It is a great website for learning English. Most of the one-on-one teachers are high quality. It is also very convenient because they provide 24-hour lessons. You can log in and choose a course anytime, no matter where you are.

It have been interesting, because I can listen differents people in the world and lessons are very complete.

Misleading subscription practices.

I was sold what was presented as a 2-week trial and sent a $59 payment link, with no clear disclosure that I was entering a 12-month contract with a large early cancellation penalty. During registration I was only asked to accept a privacy policy — there was no explicit acceptance of long-term terms or a 30% penalty fee.

When I tried to cancel shortly after, I was told I must pay over $350 to exit. There is no independent self-cancellation option on their website — cancellation is only possible through contacting an operator, which was never disclosed. The promised onboarding session never happened and I barely used the platform.

This experience felt deceptive and unfair. I would strongly warn potential customers to read every detail and be extremely cautious before paying.

The team is th best

I’ve had a very positive experience with English First. The platform is well structured and focuses on real-life English, not just grammar theory. The group classes are especially useful because they push you to speak, interact, and organize your ideas in real time. Teachers are professional, attentive, and give helpful feedback that actually improves fluency.

I also like the flexibility of the courses. You can move at your own pace, complete short units, and combine structured lessons with practical topics like travel or workplace communication. Even at an advanced level, the content remains relevant and engaging.

Overall, English First helped me gain more confidence, improve my speaking skills, and reach a certified C1 level. I would recommend it to anyone who wants practical, functional English for personal or professional growth.

I am extremely disappointed with EF English Live.

I made a payment even though I did not agree with the subscription. Immediately after the payment, I sent more than seven messages requesting to cancel the service and delete my account. More than 48 hours have passed, and I still have not received any response from customer support.

In addition to this, I was also disappointed with the learning system itself. The platform feels outdated and poorly structured. Lessons are not engaging, and the learning process is not intuitive or effective, especially for beginners. The system does not clearly explain progress, goals, or learning paths, which makes studying confusing and frustrating.

It feels like the company is intentionally ignoring customer requests in order to continue charging payments. Overall, there is no transparency, no accountability, and no respect for the customer.

This is a simple but great plattform. I love my personal classes. It is quickly and easy to get into a personal conversation with native international people.

Your group classes are terrible, not at all educational. Finding a good private tutor requires a lot of trial and error. The AI ​​isn't bad. Theoretical classes are good, but could be better. The worst part is the price-performance ratio. It's very poor. You're setting prices too high for my country, which puts a lot of pressure on people.

Be warned: EF English Live is a scam. I bought a course suggested by their sales representative, but the next month, they automatically charged me double what I had already paid, without my permission! I'm pretty sure their scam is hidden in the tiny print they make you agree to.
They set up a mandatory year-long subscription which they immediately start charging, and there's no way to cancel it. To make things worse, their website doesn't even work! After a few lessons, my account was completely blocked, and I can't log in—which means I can't even get in to try and stop the subscription charges.

You pay for one course, but they eventually start automatically taking money from your account every month without clear consent. You can not stop it.

Posting this as a warning to everyone because I almost got screwed by EF English Live’s sales tactics.

I signed up for a Premium course after an interview with an advisor. I asked point-blank: "Can I cancel anytime for free if the platform does not meet my expectations?" The advisor literally said: "Yes, you can cancel anytime, plus there's a 90-day money-back guarantee."

Fast forward: I wasn’t happy with the platform (bad teachers, useless self-study material), so I wanted to cancel.
Support told me: "Sure, you can cancel... but you have to pay a 30% penalty fee." That’s almost $600 USD.

When I told them their advisor promised it was free, they basically told me the "fine print" in the Terms & Conditions overrides anything a human says to you.
The best part? I requested my data/call recording. They actually sent it to me. I listened to it, and the advisor is on tape lying about the cancellation terms to get me to sign up. When I sent them the timestamp of the lie, they didn't apologize—they just offered me a "15% discount" on the penalty.

They are literally trying to charge me $500+ for a lie they caught themselves telling.

TLDR: EF English Live advisors will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your card info, then hide behind hidden fees.

Unfortunately, my experience was very bad. The customer service was extremely unprofessional and rude. When I told them that I needed time to think and would get back to them because the price was high, I was told, “What is there to think about if you already find the price expensive?” and the call was ended.
This is an online course, yet the price is highly overpriced — $1,200 for only six months. I do not recommend dealing with them.
