Useless Travel Agency with Illegal Practices

Absolutely useless company that uses illegal 'bait-and-switch' marketing to extract more money from customers. If you have a choice of rewards program, avoid Expedia for TD at all costs. I really wish we'd know what a dumpster fire they were before going with the TD credit card. Here is our story:
We booked a vacation to Cabo San Lucas through expediaforTD.ca, which included our airfare and hotel. At checkout on the website, we were able to select our seats. Because I am 6' 7" tall with long legs, I only fit in the bulkhead or exit row. This isn't a 'choice' for me; it isn't a 'preference'. It is a physical limitation over which I have no control, and for which modern airlines do not accommodate. Knowing this, we intentionally selected two seats in the exit row (13A and 13B) on Westjet flight 2324 from YEG to SDJ on April 4, 2026. We paid in full at time of checkout.

Shortly thereafter we received a confirmation from Expedia, which arrived as follows:

From: Expedia For TD (email address not permitted by TrustPilot)
Date: Sat, Feb 21, 2026 at 10:36 PM
Subject: Expedia For TD travel confirmation/e-Ticket - Apr 4 - (Itin# 7337**********)

In the body of the email it stated again that our reservation was CONFIRMED and it showed our outbound flight to Mexico as follows:

WestJet 2324
Economy / Coach (B) | ECONOFLEX | Seat 13A, 13B | Confirm or change seats with the airline*

Seeing that the seats were reserved, I thought nothing more of the matter. Until my wife tried to check in 24 hours before the flight.

Westjet advised that the seats booked and confirmed through Expedia were, in fact, NOT reserved. They offered us other seats, but due to my physical dimensions, the offered seats would not work. They advised that the problem was with Expedia as the booking agent. A call to Expedia that lasted over 30 minutes yielded no satisfaction. They insisted that the email we had received was only a 'request' for a seat sent to Westjet, not an actual confirmation that the seat was secured for us.

A further call to Westjet put the blame right back on Expedia, and another call to them didn't get any better results. We finally had no choice but to pay an extra $100+ for ONE seat so that I could fit on the aircraft.

Judging by the 100% low ratings here for Expedia, this is apparently not only the appalling bad business practices from them. They should be ashamed of themselves for their shady business ethics and useless customer service. Expedia is obviously not any good at acting as a ticket agent, so maybe they should find another business endeavor.

Expedia for TD is by far the worst!

Expedia for TD is by far the WORST to deal with! I have contacted 3 different departments and no one can issue me a refund for the non-refundable hotel in Dubai that we booked. Our Emirates flight is suspended due to the war! How the hell are we supposed to stay at a hotel when we can’t even fly to the destination? Due to these unforeseen circumstances (the war), we should be given a full refund! They have done absolutely nothing to help and have not honoured us a refund! “We’re here to help” they say! All BS! Take your business elsewhere people! They don’t give a damn!!! I’m cancelling my credit card!

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Essentially TD for Expedia can tell you the same thing over and over and that makes it true. We were looking for a refund within the 24 hour booking window and were told there was nothing they could do because of the airline's policy. We called the airline and were promptly issued a refund. Talked to 2 different TD representatives and were given 2 different stories. We also reiterate what other reviewers have said. Airline fares are more expensive on TD for Expedia and points do not give you any advantage. We will not be using them again because of their "hidden" policies and underhanded practices.

As a long-time TD cardholder

As a long-time TD cardholder, I expected a certain level of advocacy and support when I encountered an issue with a hotel booking. Unfortunately, Expedia for TD repeatedly dismissed my concerns and refused to assist, citing hotel policy at every turn. What is particularly frustrating is that when I bypassed Expedia entirely and contacted the hotel directly, the manager approved a full refund exception within 24 hours — something Expedia failed to even attempt to pursue on my behalf. A travel booking service should go to bat for its customers. Expedia for TD did not. I will be reconsidering whether this card continues to serve my needs.

50% higher price AND non-refundable!

