Shocking outfit - I ordered a door and a window - both were wrongly made and had to be replaced (the door twice) causing huge inconvenience, delay and extra costs. I so lost faith in the product that I got my builder to alter it as I’d lost any hope FGC would sort it. In response to a complaint they dismissed it saying they just provided the goods that others make!!! Really, really poor - Id certainly advise not to use them.

James and john were friendly and full of energy.
Great service from them both. They fitted some glass doors at my nanas house, unfortunately she passed away a few days ago so wont be needing them anymore.

I had been in negotiation with FGC for a frameless glass balcony screen. Over time we had reached a price which I had accepted. They came back very quickly to say they had made a mistake and, due to material cost increases the price had more than doubled. In turning down the order they were relying on terms and conditions around site survey, which have nothing to do with overall costing.
If you are thinking of using them, do think carefully about working with a company like this
Fabulous looking product, premium price, shocking customer service
We absolutely love the look of the product and see that many other companies are now picking up on this design so there will be many more options out there now.
The survey was good – they installed all OK and then the problems started: doors not opening, in 2.5years 3 of the 6 panes of glass have blown and need to be replaced, nothing sheeted or protected when they come to do works, repairs being made but damage done (chipped framework, scratched glass, mastic carried all over the patio). They don’t turn up to arranged appointments but that’s OK apparently – if we aren’t in when they come they charge us for the privilege! If you call them out you are left waiting weeks for them to be able to come.
Reading the reviews below – we too have many ants getting in and have applied powder but will keep an eye on it!
A premium product but quality of the product and lack of customer service is not acceptable. Certainly wouldn’t recommend.
I would have given FGC a 5* rating before now. However last week, for the first time ever, ants appeared in the room with the doors and adjacent kitchen. The doors were fully closed and locked so I assumed they were fully sealed and could not be the cause. However, the problem got worse and I was baffled until I saw an ant trail on the outside frame.
On opening the door I could see that the ants were entering via a few mm wide gap at the top and bottom of the side frame. Hundreds of ants were crawling on the inside of the frame and entering the expansion gap at the end of the top beam. Ants had also entered via a similar gap on the inside frame. I should have taken a photo to show how bad it was at the time but my priority was to dash out and buy some ant killer spray to stop them (this was effective but for how long?).
I called FGC the next day but the call handler said it was normal and she had had some ants come into her own doors and recommended ant traps. I was rather surprised and disappointed that my genuine issue was essentially dismissed without regard for customer care. I sent pictures of the installed product indicating where the ants were entering via the doors and asked for this to be escalated. I was hoping that they could recommend extra sealing or something to fill the gap but their response was: "There isn’t really anything technical on it im afraid. You have to allow a 5mm expansion gap for the track so that area cannot be sealed. I will speak with production with the photos but I Im afraid I cannot uphold this complaintas we cannot be held responsible for the migration of ants."
Their second and final response: “As discussed Ants are a common problem this time of year, ant traps, powders and sprays usually suffice....I have spoken to production about the situation and shown them the photographs. I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions for you. There is no issue with the doors and their operation. We cannot seal up every possible gap they may enter, this is neither possible nor practical. If the ant problem persists I would recommend some form of professional pest control to advise. I appreciate this is not the outcome you were hoping for but on review, there isn’t an issue with the doors and sealing up will not resolve the ant nesting.”
I fully understand that they need to allow an expansion gap but I (who is not a door expert) can envisage some potential and very low cost solutions, enhance their product and delight the customer. What is lacking is any willingness to even consider a solution and provide customer support.
I am very disappointed and surprised that a premium bespoke and expensive product such as this has such a fundamental design flaw. I have had various types of patio doors for decades and none of them had any issues with ant ingress. In contrast, I recently had a bespoke front door fitted and the customer service was exemplary.
Response to reply:
As I noted in the original review I spoke to FGC the next day but they refused to accept that there was a design or installation issue - which I disagree with.
With the window fully closed and locked, all seals compressed, there is a few mm gaps at top and bottom of side frame plus a gap where the top beam and side frame meet (allowing ants to access wall cavity). I understand the need for expansion gaps but these could easily be sealed with a cube of foam. I could easily do this myself but don’t want to invalidate any guarantees. The thing that annoyed me most was their refusal to accept the possibility that there could be a design or installation issue. The best organisations thrive because they constantly strive to perfect their products and customer experience.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews as I prefer to get the issue resolved but I felt I was banging my head against a wall on this issue.

FGC are an excellent company to deal with initially and their product is exceptional. The trouble begins when something goes wrong when their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
The problem started with a very poorly carried out survey at a cost of £315. The measurements taken were wrong resulting in a door which did not fit. At installation the fitter pointed out the elementary error which had been made and demonstrated how the measurements should have been taken.
We were left with a porch with no door and had to make another appointment for the fitters to attend our property a week later.
When I complained about the charge made for a faulty survey the problem was swept aside.
I would not pay in full for sub-standard work from any organisation and expected an offer of a refund, in full or part, for the faulty survey.
Sadly, despite the superb finished product, I will not be recommending FGC to our many visitors who will undoubtedly be impressed with our wonderful new porch.
