Difficulties with the test:
I had difficulty getting through the quiz for investors & found some questions rather ambiguous. I’m not a first time investor & do t feel ‘at risk’ but found this approach off-putting. Had I not been very keen to invest I’d have given up. I expect many potential investors will have dropped off - not returning after 14 days.

Fix the questionnaire process please.
The questionnaire to be allowed to invest was near impossible to pass. When did pass only then did you ask the questions about not investing big percentage of my assets.
Why on earth establish at start if you are a small investor as I am.

The "quiz "
The "quiz " to be able to start , at best seems ambiguous even though I fully understand any investment made is just a gamble and everything could be lost , and if you want to make that investment in a local community scheme that has just come to your attention tuff luck it could be too late . So I don't think Ethex is good for community funding, more like a scheme to make some fail ?

The investor appropriateness test is very poor. After 3 attempts I gave up and invested elsewhere.

Making ethical investment harder
Ethex list ways to invest in different projects which are all in some way making the world a better place. Thanks to them I have invested in grassroots social housing and community solar power projects. Unfortunately they then requested a source of wealth check and lost all my documents, their backteam seem incompetent. Very sad and considering withdrawing my investments.

The source of wealth check is an essential anti-money laundering requirement that we adhere to.
Unfortunately, the envelope containing your document did not have our company name on it. We share a building with several other businesses, and the receptionist did not know where to place the envelope, but it was held securely, unopened until they passed the envelope to us when we instigated a search. We have since received it, acted on it, and contacted you.
We value all of our investors and aim to provide high-quality support when needed, so we're sorry that your experience on this occasion was not as smooth as possible.

Despite being an experienced investor I failed your questionnaire 3 times and nearly gave up. Fortunately I passed at the fourth attempt. Following that it took me several attempts before my investment was accepted.

Very Clunky Process
I'm an experienced public company chair and CEO. Your qualifying investor process was awful. I failed twice, couldn't login for a far too long delay, and had to ask advisers how to answer. They couldn't answer correctly - implying the questions are misleading or the answer are wrong. I read all the notes on your website and concluded I would not answer differently, so had to accept gaming the answers by selecting an incorrect answer that apparently you think is correct. I then tried after three weeks and was told I couldn't login at all. After waiting an hour I was let in and finally qualified. I shall be recommending not using you again for future funding rounds, and telling all my contacts not to use you.

Questionnaire for signing up is unclear
The questionnaire for signing up to Ethex is unnecessarily confusing and unclear and many of my fellow potential investors have had problems signing up. This really has to be changed, as it is putting new investors off.

Multiple choice knowledge test…
Multiple choice knowledge test unnecessary, I failed it three times and most of the directors failed it also!! This will put many people off applying for shares. Two boxes to tick - Terms and conditions and I understand the risks etc is surely sufficient.

I am glad there is a way to invest in…
I am glad there is a way to invest in non-profits that are aiming to better society. I do believe that ethex would be wise to encourage investment start-ups to offer all returns to investors rather than investments contributing to 'other'areas not necessarily explained fully in details with the overall aim of returning an average of 7% return to investors. This would align it better with traditional investments I believe.

I'd love to rate Ethex more highly but…
I'd love to rate Ethex more highly but I can't get accurate information for my tax return. Tax statements are incomplete - dealing only with investments where tax is deducted at source. I want to know what has or has not been paid on ALL investments made through the platform, regardless of whether Ethex are the registrar. This would be a whole lot easier if all investees had to make all payments via Ethex. Because they don't, it's impossible to keep track.
