If you think you are getting a good price you are being fooled
I booked some flights a few hours ago and found out that I'll have to pay $300 each way for my family of 4 to bring standard carry-on bags. After several tries I was finally able to chat with an actual person at Expedia instead of bot but the agent would not help me resolve the problem.
Expedia must know that they are selling tickets on the coattails of unscrupulous airline pricing tricks. Next time if I use Expedia to research flight times, I'll cut them out and purchase direct from the airlines. Just know that some airlines that show up on Expedia (like Frontier) are also dishonest and should be avoided for the same reasons.
Utterly aggressive and rude customer Service Agent
I tried this morning on two occasions to get help with an Expedia agent who said that his name was Peter Scott, with an Indian Accent. He was very rude and obnoxious, and hung up the phone on me twice. I am Expedia Platinum member for about twenty years.
I think i will cut ties with Expedia after this trip. This wrong!! how can an agent there to assist be so rude; including asking me if i had a Stammering problem.
Reserved a car for a trip
Reserved a car for a trip. Cancelled my trip because they would not change car type. Needed a bigger vehicle. They confirmed via email (chat ) that I would receive all my money back. I received my refund and it was short $125.00 . Tried to contact them but to no avail. They get a one because I couldn’t give them a zero!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
Appalling
USE AT YOUR PERIL
I received e-mail confirmation with the wrong dates. times and drop off. Certainly not the booking I made on line.
After 16 phone calls I gave up.
My call was pased from pillar to post, told Expedia had 'technical difficulties', told to phone back in 1 hour only to find that number not answering, passed to people only to find was still speaking to the wrong person, refused to hand the call to a manager.
I don’t even know where to begin
I don’t even know where to begin. I booked a flight going out of the country through Expedia which cost me a little over 600$. Then the flight was changed 2 times and the second time I wouldn’t be able to make it. I contacted Expedia on twitter help account to change my flight, cause even though I tried on the website, it didn’t work. Ended up talking to 6 different people, they took way too long to respond to each message so been talking to them for 5 days and without any solution! Now if I were to change my flight to another, I would have to wait till the day after my initial flight, AND pay over 800$ more, even though on the app the price is only a little over 700$, which means I would only pay about 100$ extra for the change, not 800! Huge huge scam, do not recommend and I will never ever use Expedia again!
Expedia - misrepresents flights on offer and has zero customer service!
Booked a flight that was clearly marked as having no charge for one piece of checked luggage. After completing the transaction, we were told that $70 would be charged for one checked luggage. Tried to cancel immediately - can’t be done online; there is a 4 hour delay on answering calls in customer service and the call back service isn’t working. Terrible experience. Avoid Expedia like the plague!
Bad customer service. As bad as airlines customer service.
Booked a trip - air travel in Corona times with expedia. Need to change the travel dates. Have been on hold with customer service for over an hour as they do not allow to make changes online. Terrible !
I was right from the first time I tried…
I was right from the first time I tried to book with you . You people have such a poor customer service. Never gotten a chance to re schedule my booking because that's the POLICY. You took $50 from me !!!
I booked a room for my elderly mother …
I booked a room for my elderly mother and sister who are both diabetic. They had to evacuate FL and were on their way back. They had been on the road over 10 hours. They needed to rest and take their medication. They didn't find out until they were almost at the motel that they lost electric and couldn't check in. I was on the phone with Expedia over 3 hours and talked with 3 different people. The last one told me they couldn't do anything because the discount site had shut down for the night. They left my family stranded. They had no compassion. I didn't care about a discount, just need a place for them to stop. They drove almost 24 hours straight to get home because Expedia left them stranded. I have no idea where they were from but clearly not in the USA. I will never use them again and would never recommend them to anyone. The worst experience of my life.
When I booked through the EXPEDIA site …
When I booked through the EXPEDIA site it quoted AUD (Sunday evening)- and at the time of booking I had my partner check the screen particularaly as he was making sure that the cost covered bag allowance etc.
It was not until I checked on the Monday it had gone through my bank that I noticed a difference in pricing.
I have paid $3205 through the bank for the amount of $2325 quoted in AUD on the site.
