I was looking for the official Esta web…
I was looking for the official Esta web site (the one I have always used before), still ended up at Estaservice.us (!) Guess I was stressed out and did not pay enough attention, I payed 88$ (not noticing the dollar sign but unconsciously thinking in my local currency..).
I then tried to call the phone number stated at the bottom of my receipt, only to reach a voice mail box (numerous times, at different times through the day!!). Left a message and never heard back from them. Whomever they might be..
So I was worried this was a scam. Customer service were unable to assure me that my Esta would arrive and be valid -as they only referred me to fill in a form to check my Esta status AND PAY AN ADDITIONAL 39$ TO GET AN ANSWEAR!
I was told to wait for 72 hours, only problem would be - then there would be no time (before my flight) to apply through the (obviously trusted) official web site!
Instead of paying their 39$ for information about my application, I did my own application on the official web page and paid the 14$. A few hours later I had the approved application.
Then, some 30 hours later, the Estaservice Esta arrived. Checking the application number at the official web page returns a valid Esta with a 2 year validation, like it should be.
Now, checking the number of the Esta approval I received directly from the official site, it appears as expired. Guess one cannot have 2 valid Esta visas at the same time..
So: the company delivers, but I have no idea what the advantages of using them would be.
Make sure you are on the official Esta web page (xxxxxx.gov)!!! Pay a lot less AND be allowed to check your status without paying additional fees!!!
