Everything worked out for us

Everything worked out for us. But you should double-check that you have enough bedding and cutlery for everyone before you set off. Unfortunately, the outdoor shower was just a solar shower, the kind you can buy at a hardware store and then have to fill yourself. We had seen other campers with a tap that extends from inside to outside.

The van itself was nice but the brakes…

The van itself was nice, bed was comfortable and easy to assemble the curtains were good a lot of storage
But
Only after we started driving and made our first stop (2 hours after picking it up) we noticed the passenger door does not open from the inside. Which isn’t that big of a deal but it would be nice to know before.
We were also told that there was no Bluetooth connection and only an aux connection for phones and after asking for a cable we were handed (with a dirty look, how dare we ask for one) an aux cable with the old aux connection tgat no phone has already. Fine, we bought an adapter only to figure out there is a Bluetooth connection.

All this is fine, it was 15 dollars we’ll live without it but it just goes to show that they don’t really know their cars that they’re renting

But the actual reason why I gave 3 stars and not more cause I would’ve given a 5 even with those
Out brakes were squeaking VERY loud for the third hour of our trip and kept gettung worse throughout the week. To the point where people would tell me to be carful and to go check it with a mechanic.
The roads in north northland nz are all uphill, downhill so I have to use the brakes and I thought at one point that they would give out
Thankfully we only rented for a week and nothing happend but when I told this to the crew thete they didn’t really care or apologize or anything.

I hope nobody gets the same van we got before the fix that problem.

But all in all it was super cheap, it was comfortable, the whole process of taking and dropping off was fine and fast. So no complaints on that part just mainly the brakes.

We have a great experience booking a van with Euro Campers. There was a fantastic support from the staff, the van itself allow us to enjoy the country and reach every destination we planned. We highly recommend it to those who want to explore in autonomy and be off grid.

Everything went well

Everything went well. The pick-up was a bit slow, but it's understandable since they take the time to check everything properly, and it was! It's not the most luxurious campervan rental, but if you need a good quality/price ratio it's the best choice. The Christchurch site was very convenient.

Booking

Booking, pick up and drop off were so easy! We got a very reliable and good camper and didn't have any issues during our trip. Whenever we had questions, Lucky Rentals employees answered quick and friendly. The service is great! Unfortunately, the fridge and shower were a little moldy and smelly. But the great service and reliabilty of the camper compensated that!

Very friendly contact person and a great "Stargazer"

We had a contact person at Eurocamper by e-mail who took great care of us despite several changes in time and vehicle. Our vehicle was in great condition and ran flawlessly for our whole time (4 weeks). Pick up and drop off was easy. Value for money too. We would not hesitate to rent again through Eurocamper.

You get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for.
We rented the Sky 3 for 2.5 weeks and were quite happy with the value for money. It set us back approx. 3.5k nzd including the full coverage insurance package. The cars are old, hence they lack the convenience newer cars would offer (built in navigation system, park distance control, cruise control etc.), but at the price point given that's acceptable. Just remember to bring an adapter for your phone to charge and a holder for the phone. The radio system did connect to the phone, so you could listen to music on your phone and have Google maps tell you where to go...
The fit out of the van was okay, but lacking in the details - some of the curtains were too short and didn't cover the whole window, so people could have a peek inside. The cushions on the benches weren't held in place during driving, so they kept falling on the floor once you took a turn. Small things that would've been an easy fix during fit out, but now feel like not much though was given to it.
The van was clean-ish, but not as clean as we would've liked. Windshield wipers were completely run down, fortunately we checked before leaving the lot and asked for a replacement, which the company was happy to do. Battery of the key was dead, so we always had to lock manually from the inside, which was somewhat cumbersome, whish we would've checked that prior to hitting the road. Gas bottle was close to empty at pickup and we realised after a couple of days, they offer a refund for us when we purchase a replacement. Fair enough!
Overall customer service was nice and helpful.
Check-in at the station was a bit painful as the system on the self service station kept crashing and we ended up with a clerk anyway. This cost us a lot of time, would love a smoother process!

Disappointing

We had good communication with Euro Camper by the time we booked it. But we never got informed that the company was sold. Lucky Camper wanted to sell another model than we have booked, as I insisted that we booked a newer car, we received it. It was not cleaned very well, rain found its way into the van, the interior light did not work after 2 days etc.
2 stars for the van, overall 3 for the communication in the beginning on top, we would not recommend to rent with Lucky rentals.

Campervan experience.

When we collected the campervan, we got a very brief explanation. The video was helpful. All the different keys for opening lots of different doors was a puzzle.
We were told we could expect an older model. That is ok but we didn't expect that when it rained, the rain came through the roof windows. It rained for example in the shower.
The storage wasn't waterproof. We had to buy big plastic bags to put our luggage in because at one time they were soaking wet.
We couldn't open the door from the cabin with the key. Someone always had to get first in de campervan at the passengersside and then open the door from the inside.
The duvet covers they gave us were to small for the duvet. Not very bad but not so practical.
The campervanexperience was fine but I believe
the camper really had has it's time.

BED BUGS

This was really lucky rentals/happy campers, not euro? Shortly after getting the van I got bed bugs. The company did nothing to help me (no new van, no help to try to eradicate). They just told me to get bug spray and deal with it. I was supposed to have this van a whole month and returned it early because thats really unbearable to wake up with lines of bites daily- I had to get antihistamine meds because it was bad enough. They include a clause in the T&C's they aren't liable for any bugs which is really unfortunate because I'm sure the next person who gets my van is going to have the same issue. Not being liable does not mean that a solution (like a new van) should not be offered... Guy at drop off claimed they never had this issue before... literally the first google search of bedbugs in campervans in NZ is Lucky campers. Guarantee this happens often and is why its now included in their terms. No refunds are given for the situation. If you're getting a van for 1-2 weeks its probably not a huge issue as you'll be out of the van before the bugs really start to multiply. If you're doing a longer rental, I would consider doing several rentals just to get a new van and hopefully save yourself from the loss I am now facing.
Van ran fine... not thoughtfully designed, as you can't even sit on the seats in back without having to hunch over. Not sure why they didn't make these a few inches lower... Stove doesn't work without matches. pump sink leaks. They don't seem to care about fixing these things

Very good experience-no complaints

Pick up and Drop off was super quick, nice guys at the receptions and without any waiting time.
We got a second blanket on request.
Kitchen Equipment and bed were like expected.
Pleasant surprise was the tea towel in the sheet and towel package.
We were in contact with road side assistance because the Engine light went on- fast answer, forward to an expert who contacted us with questions and then cleared us to continue our travel.

Little Toyota Hiace campervan.. easy to drive.. everything I needed

I loved the little Toyota Hiace campervan! Easy to drive on the winding roads. It just lacked a little power when driving uphill, but that didn’t bother me too much. Simple interior, but everything I needed. Maybe check the kitchen utensils before renting it out as I only had 1 whineglass (which was enough cause I was travelling alone). I appreciated the really quick pick-up and dropp-off procedure. Would definitely use Lucky Rentals / Euro Campers again for future travels!

Old car, nothing for tall persons

Rented a Toyota Hiace from 2019, got one from 2007. So the car was 12 year older than I expected. The Hiace is not a good car for tall persons. I am 192cm, wish I would have known before. My trip through New Zealand created a lot of back pain/neck pain.
