Sadly this is the first Emma Bridgewater item that I have been really disappointed with. The duck doesn't sit neatly on the nest in a way you would expect from the pictures - it's lightly balanced and would fall if you were to slightly jiggle the nest (there's no inner lip to hold it on). I thought I was sent a second so got another sent out and this one was even worse, and even had a crack in the nest too. I think it must just be because the nest and lid are 'exchangeable' by design (I've seen rabbits and hens before) but it doesn't feel like a complete item as a result. Very frustrating. So while it looks absolutely gorgeous and I really wanted to love it, it just doesn't work.