I am out of pocket $880 for the flights (booked for myself and 3 friends) to Bali. The online flights for Bali are around $640 each airlines and I have been chasrged over $800.00
I have tried through the automated system of complaints resolution to no avail. I have also tried the automated complaints system direct to the air line and again no luck.
They quote that the website is a US website so consequently the exchange of rate BUT it did not show on the screen at time of booking and I have actually gone back on a followed through a re-book process and again no indication that the AUD price quoted was going to be re-calculated through a US dollar exchange.
I am out of pocket because I cannot expect my friends to pay the difference - what was supposed to be a cheap holiday has now become a costly one.
Great Customer Service
I booked a flight through Expedia and one of the airlines kept changing the flight information. The third time the airline changed the flight, I only had nine minutes to make it from one gate to the other. Expedia customer service called me immediately to notify me of this and arranged a new flight for me. It was a fantastic experience and I have already booked several more trips through Expedia. I definitely recommend using Expedia for flights and hotels.
Hotel and Ticket packages saved me some money
With Expedia what you see is what you get! Never hidden card charges that pops up out of no where at payment as with other companies! Never a unreasonable cancellation charge if it is not imposed by the hotel itself!I booked a hotel and airline ticket and I got real savings of at least the price of the ticket if booked alone.
Thanks Expedia I'm now a loyal customer!
What we all should know about Expedia's business practices.
Just yesterday I found out just how dirty this business operates. One year ago, I booked 3 nights at the Embassy Suites in Nashville, TN through Expedia. This was a group trip with 5 or 6 life-long friends. We were to leave on our trip in 16 days and were unable to get there the first night, Thursday, and I needed to change the reservation. I searched for my confirmation email from Expedia in my inbox, sent box and folders. I couldn't find it so I contacted the 800 number for Embassy Suites as the Nashville hotel was not answering at 12:30 (approx.) a.m. The woman at the 800 number for Embassy Suites said I would have to contact Expedia to change the reservation because that is who I made the reservation through. I said "Thank You. I will tomorrow."
The next day as I was going through emails and cleaning folders of years' past emails, I found my confirmation email for the 3 nights at the Embassy Suites in Nashville. I was very relieved to have found the confirmation, but noticed that it was sent to me by Reservationcounter.com. I thought, "Who is that???" Had never heard of them. I knew I had booked it through Expedia and the Embassy Suites even confirmed that the night before. I don't do business with random companies I have never heard of before. I then tried to change my reservation on Reservationcounter.com (henceforth to be known as R.counter.com and it would only allow me to cancel the entire reservation. That wasn't an option for me. I then called their "Customer Support" number...what a joke! I spoke with "Mary" and explained that I had tried to change my reservation online, but couldn't. I said I didn't know why R.counter.com sent me the confirmation because I booked with Expedia and had never heard of R.counter.com She informed me that R.counter.com was an affiliate of Expedia. I asked if they bought my reservation from Expedia and she said no and tried to tell me I booked with R.conter.com. I vehemently denied booking with R.counter.com and I wanted to change my reservation taking off only the Thursday night as we couldn't be there on that day. Mary confirmed I was calling well ahead of the cancellation policy's deadline, but she told me they could not take off just the Thursday night reservation because their system would not allow it. I would have to cancel the entire reservation and there were no more rooms to reserve. I told them I have a room, no need for another, just please cancel the Thursday night only. Again, I was told they couldn't do that and then the call was dropped!! I called back thinking it was my cell phone that dropped the call. Explained everything again to "George". He, too, said it couldn't be changed and I could only cancel the entire reservation and there were no more rooms to reserve. And then, the call AGAIN was dropped. I was furious.
I then called Embassy Suites (henceforth known as E.S.) in Nashville to see if they could help me change my reservation and spoke to X (I prefer not to use a name) who was so helpful. They said they had my reservation and could indeed change it to eliminate the Thursday night reservation. I asked if that would then show as a credit on my credit card and they said no, that because I paid Expedia (in this case R.counter.com) Expedia pays E.S. for the number of days we stay after the stay is completed. I explained to X my encounter with R.counter.com and that my confirmation notice of 1 year ago came from them and it said my credit card had been charged in full for my original reservation of 3 days. I told X that if E.S. gets paid from R.counter.com for the 2 days I use, then R.counter.com pockets the money for the 3rd day (Thurs. night). Therefore, R.counter.com is STEALING my money because they won't let me change my reservation/my room to only 2 nights!!! I don't want to lose my room for 2 nights, there are no more rooms to reserve upon full cancellation (my only option) of my reservation with and according to R.counter.com, but I don't want to give over $200 to R.counter.com by keeping my reservation of 3 days and using only 2 of the 3 nights.
