Let’s hear it for the cornflower! The flowers on this Cornflower 1/2 Pint Mug look very happy and sprightly, but did you know that cornflowers were once viewed as a weed in cornfields and nearly wiped out?
Thankfully, cornflowers live on. These cottage-garden plants are as pretty as a picture; we’ve captured every line and shade of their star-like outer florets and blackish buds through the hand-applied litho pattern on this coffee mug.
Did you also know the cornflower is commonly called bachelor's button? In Victorian times,
single young men would tuck one into their jacket buttonhole to signal that they were available for marriage. (Maybe our hand-crafted pottery mug could make a fun present for any unattached friend as a subtle way of advertising their availability?)

I've been waiting for a while for a restock of this design and it was well worth it! It's a beautiful mug. These mugs are great in that they sit firmly on your table or desk due to the design of the straight sides to the bottom- so likelihood of spilling is small- you need to be doing something really reckless to tip them- haha
