ETS is a SCAM

I am sharing my recent experience for anyone struggling with the take-home test. ETS uses this company, ProctorU, if you're looking to Google a name.

It was beyond horrible, and I feel like my personal safety was violated. Plus, my score was severely damaged due to Proctor's interference.

My issues:

I could not use my ergonomics keyboard to type, which I required for a medical issue.

The Proctor repeatedly interrupted my test because he could not see a door, causing me to experience MASSIVE stress during the exam. It was unprofessional and rude. He was constantly talking and interrupting me, which continuously broke my focus and angered me. I could not concentrate, and my score was severely impacted.

The fact I had to showcase my private living facilities to a stranger on the internet to take an exam is a MAJOR violation of my privacy and safety. That person could have easily tracked down my location, found me in person, and attempted to cause physical harm.

You are apparently recorded the entire time, which is not disclosed upfront. I DID NOT consent to store my video data in their database, and I required proof it had been destroyed. ProctorU has failed to follow up.

Being recorded is another invasion of privacy. When I started the exam, I had to ask the Proctor about being recorded, and he hesitated to confirm. This means he would not have informed me otherwise.

The last time I took the test in person, I was able to use noise-canceling headphones, have proper accommodations, and actually write on paper. If there were locations near me, I would retake the test in person to avoid dealing with the company ProctorU ever again.

Praxis at Home SCAM

Scheduled Praxis At Home. Could not launch the test despite logging in early.

Called Customer Service. Was told to call Proctor U. Called ProctorU was told that they had no record of my account, was told to call ETS, and was hung up on. Called ETS and was told they had to wait a day for a report from ProctorU.

Could not test. Called ETS again and have been on hold for over 30 minutes. ZERO customer service. This company is a SCAM.

There are many reports of this company stealing money from test takers. It is TIME TO END THE ETS.

There is no competition for this company, for many exams, you have to use them. This is completely a SCAM.

Loss:
$160
Cons:
Scam company
Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Nothing to recommend. ETS is a SCAM company.

Test preparation product? False advertisement.

A lot of phone numbers, and no one can solve the problems. Test preparation product? False advertisement. I bought one test prep that was supposed to be interactive, they also let you try it out but once you buy it, is completely different and boring, like the regular one you get with the test purchase.

SCAM!!

I can’t get my test score sent to my university!!!! Their site was “down” in my window to add the test (they don’t send it to your university.) I contacted them within the 3 day window about their faulty site with no reply. I replied over and over again and they keep asking for more information and now $50!!! What a SCAM!!! I could not be more UNHAPPY with their lack of customer service. I hope people from the state read this and find an ethical way to do testing.

Buggy Website Causes Missed Test

Their website is super buggy. I missed a test, because I showed up on the wrong day. They offered no refund.

When rescheduling my test, I found the problem. I selected Tuesday, June 18th, but the site showed Wednesday, June 19th, so I thought that meant there were not tests on the Tuesday. When I went to pay, it said my test was, in fact, on the Tuesday!! I missed the last one because of the same bug on the site. $160USD down the drain.

Be careful booking your tests. PRAXIS ETS DOES NOT CARE AT ALL that it was largely their fault I missed my test.

My experience with praxis ETS proctor and customer service was horrible

I recently had to use the Praxis ETS website to register for an exam, and it was one of the most frustrating online experiences I've ever had. Here are the key issues I encountered:

Confusing Navigation:
The website's layout is cluttered and unintuitive. It took me an excessive amount of time to find the registration section. Important links are buried under multiple layers of menus, making navigation a nightmare.

Slow Loading Times:
Pages load painfully slowly. Even with a fast internet connection, I found myself waiting several seconds for each page to load. This is unacceptable for a website that handles time-sensitive processes like exam registrations.

Poor Mobile Compatibility:
Accessing the site from my smartphone was nearly impossible. The layout did not adapt well to the smaller screen, making buttons and links difficult to click. Considering the importance of mobile accessibility nowadays, this is a significant drawback.

Frequent Errors:
I encountered multiple errors during the registration process. At one point, the site crashed and I had to start over from the beginning. This is extremely frustrating, especially when you're on a tight schedule.

Lack of Clear Instructions:
The instructions provided for registration and payment were vague and unhelpful. I had to search for external guides and forums to understand the process, which shouldn't be necessary for such a critical task.

Inefficient Customer Support:
When I reached out for help, the customer support was slow to respond and not very helpful. I was given generic responses that did not address my specific issues, leading to further delays and frustration.

Overall, the Praxis ETS website needs a complete overhaul. From navigation to performance, every aspect of the site seems designed to test the user's patience rather than facilitate a smooth registration process. Until significant improvements are made, I would recommend preparing for a frustrating experience or seeking alternative ways to handle your exam registration.

I Feel Sorry This University is Existing in USA

I paid for home exam, I needed the exam for the university admission, I was prepared perfectly.
The ETS technician tried to check my system right before the exam to tell me that my microphone is not working properly. She recommended for me to reschedule the exam or to use different computer.
To be sure, I checked the microphone of the computer with IT expert in my home country. He informed me the microphone is working perfectly. Again I used the ETS secure browser to check the equipments which showed that my computer system is completely fine.
I emailed the ETS costumer service to request exam rescheduling or money refunding, they answered me in very rude way. I called them by phone to confirm my request, but they refused to give me any compensation or to provide me with any help.

