I ordered the strawberry sponge cake…
I ordered the strawberry sponge cake And it tasted home made and just beautiful. It was delivered on time and in perfect condition. My nephew and his family were visiting with us the next day and we all agreed it was a lovely cake and we all enjoyed it. I would recommend the exploding bakery to anyone and I will be ordering for the 3rd time soon .

My purchase was sent as a "thank you"…
My purchase was sent as a "thank you" gift for friends. I knew they liked fruit flavours, so I chose the lemon and polenta letterbox cake rather than brownies. I thought EB cake would be a nice alternative to flowers. The couple were absolutely delighted, said the cake was delicicious and had eaten it all within 4 days. With hindsight, flowers maybe flowers would have lastdd lasted longer!!!!

Delivery failed
Delivery failed. Cakes weren’t received well and rated poorly by customers. Customer service was attentive and refunded items although blame shifted to postal carrier with a sense of hey not our fault. Which is understandable but we want our product and businesses need to vet delivery carriers extremely well in order to offset issues especially with perishables. I personally wasn’t impressed with cakes I tried, no wow factor perhaps degradation with late arrival hurt the quality. I’m trying them again this week through a distributor so we’ll see how my cafe guests feel this time.

Thanks for the time for leaving us your review. Although we have already been in touch, we also wanted to make sure we also reply to you here to make sure you're seen and heard.
Unfortunately, there really wasn't much more we could do to prevent the delay as we did send the cakes on time with next day delivery service and contacted Royal Mail to check the progress of your order to make sure it arrived smoothly.
Although delivery delays are rare, they do happen every now and then - whether it's due to traffic, flooding, location - sadly they are reasons we are not able to control. We apologise for the delay and we are sad to hear that this was your first impression of our service.
We don't bake / send out cakes that spoil quickly as it wouldn't be a viable service for us either but as a precaution we have refunded you for cakes that had dairy in them just to be sure. Brownies and Polentas can keep up to a month at room temperature when unopened, thanks to their natural preserving ingredients.
Because of your rural location in Scotland we highly recommend ordering our cakes via a supplier.

This latest book is such a disappointment. There are too many vegan etc recipes, not my thing at all. Unlike the first book I was not inspired to make any of the recipes which makes the purchase a waste of money. The first book was brilliant and I was hoping for another just like it with inspirational cakes and bakes.

It's a shame you didn't enjoy it. Out of 50 recipes, there are only 2 vegan recipes in it. If you're not keen on the GF recipes, they can also be swapped with flour, however, our previous book also featured a lot of GF recipes as many of our bakes are made with almond flour.
Both vegan recipes in the book can be made without vegan ingredients as well.
If you do fancy trying out any of the recipes in the new book, you can always use your existing cake tin by doubling up the recipe.
Alternatively, we are more than happy to refund you for the book if you'd like to send it back. Please get in touch with info@explodingbakery.com should you want to return it.
