28 custom-sized windows and doors for 350 year old Swiss chalet
Positives - they delivered on time and the windows appear to be of good quality.
Negatives -
This company refused to send us a small sample of the wood frame finishing and colours in advance of placing a large order (we were willing to pay for the samples), so that we could be sure that the wood colour matched our 350 year old heritage-listed chalet. It is impossible to judge the final frame colour based on a tiny square image on their website. They also had no photos of completed windows with the available colour schemes.
Since they wouldn't provide paid samples, we then discussed our needs with the company, specifying that the frames had to be completely natural-coloured wood. They suggested an option, which went against our original selection. We trusted their "expert" advice against our better judgment, and placed the order. The company insisted to discuss everything via phone call instead of email, which in hindsight has gone against us as now we have no written proof of what transpired.
28 windows and doors were delivered, and looked nothing as expected. The natural wood grains cannot be seen under the thick layer of "matt colour varnish" and the colour itself, is completely unnatural in appearance. We are unable to install them as they are, as their colour and finishing clash with the old wooden chalet. This company has finally informed us that they are unable to remediate this problem, even though we expressed that we are willing to pay for the frames to be re-finished. They offered no other alternatives to even meet with us half way, to find a solution.
We cannot recommend them purely because they refused to send a sample in advance and they gave us unsatisfactory advice.
It has been a tough and expensive lesson for us. The moment they refused to send samples or reasonable photos, we should have backed out of this purchase