I just booked a hotel room, which was showing 5 STARS! After booking, I went on to another site and saw the same hotel as "3 STARS"! What kind of scam is this?!
AND I also paid exactly 50% more than the other site!!
AND it was non-refundable on ExpediaforTD; whereas the much cheaper, same hotel room on the other site was FULLY Refundable until 2 days prior to travel!! This is infuriating! I noticed price differences before too, but not this much! I liked using ExpediaforTD for several reasons; but seeing that they add 50% more, just to give me a few points back (which doesn't even come close to cover the difference), and being forced to the non-refundable option, I don't think I will be a loyal customer any longer!! It's not worth it!

Ive been using it for many years and its been always painful. Im only using it because points on my credit card but wow, they are really bad. Always issues and no real way to change anything. You call airline they say call expedia for td, you call them and they say call airline. Or just simply tell you there is nothing we can do. This is a horrible business. I will be looking to change to a different points system all together, cannot deal with this kind of service anymore

Guys

Guys, stay away from Expedia for TD. This honestly feels like a scam.

Today I tried to book a flight to Miami using my TD Expedia points worth $600. When I compared the same flight on regular Expedia, I found a $600 higher price on Expedia for TD.

I contacted them and asked for a price match, and they refused. It’s clear they increase the price by the exact value of your points just to force you to use them, with no real discount or savings.

This is a misleading game.
I don’t recommend booking through Expedia for TD or using their credit card.

Disappointing services

I was very disappointed with their price guarantee policy. Definitely found a lower price from their own website after I made a booking, but they stated that they did not find the same conditions at the time when they reviewed my claim (it was reviewed many days after the claim submission). Never trust this price guarantee policy. I think the TD travel credit card should switch to a different travel booking platforms, as my friends got their refund quickly with the price guarantee policy from another booking website. I really lost trust with Expedia for TD and the TD travel credit card.

Heads up folks if booking travel with Expedia for TD and using a credit card with expiry date less than 6 months

If your credit card expiry date is less than 6 months from when you want to make a booking, Expedia won't accept it for payment. In my case, I spent 2 hours trying to sort out flights and when it came to payment using my TD Travel Visa which has always been in good standing, it was denied. No reason given so I called the bank and was told there was no issue with the card and must be a system error on Expedia's end. Tried again, same problem, so called Expedia again and found out about the 6 month expiry date cutoff. Card exp was Feb 2026 and no possibility of booking with them until TD issued new card, meaning no ability to use any points. Called TD, new card has been issued but not sent. So effectively, I could buy anything elsewhere using my existing card but not use it to book travel on Expedia. If this was the case, TD should have issued the card well in advance of the 6 mo cutoff time. Ended up booking 4 flights directly with the airlines, using that same card, but without being able to use any points. Once I receive my new card, I will use up all my points, cancel the card and never use the TD Infinite Travel Visa or Expedia for TD again. So frustrated and disappointed in this whole experience.

ExpediaforTD is a Scam!!!!

The flight price is $1512.when I clicked the checkout it went up to $3357 with a "heads up" message saying sorry the price has increased. The same flight at expedia.ca is $1512 or the KLM is $1445.
TD should not limit their customers to collect 8 pts/$1 to this Scam!!! ExpediaforTD website.
TD should take this repetitive scams very serious. otherwise they will lose customers.
We should get 8pts/$1 by booking flights or travel products everywhere.

Unbelievable. Crap company with shitty practices

Unbelievable. Browsed a flight a couple days prior before I was ready to book and login today to see it's boosted x2 from $1500 to $3000 and they're telling me no availability when I'm staring at expedia for "normal people" and the flight is still available for the same price and the same route. This is highway robbery when you're trying to redeem travel money that I've earned by being one of their clients. Won't be for long though.

Extremely Disappointed – Refund Refused Despite Paying Extra for Flexibility

I’m extremely disappointed with Expedia and would caution anyone considering booking through them—especially when paying extra for flexibility.

I bought round-trip tickets for my parents, specifically choosing a non-refundable outbound and a fully refundable return, paying $1,000 more just to allow them to extend their stay with us. That flexibility was the whole reason we booked through Expedia.

