They don't put there students wellbeing first

During my tenure as a student at Falmouth University, I encountered significant challenges that adversely affected my academic progress. Despite my diligent efforts and aspirations to obtain a diploma and establish a successful career, unforeseen circumstances arose that severely impacted my mental well-being. Specifically, the unfortunate theft of my dog led to a precipitous decline in my mental health.

In light of these extenuating circumstances, I engaged in open communication with my tutor, expressing my concerns and seeking guidance. She advised me that I could temporarily suspend my studies for a period of six months. As per her instructions, I promptly sent an email to Falmouth University, detailing the reasons necessitating this temporary hiatus from my studies.

Regrettably, I was not informed by my tutor, prior to taking this approved leave of absence, that I was required to complete an assignment. Consequently, I was unaware of this obligation and, as a result, failed to submit the required assignment. This oversight, coupled with the fact that I only missed one assignment in October, unfortunately led to my dismissal from the course.

I diligently pursued an appeal process, submitting compelling evidence, including a medical certificate from a healthcare professional attesting to the severity of my health condition. However, my appeals were regrettably denied without any demonstration of empathy or consideration for the extenuating circumstances I faced.

Furthermore, the university engaged in misleading communication with the student finance department, falsely claiming that I had not attended any academic sessions during the 2023 academic year. This misrepresentation has resulted in financial implications, as I am now required to pay an inflated amount.

The university's actions have been deeply concerning and detrimental to my academic and financial well-being. It is disheartening that they have failed to demonstrate understanding, empathy, and honesty in addressing my situation.

I would recommend…

I would recommend the Architecture course at Falmouth University. It was only in its 3rd year when I started, but the course is now fully up and running, with the teething problems all worked out.

I studied 2016 to 2019.

University life is great and there are a lot of societies to choose from.

The architecture course is on the Falmouth Campus and there is a lot of positive’s including proximity to Gylly Beach.

My daughter attends Falmouth…

My daughter attends Falmouth University. Just been discussing her time there and, quite frankly, it all seems rather disappointing.
A really scaled back experience with a 'here's the topic, go and do it on your own and teach yourself all about it' attitude. Needless to say, she's questioning her life choices and what it is, exactly, that she's getting in return for £27,000. What's going to happen when they can't blame it on covid anymore?
