Staffordshire pottery was decorated by hand in the 19th-century; it was a time-consuming process and everything changed when printing came along. At Emma Bridgewater, however, we like to do things the traditional way: the damask pattern on our Green Wallpaper 1/2 Pint Mug is inspired by Staffordshire pottery designs and the way in which the patterns were painted by skilled craftspeople. The talented lot at our Stoke-on-Trent factory sponge paint each and every one of these pottery mugs by hand. And, as you can tell from this lovely-looking green mug, they’ve got the process down to a fine T (or dare we say “a fine tea”!).