After calling Expedia directly (their number was provided to me by E.S. because you can't find Expedia's number on their website) and speaking to their C.S. representative (she was nice) who sent me to her supervisor (who was not pleasant, washed Expedia's hands of my business situation and told me to call R.counter.com), this entire ordeal was worked out with the help of X at E.S. X still had a room available for 2 nights (Friday and Sat.) at a higher rate per night than I got from Expedia/R.counter.com. X asked if I still needed a Handicapped accessible room and I said not at all. X said that is what Expedia put me in. Isn't that against the law if you don't need Handicapped accessible rooms? It is for Handicapped parking places. X also said that since I had had soooo much trouble with Expedia/R.counter.com he would give me a discount per night for the 2 nights I wanted. I was thrilled and politely accepted his offer as the total cost for 2 nights was still less than what I was paying for 3 nights to Expedia/R.counter.com AND I WOULDN'T BE LETTING THEM STEAL MY MONEY for the 3rd night!!!
The next day I cancelled my original reservation with Expedia/R.counter.com for a full reimbursement...their complete loss as they got absolutely no money from me!!!! And, I received a reservation I wanted and needed from a person and company that stand behind their claims of customer service and hospitality.
I will NEVER use Expedia again and have cancelled my account with them. I urge everyone to BEWARE of who they do business with, especially over the internet. Expedia/R.counter.com is out to get you with all kinds of tricks. They don't inform you of their true cancellation policies nor do they inform you that your business with them may be turned over to an affiliate to handle. Both businesses train their people to hang up on you, put you on hold for over 30 minutes when requesting to speak to a supervisor (which happened to me in this situation, too) and give you false information re: availability of rooms, all in hopes of wearing you down, making you give up or trying to convince you to keep your original reservation so they can pocket your money on something you can't use. I would give Expedia and Reservationcounter.com a 0 stars if that were a choice because they trap you if they can when trying to change a reservation and steal your money.
I can't say enough positive things about Embassy Suites of Nashville at
Vanderbilt University.

EXPEDITE TRYING TO RIP ME OFF FOR $660.00!
The Expedia Agent explained that we had until December 29th before any charges would be made on the card and until that date, we could cancel with no penalty. Based on this, we booked with the Expedia Agent right then on the phone. The very next day, Monday October 5th I received an alert from my card company stating that $1650.00 had been charged to my card. The Expedia agent apologized and explained that I was told this because Expedia thought that this was the arrangement Expedia had with the hotel. I explained that I wanted Expedia to honor what they told my husband and me as I did not call the hotel, I called Expedia. The Expedia rep told me that it was out of their hands because he contacted the hotel and the policy is to bill 50% now and 50% upon arrival and if I didn't show up, the hotel would bill for the full amount. When I asked to speak with a manager, repeatedly I got put on hold and then disconnected. After 2 days and numerous calls ending in the company hanging up/disconnecting, I finally got in touch with a manager ("Hans" he said his name was). He apologized for Expedia's misinformation, I knew he was merely telling me anything to get me off the phone, so I cancelled reminding him that I am going by what the Expedia Agent said at the time of booking and I expect a full refund. Today, I took it upon myself to call the Sea Shore Allure hotel myself. The manager, Bridgette answered and stated a different policy (80% if cancelled before 2months of arrival). Also Bridgette said the Expedia rep called but did not cancel. Today, Expedia manager 'Jess' claims she processed the cancellation but regardless of what the lying agent said, I would only get back what the hotel will refund. Which means I'm ripped off for $660.00!!! Contacting the attorney general.
never ever Expedia again
I will never ever use this web page to buy my tickets. they are the worst service provider that I can imagine. never ever use them again.
