework: A minor flow issue was identified and remedied by our engineer. This was unrelated to "conflicting flows" or fundamental pipework configuration, and did not prevent the system from functioning.

Current reported issue: Low / no flow at low external temperatures has been reported. Evidence provided shows secondary controls showing low flow, but also demonstrating room temperatures in excess of 21 degrees. We have asked for diagnostic information from the main control system the next time the reported issue occurs, so we can investigate properly. This information has not yet been provided. We have recently attended twice to inspect the issue and on both occasions the system was working normally. Visiting whilst the issue is not live will get us no further toward a solution. We stand ready to diagnose and remedy the issue when the information is next available.

Damage and drawings: We dispute that our team caused the damage described, but nonetheless offered in good faith to make good. To progress this matter we requested photographs — these arrived only last week after multiple requests.
The schematic was included in the handover pack provided some time ago; a bespoke floor-plan drawing is what has been requested. This was only made clear to us last week and we have since agreed to prepare this bespoke document for you.

Context: We inherited this project from another installer who left you in a difficult position. We have remained committed to it throughout, honouring our professional obligations, despite the abjectly hostile working conditions presented via your approach to managing tradespeople. It is telling that you parted company with at least five building contractors during the wider refurbishment, and our team witnessed you physically assault one of them. We wholly reject the wilful mis-characterisation of our company and our skilled team in your review, and we remain willing to resolve outstanding matters through appropriate channels.

We really want to work with you to ensure the system is as you wish it to be. To do so we appeal to your better nature and ask that you cease this attempt to defame our wonderful team members. Going forward we ask that you engage in a civil manner avoiding the accusations, threats and shouting that have been a regular feature. Please let's work together with dignity to find resolution to all these matters.

With respect,

Emerging Living Technologies

Excellent service for heat pump team

We had a heat pump installed at our place. The engineers did a fantastic job, always keeping us up to date with every stage of the process.
The entire service was well executed. The engineers did a good quality job and explained clearly all the changes needed for the installation.

I can easily recommend them.
