These are white-label Tuya thermostats and when they work they're fine, but they 1) turn themselves off periodically for no reason 2) Light up at random times - not good in a bedroom at night and 3) Lock their settings by themselves. Very limited smart home control options - you can switch them on/off and set the temperature, but that's it.

I had fast warm underfloor heating installed costing over £2500, it kind of works but takes a very long time to heat up. The thermostat is near redundant as the floor cannot get to the set heat. No one is sure why. I have had this tested again by an electrician. Potentially the product isn't powerful enough is all I can assume. I would dissuade users from purchasing as I have lost a lot of money on this.

This unit was to replace an old Aube thermostat / programmer on electric underfloor heating in one room. Because of the shape of the room, two heat mats were used in the original installation. This did not seem to be an issue when considering the replacement unit but was soon to present a problem at time of installation. The old unit still worked but the aim of replacing was to give wifi capability for remote on/off and easier, more visible programming from within an app rather than the long-winded multiple button presses that the Aube unit worked from. Delivery from Fastwarm was excellent. Initial thoughts on first handling was that the unit was flimsy compared to the old unit. The digital panel is ever-so slightly out of alignment with the square of the unit itself. It doesn't detract from its operation but it is noticeable and an indication of cheapness in the manufacturing process. The instruction booklet could be better, especially relating to operating the unit through the app. It does give programming methods but lacks some explanation. The app itself took a little finding because searching for "FastWarm app" on play store did not find the obvious. Turns out the app is actually called "SmartLife-Smart Living". First snag when installing was that the terminals on this unit were much smaller than on the old Aube unit and the two wires for each end of the heat mats would not fit into the terminals. These had to be linked and connected to the unit with two 2.5 short lengths. I chose this unit over the Heatmiser Neostat wifi as it seemed much the same but for ten quid less. One feature the heat miser has which seemed gimmicky but probably is quite good, is that its buttons light up as you approach the device whereas the Fastwarm doesn't. This sounds trivial and it may be ok after more use but if you want to override the current setting by using the panel itself, it is not obvious where the buttons are until after touching the area of the panel, by which time you can have touched the wrong button and change the setting to not what you want. Overall the unit looks more modern than the old Aube unit and after getting used to it and the app, it is an improvement but less so if you are someone in the house without your phone or without the app. The only other negative for my particular installation was that there is a gap between the top of the unit and the wall which is down to the rustic finish of the plasterwork. This might have been less noticeable if a spacer was provided to fit between the unit and the mounting surface. Something that would only cost pence but could aid the aesthetics.

We purchased 12 of these units, so quite an investment to replace three different older types from different companies and they were all fitted and tested within 3-4 hours now giving us complete control remotely helping reduce our energy consumption dramatically. I gave the "Ease of Installation" only 4 but would have been 4.5 if available, only due to the reason the replacemnt of the older units were rammed into the walls and we needed to purchase about 6x1cm extension boxes, they didn't cost much so I would recommend they include these in the packaging.

I use these to control infrared panel radiators as I wanted more flexibility than the controllers that came with the radiators. The Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat works really well and is easy to set up.
