Unacceptable Quality and Lack of Support
I purchased two Mario Bellini sofa-chairs from Eternity Modern about a year and a half ago. The cotton velvet upholstery is beautiful, and the chairs are very comfortable—but I am deeply disappointed in their durability and the company’s lack of support.
About a month ago, a large rip suddenly appeared on one of the chairs, and the second now shows signs of tearing in the same area. These chairs have not been used more than 10–15 times total since purchase, and only by adults. They have been treated with care and absolutely not abused. This level of wear is completely unacceptable, especially given the premium price point.
When I contacted customer service, I was told that the one-year warranty had expired and, because I didn’t purchase an extended warranty, I was simply out of luck. They also said they don’t have any repair technicians in my area. I’ve repeatedly tried to reach a supervisor to ask for help—at the very least for a couple yards of matching fabric so I can have a slipcover made—but have received no response.
This is extremely poor customer service, and the quality of the product is simply not what you’d expect from a company that presents itself as a purveyor of high-end furniture. I expected these chairs to last for years. Instead, they’re falling apart after minimal use—and the company is unwilling to stand behind their product. Very disappointing.
Let me know if you’d like a version that’s even stronger or adapted for a different platform (e.g., Google vs. BBB vs. Yelp). I can also help you draft a follow-up message to a supervisor if you’re still trying to reach someone.
