Awful Instructions.

2 Orders both were wrong.

The van kitchen unit i ordered, whist overall appears good quality, the instructions were simply not fit for purpose; hundreds of individual pieces non of which labelled or identified made the job a total nightmare.

By page 2 of the 'instructions' i also realised i had been sent incorrect parts (one significantly wrong), and the fittings and fixings often did not match the schematics. Getting the correct orientations was guesswork/intuition that any average person, even with good skills, would struggle with.

I currently await a response on the incorrect parts but overall its been a massive headache and disappointment that the company really should look at resolving, as clearly i am not the only one having these issues.

Wasn't worth mentioning at the time, but in this context it probably is - i also ordered a pre-cut insulated plywood floor which did not fit and needed cutting down and scribing in- exactly what i wanted to avoid and paid a premium for it being pre-cut.

Much room for improvement and i would likely not recommend, unless company fixes their dreadful instructions.

Poor customer service

I was hoping to order a micro pod for a VW T5 camper to ship to Jersey. I spoke to evodesign on the phone and they said they could deliver to UK shipper for onward shipping to Jersey. However if any parts were missing from the package, because they forgot to include them, I would be responsible for having the missing parts sent to Jersey. While I accept that any damage or parts that have gone missing after delivery to the UK shippers is not their responsibility any missing items that they have forgotten to pack is there responsibility and as such they should check that all components have been packed. Looking at other reviews it appears that this company has problems with sending out complete orders and missing parts is a regular complaint. If the company can't take responsibility for fulfilling orders correctly I can't take the risk in buying from them. Such a shame as the micro pod looks good and perfect replacement for my existing one.

good product

After much chivvying the parcel arrived. I've now ordered another set (the only people who do them) and within 24 hours they've been despatched and should be here tomorrow. Well done Evo Design!

Frustrating

This is a company that make a brilliant product but is run by muppets. It took 4 attempts to get my order right because of missing parts. If you were in a restaurant and the waiter on minimum wage did this you would complain and probably get a partial refund. But if you spend over 5k on van furniture you just have to accept it. The product is great, the 1 star is for the company.

Would not buy or recommend.

Would not recommend or buy this product again. Ordered the flat packed kitchen advertised as being custom made for the SWB transporter T6. Filled in all the sections with the roof and bed that we currently have in the van thinking that when it arrived, we would put it together and it would look like it does on the website. How wrong could we have been? Quite a few of the pieces were starting to delaminate, the instructions (or lack of) were awful and didn’t really detail anything that you had to do. After asking for the instructions from Evo we managed to put the flat pack together to find that the wood split when we tapped in the edging. Installed the kitchen in the van to find that the bed boards didn’t fit (even though we had said what bed we had), my husband who is luckily a designer had to redesign the bed boards that we needed and send Evo the programme for them to be cut, bearing in mind we paid nearly £2000 for the kitchen and here we are redesigning it. The bed when fully pulled out didn’t fit with the kitchen in place, when I contacted Evo, they told me that this ‘is not unusual’, therefore my husband had to cut away some of the kitchen to allow us to use the bed. The roof box didn’t fit, even though we stated what roof we had and if you have van shades the splash back doesn’t fit with them (nothing on the website about this). Whilst some communication has been good with Evo they have not once acknowledged the price we have paid for the kitchen and ended up not only having to cut some of it away but also redesign some of it ourselves. If you’re looking for a good quality kitchen, I would honestly not buy this product. I think even a one star for this product is pushing it.

Great products

They missed a few items off my order but were swift to replace them.
I found all products fitted really nice.
This is for a competent Diy guy/girl.
It’s like ikea stuff
Once you’ve built one item the rest is easy.
Great product though well done

Like alot of other people on here

Like alot of other people on here, the after sales is dire. Had to chase multiple times for my product, which is ok at best, definitely not premium. They wouldn't refund postage, after it was days late, even after paying for next day delivery. Safe to say I won't be using them again.