When the time came to change the return date, Expedia told me there would be no refund, and even worse, quoted me $12,000 to change the return tickets by two months—despite the original return segment being fully refundable. Initially, one agent told me the change would cost around $3,000, but after escalating to a supervisor, that price quadrupled. All of this happened in a single phone call that lasted over 1.5 hours, and I got nowhere.

To make it worse, Turkish Airlines changed the flight schedule multiple times (around 10) since we bought the tickets, yet Expedia still won’t honor a basic refund or change. Their system provides no way to compare different dates or fare classes—there’s no transparency, no real customer control.

I received an email that simply blamed the airline and offered no resolution. I purchased this through Expedia, not Turkish Airlines, so Expedia is responsible, and they’ve clearly failed.

This experience not only cost us time and money—it also robbed our family of two extra months with our parents, something that meant the world to us. Expedia appears to prioritize policies over people and provides no meaningful support when it matters most.

I will never book with Expedia again and strongly advise others to reconsider. You’re left on your own when something goes wrong.

Expedia Sold Me Travel Insurance—Then Refused to Honour It

I purchased travel insurance for my flight—offered directly by Expedia through TD and their third-party provider—at the time of booking. When I had to cancel my trip due to a medical emergency, I was passed from one party to another, each pointing the finger at someone else. Expedia, the insurer, and the airline all deflected responsibility. No one took ownership, and I was left without support or a refund. Expedia ultimately kept the money.

The process was confusing, frustrating, and unkind—especially during an already difficult time. For a long-time customer and frequent flyer, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. Expedia should partner with a reputable insurer and establish clear, compassionate processes. I’ve decided to cancel my TD credit card and switch my rewards program.

Very interesting

Very interesting: they sell Condor flights, but if you need to change or cancel they refer directly to the company condor, while condor only deals with flights booked on their website and they refer you to Expedia. So basically nobody takes care of you

The absolute worst booking experience

The absolute worst booking experience. Do Not Book With Expedia For TD. They had a hotel listed that did not even have a physical location. It was a scam listing. Expedia refused to give a refund stating that someone from that “hotel” was responding to their emails refusing a refund. They do not protect their customers. Also lost points in an airfare booking that was cancelled by Expedia but points were not returned. Be careful when booking with them.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. Never honour credits. Do not trust a word that comes out of their mouth. They literally stole $610 in credits from me. Expedia and TD both have incompetent people and glitchy systems. They literally leave the customers with no options. If you give them your money, never expect them to honour anything they claim.

I bought 3 tickets tonight and have…

I bought 3 tickets tonight and have been searching for a few days. I had Expedia.ca up and Expedia for td so I can use some of my points. The price was about 40% higher on Expedia for td at all times . So what's the points of collecting points if the price is purposely higher diluting the purchase power of my points. It's a scam. I called them and they just gave me the run around and said this is normal and prices keeps changing. I wasn't comparing another website but Expedia to Expedia and they would not honour that and if I bought from the cheaper of their sites they would not let me use my points unless they put a penalty of roughly the difference in the prices . This was for short term trips between London at Scotland . I bought round trip tickets from Toronto to London directly from air Canada app as it was 30% cheaper than Expedia for the exact same dates and times. These points are almost useless. Really debating giving up my card after 10 years of being a really loyal customer. Can't believe they wouldn't honour the cheaper price on their own websites, really makes me mad .

It’s a SCAM.

It’s a SCAM.. not worth it AT ALL.. they do not take any responsibility or accountability for tickets and seats booked via their website. When we called to make a change due to a family emergency they told us to go to the airline directly and the airline said that they can’t do anything as it’s been booked via TD EXPEDIA… because of which the customer has to bare the brunt. it’s a total SCAM and wouldn’t wish for anyone to fall for it. We have cancelled our cards for the same reason. Highly highly recommend not doing ANY bookings via any TD cards or travel portals especially EXPEDIA FOR TD.
