Huge time and anxiety saver and

omg, after trying for about 24 hours of concentrated effort on the IRS.gov website to figure it all out on my own, I gave up. And was lucky to find Expatfile - at a lower, reasonable, cost than other providers. Granted, much of the prep I had done benefited and sped up the process for Expatfile. That is key. But Expatfile asks straightforward questions and then matches all necessary info to the required schedules and forms. That in itself is a huge timesaver and means you don't have to worry about identifying and filling out the correct forms. Phew!
The only downside is that it didn't ask whether I wanted foreign income credit or foreing income exclusion. Not sure why it didn't ask. But foreign income exclusion would probably have been better for me (dual citizen, income almost exclusively outside the US, in a country which has a tax treaty with the US).

Customer service responded fast and helped, and done!

It was so easy the years before with Expatfile, thus thought I could do it again in 10 min! However I filled in 'yes' where it should be 'no' and could not find the error. Emailed customer service with question and screenshot, it was solved fast and e-filed, DONE!
Thank you for making this easy!

Irritating wizard interface from the 1980s

This is an unspeakably irritating and time-consuming process that takes forever to go through following a 1980s-style wizard. Only 2 numbers changed from the previous year (filed with the same software): income from employment and interest. These figures could be provided in less than one minute. Instead, one must answer dozens (not an exaggeration) of mindless questions, once for oneself and again for one's spouse, enter addresses that haven't changed for years, etc., etc. in a seemingly never-ending process. I haven't looked into it, but I'm pretty sure I could obtain the new forms from the IRS every year and have AI complete them based on the previous year's pdf + the new income and interest figures.

I am a UK expat and I am so grateful to Expatfile, it saved me literally!!!
I tried with My Expat taxes first (175$) who suddently doubled the price with a sneaky premium add on (to $485..), so I ditched them and started with Expatfile . It' was so intuitive and easy, very well done. I couldnt be happier ! Thank you so much Tania, UK

Consistently exceeds all expectations

Man... as an expat married to a non-resident alien, TurboTax was a nightmare. I used it for years. It is NOT designed for expats. Expatfile IS designed for expats and it is so stinkin' easy to use and get the maximum benefits. It consistently exceeds my expectations. I will be happily using it from now on. 100% recommend to all US expats.

I work abroad

I work abroad, and ExpatFile made filing my taxes easy. I could plug in the numbers in foreign money instead of converting it to U.S. dollars. Also, the process was quick. I finished within 20 minutes.
