They don't put there students wellbeing first
During my tenure as a student at Falmouth University, I encountered significant challenges that adversely affected my academic progress. Despite my diligent efforts and aspirations to obtain a diploma and establish a successful career, unforeseen circumstances arose that severely impacted my mental well-being. Specifically, the unfortunate theft of my dog led to a precipitous decline in my mental health.
In light of these extenuating circumstances, I engaged in open communication with my tutor, expressing my concerns and seeking guidance. She advised me that I could temporarily suspend my studies for a period of six months. As per her instructions, I promptly sent an email to Falmouth University, detailing the reasons necessitating this temporary hiatus from my studies.
Regrettably, I was not informed by my tutor, prior to taking this approved leave of absence, that I was required to complete an assignment. Consequently, I was unaware of this obligation and, as a result, failed to submit the required assignment. This oversight, coupled with the fact that I only missed one assignment in October, unfortunately led to my dismissal from the course.
I diligently pursued an appeal process, submitting compelling evidence, including a medical certificate from a healthcare professional attesting to the severity of my health condition. However, my appeals were regrettably denied without any demonstration of empathy or consideration for the extenuating circumstances I faced.
Furthermore, the university engaged in misleading communication with the student finance department, falsely claiming that I had not attended any academic sessions during the 2023 academic year. This misrepresentation has resulted in financial implications, as I am now required to pay an inflated amount.
The university's actions have been deeply concerning and detrimental to my academic and financial well-being. It is disheartening that they have failed to demonstrate understanding, empathy, and honesty in addressing my situation.
