Europcar Joensuu. Avoid at all costs.

I have used Europcar at Joensuu airport on a number of occasions now and this experience was the worst. The car was to be collected on a Sunday and previously there had been someone there to meet us but not on those occasion. The keys were left behind the desk in an envelope.

The issue is they put the keys in the wrong envelope so I ended up with a smaller vehicle. Had someone been there this would not have happened.

Being minus 25c outside and it being impossible to contact someone I had to use the smaller vehicle.

I emailed Tomi and had to chase on multiple occasions to get a response which was unsatisfactory.

For comparison, Hertz had someone at the desk to sort people out and had started and preheated all of the vehicles.

Days later and I have still had no response from customer services nor my final invoice for the rental cost.

All fine until it goes wrong and you get the true reflection of their standards.

I for sure will not be using them again.

Two-Hour Delay Ruined Our Itinerary – Unacceptable Service at Helsinki Airport

I am writing to share my highly disappointing experience with the Europe Car rental service (referred to as "Finland Europe Car Service" by the provider) at Helsinki Airport.

I had booked and paid for a 2-day rental, scheduled for pickup at 9:30 AM. However, I did not receive the vehicle until 11:30 AM, resulting in an inexcusable two-hour delay.

The primary issue was the operating hours. The company’s official website clearly stated that the office opens at 9:00 AM, yet the location only opened its doors at approximately 10:30 AM. This alone caused a significant part of the delay.

The two-hour delay directly disrupted my entire planned schedule and itinerary for the day. This lack of punctuality and respect for a customer's time is unacceptable. Furthermore, throughout this entire delay, the staff failed to offer any communication or apology regarding the late opening or the subsequent late handover of the vehicle.

Given the substantial operational failure, the misleadingly advertised opening hours, and the complete lack of customer service or apology, I cannot recommend this specific branch. Potential customers should be warned that their official stated hours may not be accurate

Be Aware when you add services to your rental

I am very disappointed in how Europcar / Economy car rental handle one issue about a rental I have gone thru here in december 2023. Never again Europcar !

1) Completing 10 days of rental in Ivalo, Finland from 21-31 dec. 2023 Writing an email right after rent to both companies. It took more than 10 days! to get one short reply! And now after 6th. of feb. It is not even settled, besides replying, "there is no refund".
2) Both companies even mention a 3rd. party issuer involved which from a customer point of view, is very confusing and certainly NOT clear to WHAT you are actually paying for of services. In one of their replies from Europcar "we don't know the amount as this insurance is between you and this 3rd party insurer"...??
3) Time consuming and very late reply even I reply right after their response. I reply on the 12th of Jan. I get a response on the 15th. Jan...."I will discuss this case with the staff in Ivalo and I will get back to you" today is the 6th. and still no response on how to settle the issue on refund??

I had huge trust in a well known company like Europcar, but never again!
This is my last rental thru Europcar.
