Smooth move from the US to UK

I moved with four pets from the US to the UK. The pets are all here safely and the process went smoothly. I am very happy that I used a pet transport company. FF Express was very competent and the process was fair. America was my primary contact. I ensured I double checked everything my vet and I did with FF Express and they always either reassured me or let me know what needed correction. I found that another big pet relocation company offered targeted country specific webinars and tried harder to make the sale for us to use them. Their price was only slightly higher once negotiated. However, because we were flying out of Atlanta and FF Express’s office os near there, I chose them. We lived in the Central time zone (which was one hour different from FF) and I did find I missed them a few times for the day. However, they were responsive after hours when it really mattered. Transporting pets internationally is very stressful. I recommend doing research and using the free resources offered by the various companies that do this every day. Learn and understand as much as you can. Then select a pet relocation company that you feel comfortable with and that has a lot of experience with the specific country you are moving your pets to. For US (ATL) to London Heathrow, I found add Express was great. If you don’t understand something, check and double check. It’s a lot of money, so don’t be afraid to ask questions and double check as necessary. In the end, the fact that our four pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) arrived safe to us on the UK in a fast and efficient manner is what really matters.

Horrible Communication and An Even Worse Owner/CEO

Our original move date was set for May 1st. That’s a national Spanish holiday and they take their time off seriously (as they should) but we didn’t know as we aren’t Spanish, nor are we “experts in international pet shipping” that should know when to book and when not book flights. So, we then had to reschedule our dog which required her to have a layover in Frankfurt which I wasn’t thrilled about. Okay, no big deal in the long run.

We get the paperwork done for all 4 pets done, wait for the USDA certification to come back, submit it to them on a Monday(?) evening, only to be told that bc all 4 pets are listed on their customs “might not” let us in with the animals bc we were on flights coming in at different times. This was told to us at 9:30pm, TWELVE HOURS before needing to drop our dog off at the airport. We were told we would have to wait and see what the verdict was until the next day…at 9am which is when we were supposed to drop our dog off.

We were told it was completely our fault and our vet’s fault for not following their “very clear instructions.” When I pointed out that their very clear instructions obviously weren’t clear enough and that sending a FILLABLE FORM (with a note that says ‘this form is editable’ at the top) to a vet who strives for efficiency, of course she’s going to put all 4 animals on the form. It’s logical, it’s efficient, she wasn’t explicitly told not to do so, so why wouldn’t she?

We weren’t on the phone call with them and our vet to ensure clear communication. We never even got a phone call to discuss anything period throughout the entire process until I lost my temper (which I regret apologizing to Lindsey and Rebecca for bc they didn’t deserve one).

Throughout all of this we were continually gaslit and told it was our fault for not following instructions. You know, the clear instructions they only gave to the vet? The ones we weren’t made privy to until crap hit the fan.

The final straw for me was the fact that they didn’t even give us the proper address for the cargo hanger we needed to pick our dog up from. We found it ourselves and then they had the audacity to ask us to share it with them.

After justifiably requesting part of our money back and telling them we’d be sharing our experience very candidly, Lindsey Maroun or Rebecca deleted our entire conversation history in the app, I was blocked on social media, and from leaving a review on my personal Gmail account.