Untruths and no information

I find it hard to understand how this company can be so extremely busy when their customer service is so very poor. Our campervan kitchen was ordered back in March with a seemingly difficult to understand lead time of 10 -12 weeks. Evo Design claim "Customers will receive automatic notifications to monitor kit progress". Well that's a laugh! The only information received was when I chased them for the current status. Just before the 10 week mark I emailed for info and was advised it would be 12 weeks. So with no further updates from them since this time it seems reasonable to assume that the goods might be delivered as promised. We're now at the 12 week mark and a quick enquiry to them to ask about delivery has prompted them to tell me the lead times on their kits is now 14 weeks! Surely the 14 weeks applies to orders made today - not the one I made all those weeks ago. How can they wait for me to ask right at the scheduled delivery time before telling me of this delay?
As we will now not have the kitchen for our scheduled trip away it looks likely that we'll ask for our money back and take our business elsewhere.

Great product but items missing

Everything people have wrote about these units is true. Great design, look great but the instructions are rubbish. Although if you take your time It goes together well. Unfortunitly the massive down side that others have already mentioned is that items were missing from the set. This happened twice, it was dealt with quickly but as you can imagine it is a bloody annoyance and just unprofessional

For the diy builder it is simply not worth the effort due to the poor instructions

Unfortunately, while this business seems to try to provide a good service and product, the whole flat-pack process is made effectively impossible due to the incredibly poor instructions. Even worse, they have tried to provide good instructions, but due to the lack of nearly all useful detail - like numbering the parts and indicating the left, top, bottom, listing which type of hinge goes with which piece, showing etc - the whole process for a first time builder, (I have extensive diy, woodworking and general build experience), is so difficult and time consuming - I could have literally made the parts from basic ply quicker. It took me a WHOLE DAY just to list and mark the parts so that I knew they were all there and where they fitted together. Most buyers are probably pro-builders of campers, they know these units and once done it would be easy. For the diy builder it is simply not worth the effort. You could use these instructions in a John Cleese video of how not to do it - probably these guys never heard of these videos, not enough experience to get the detail right, no real business experience and this shows through, and it is a Shame. These products are expensive, there really is no excuse for such lack of attention to detail leaving the purchaser with an impossible task, most frustrating!

The assembly was a complete nightmare

The assembly was a complete nightmare. The instructions were totally inadequate. I was almost begging for support which Evo reluctantly helped me with. Build took 5 days on and off whilst waiting support. Holes drilled incorrect locations and wrong sized parts which had to be replaced didn’t help. Avoid buying this unless you really have a lot of time and love a challenge!

I really should give EvoDesign 4 stars…

I really should give EvoDesign 4 stars but I just can't. See later.... Its the instruction manual!

They deserve 5 stars for the quality of the parts, the completeness of the kit and more than enough of the fittings and fixtures. You don't have to "eke out" the edge trim as there is plenty etc (None of that just one screw spare at the end.).
The light ply pieces are cut to perfection.
I didn't go for any of the fancy bits and pieces such as the pricier door catches as even the basic ones are of great quality. Looks great now it is built.

When I first looked at the EVO-1, I didn't even consider that I would get an additional right angle table and the cross bar setup. A lovely bonus.

I considered what kitchen pod to buy for a long time and looked at a lot on ebay. When I contacted ebay sellers they seemed a bit unprofessional with pricing "about this" and "could be 6 weeks to delivery".
EvoDesign have a short lead time unless you go for custom finishes (I have the standard off the shelf light ply and are looks excellent). Communication was excellent.
Really glad I choose EvoDesign.

It feels like it takes a "life time" to fit all the edge trim but worth it. Invest in a rubber mallet for a quality result. For the corners cut mini v's in the inner and it goes round beautifully stretching and tapping in to place. Curves don't need notches.

The negative bit!

I had a part missing but EvoDesign replaced this very quickly.

The instructions! There is a word for them but if I use it in my review it will probably be blocked, so I will use Appalling!
I am an ex Kitchen fitter and used to putting things together. If you are very in-experienced in this area you will struggle. A few sheets of A4 diagrams, not step by step. In my case they didn't seem to have a proper set of instructions for the EVO-1 so they sent me EVO 2.0, sort of similar!
You also have to use your common sense when fastening to the worktop and other places as there is no indication where to do this. Yes I was fine but some will struggle. EvoDesign are aware and trying to address this.

Finally a gripe about delivery. £75 for pallet delivery. Two well wrapped boxes that could have been delivered I would think much more cheaply by a more standard carrier.

Overall, well done EvoDesign and would definitely recommend.