After studying for 4 years

After studying for four years, this is my only chance to get my license to become a school Psych, and their horrible service is taking away my rights and my opportunities. Who is ready to take a petition to sue them? This needs to be resolved by a Federal court.

Not impressed by the Praxis ETS…

Not impressed by the Praxis ETS company.I had a horrible experience with them today and the “proctor u “ group they use. The proctor messed up by computer, put the test code in, received an error message, and went ahead and rebooted the computer and started deleting things from my recycle bin. When the proctor put the code in the second time it gave an error code saying I couldn’t take the exam because the code had already been used. Now also realize that this second attempt to launch the test was a hour after the start test time. And earlier that morning I had ran the ETS computer diagnostic and everything on my end was running properly. Anyway I am out $160 dollars and the best the proctor could tell me was contact Praxis ETS. When I called praxis ETS I was connected with a woman that said she could not issue me a refund because she needs the proctor’s side of the story. She said, “I understand your frustration, but we have to see what the proctor says.” All I am saying is people wonder why education is a failing industry- the praxis ETS company didn’t care that this wasn’t my fault they just want to line their pockets. They don’t care to help me even when this was an issue on their end. If you get nothing from this review just know the At Home testing option is not worth the headache- drive the hour to the testing center if you are going to spend the money to take the praxis.

Paid 408dollars for a test

Paid 408dollars for a test, were the appointment was at midnight. Should have been stated 12:00am (00:00), because i was sure it was 12 noon. This heavily impacted my overall performance as i had been awake for 16hrs and therefore receives a english test which do not equal to my fluency. Very dissatisfied, and in my perspective (also written by many on reddit) this is a strategy so people need to pay for another test. Sad to see by a non-profit organization which can not give me a new appointment for free or discounted.

Awful Experiences

It is awful that a company like them have a REQUIRED exam for certification but their team cannot bother to respond to problems when the test completely doesn’t work. I sat on an at-home proctored test for 2 hours without even taking the exam. All I received from their proctors was “you need to contact ETS yourself.” It’s awfully disgusting that this is a required test and ETS can’t be bothered by the people who PAY them.

The worst experience ever! Don't pay them

wow I really had to read reviews before I paid $400 for the test I've never been able to pass. Their third party technical support support was resolving the issue during 1 hour and 40 minutes and they asked me to give them the full access to my computer which I declined of course because T&C doesn't have this and my data safety isn't guaranteed. Now they took 7-10 days to review my case in order to reschedule of refund my test. The worst experience ever, just do another test, there are alternatives.

SCAM ALERT

SCAM ALERT: once they have grabbed your money they ghost you even if they caused the problem: me and other colleagues attended the IBT home edition exam and all of us were interrupted during the exam for "software problems". Software problems may occur and this is not the real problem, the problem is that after it they disappeared leaving you without reimbursement and reschedule.
I never left a review but be aware that this organization is a real scam and I'm considering to take legal actions against them.

World's Worst Company

It's disgusting that in order to get a US teaching license you must use this company. Words cannot express what an awful company this is. My test was cancelled due to tech problems. Their tech support was unable to solve it and I wasn't refunded or allowed a different date to take it again. They never even bothered to respond to my complaints an entire month later. How in the hell are they even in charge of testing anyway...

My login is refused with a message…

My login is refused with a message about it being 'out of context'. I have been trying to get a response from their 'technical support' for days. This company is totally unresponsive to customers. I will recommend to the department chair that ETS not be used in the future for anything.

Terrible experience!

Terrible experience!

This is what ETS did:

- They wrongly charged my credit twice.
- They failed to administer the test.
- They were disrespectful.
- They had me download 3 different versions of their software.
- They made me wait over 92 minutes on the phone and refused to issue a refund.

AVOID ETS AT ALL COSTS

AVOID ETS AT ALL COSTS! I wish I would have read these reviews before purchasing and trying to take an at home test. EVERYTHING I have read from other reviewers is the same experience I had. Customer service, on top of barely being able to understand them, was horrible. Why is this the only place we can use to schedule a PRAXIS test. DO NOT USE ETS for an at home test, they will rob you of your money. While I was talking to customer service and letting them know that the link they sent me didn't work, he tried to tell me ETS doesn't send emails with link...while I was on the phone with him, I sent him the email they sent me, and he started back pedaling really fast and changed the subject. Since this is the only site that I can schedule my PRAXIS, I am hoping that scheduling a test at an actual proctor facility will work.

This company is a complete joke

This company is a complete joke. I have taken the test more than once and the procedure is never the same. Today, was my worst experience yet. I received no email with instructions to log in at home. Called ets for instructions, they sent me to proctor U, they say I had cancelled my test. I in no way did so. I call ets back and they say I have to send an email on Monday when they get the reports from proctor U. I have never experienced such bad service. I wish there was another alternative to take my test.
