Our house runs 100% off electricity for…

Our house runs 100% off electricity for home heating and water heating. The house is less than 3 years old so unfortunately the government grant was not available. That being said I went with a 9.24KwH system which is 21 panels on the roof. We also got the new Dyness 5KWh battery , this was more than enough to cover us for energy usage. I wanted a local company for ease of after sales service if required and Energytec are local to me and gave a very fair quotation. The installation was fast with less than 2 days on site. The lads installing were very polite and helpful with any questions I had. The owner called to the house twice to ensure that the installation went smooth and well and was very helpful with any questions. We are 3 weeks in and luckily being the end of March , the sun is shining and we are already sending back to the grid. I changed provider to ensure that I got a decent tariff that sells cheap units and will buy back expensive. The APP is easy to use and clear to read. I am looking forward to the summer months this year to hopefully to cover expenses of the winter. The goal is not to have expensive bills ever again. So far so good.

Energitec / SigenStor. We just had a SigenStor pv system with…

We just had a SigenStor pv system with battey storage very recently installed by Energetic of Killarney (energitec.ie), primarily as a means of overcoming Electrical Outages which we seem to get annually, sometimes lasting for more than 48 hours. This system helps to overcome the problem as it is charged by light during the day and by cheap rate electricity at night and stores power in batteries or exports surplus to the national grid. Our installation was completed on the 6th December and that night storm Darragh arrived. Such was the smoothness of the system that we never noticed a general power cut in our village. Over the course of ~18 hours we suffered 5 interruptions amounting to a total of >14 hours off grid with the longest interruption lasting 9.5 hours ( these figures were logged by the electrical management system). Our primary reason for installation was to become independent of electrical interruptions. During the day of the 7th December, there was enough solar energy scavenged to boost the batteries (a few %) and power the c/h system (kero),range cooker (kero), fridge, radio, electric kettle and kitchen lights. It is a system well worth considering to overcome electrical cuts. The installation took 2/2.5 days and the workmanship was excellent. As daylight increases we shall probably export more than we consume so there is probably a payback bonus as well. It will be interesting to see the figures after a year’s usage, this is a learning process for us but so far so good. 11/12/2024
