I was subscribed to ESET Internet…
I was subscribed to ESET Internet Security for several years but at least a few of those years I had a Trojan on my system that was never detected. I found it myself eventually and ChatGPT helped me remove it. It told me to try Malwarebytes which did most of the work but I had to remove parts of it myself from safe mode. I am shocked the trojan was on my PC for so many years and ESET never found anything even though it was automatically updating itself and always in use.
I know no anti virus claims to be 100% but it makes a mockery of paying for AV when dangerous things like that can get through and not get detected even after years. ESET customer service was unsympathetic too. They just hide behind their 30-day (maximum) refund policy and essentially blaming me for not reporting a threat that their own software failed to see.
I am now just using Simplewall instead and Windows Defender.
Update: ESET’s reply below completely misses the point. The issue isn't that I didn't call support; the issue is that I paid for "Internet Security" for years while a Trojan remained active and undetected by ESET. I eventually discovered and removed it myself
Also the Lack of Accountability: Despite being a loyal customer for years, ESET has offered zero refunds, partial refunds, or even a goodwill gesture despite their product failing to protect me for years.
The "30-day refund policy" is obnoxious too, when your product failed its core purpose for years is a poor way to treat customers.
