I appreciate your having got it done. The one thing that could have been better was that it was shipped to a wrong address. The FedEx driver called me from an address about 7 miles away. It may have... See more

They were very attentive and kept me well-informed throughout the process. Although the cost was higher than I had anticipated, it was due to the severe failure of my hard drive. I am confident that they took all necessary steps to minimize costs and believe their final pricing was fair.

I would have given them a 4 or 5 star review if the price hadn't been excessive. I felt I was kind of pressured into having my data recovered. They did however recover all my data successfully and I was happy with the results, just wish the price was cheaper. It might be fine if you're a business but for an individual it is pricey.

They were able to recover very critical business documents and priceless photos that covered numerous years. Daniel kept me fully informed of the progress and process. They even delayed sending me the memory stick due to us being out of town to ensure we were home when it would be delivered. I would highly recommend them again and again.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!! Save your money and go to a reputable lab that offers a "No Data, No Fee" guarantee.
They clearly use a classic "bait-and-switch" sales tactic.
Initially, I received a very positive diagnostic call. The representative claimed they could see all my data and had "no concerns" about a full recovery, and that the only issue was failed heads to get me to agree to a $1,700 charge no refundable. As soon as I paid, a different person called to say the data was lost forever. When I challenged them—noting that I was told the data had already been accessed—they backtracked, claiming that "seeing a file list" has nothing to do with "accessing the files."
They use sales tactics to give you false hope, then change their story once they have your money. I never received a file list or a technical report—just a massive bill and a dead drive.

I lost access to my portable drive and reached out to Fields for assistance. Justin kept me informed through out the process and made sure my restored data got back to me promptly. I appreciate that they attempted all possible solutions to minimize the expense of data recovery before rebuilding my drive. I was extremely pleased with the customer service and in the end I believe that I was treated fairly as far as pricing goes based upon the amount of work they needed to perform. Thanks Fields!

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE!! I have been using Quicken since the 1990’s. Unbeknownst to me, my Quicken Data File (*.QDF) was located on my Seagate external hard drive. Last week the drive died and I was therefore unable to open Quicken. All along I thought the data file was on my computer C: drive and the external E: drive was simply backing up my critical files. I was sadly mistaken. I took the drive to the Best Buy Geek Squad and they informed me that since their computer wouldn’t recognize the drive there was nothing they could do. They said I would need to send it to a company that specialized in data recovery. I discovered Fields Data Recovery on the web and late Thursday afternoon gave them a call. They were awesome! They immediately emailed me a UPS overnight mailing label. I packaged up the drive and got it to the local UPS drop-off center before the overnight cut-off. Right around lunchtime on Friday, Fields called me to tell me that they had received the drive and that they would let me know something later that afternoon. They could clearly tell that this file was very critical for me, and that if not recovered I would lose nearly three decades of data. They called me around closing time and said that they were successful at recovering the data. I was ecstatic! It’s important to note that at no time during this entire process had they mentioned anything about cost. I had reviewed their website (they even have a section on Seagate drives in particular) and saw prices ranging from $180 to just over $1,000. I also looked at their reviews and saw where one person was complaining about the cost being $1,500. So, I prepared myself for a cost ranging somewhere between $200 and $1.5K. They were expediting my order, so I figured it would be at the higher end of that range. But OH NO!!! After they finished teasing me with the fact that they were successful at retrieving the data they hit me with the price --- $5,000!!! I could have died. They were clearly exploiting my vulnerability as they knew how desperate I was. I reminded them that I was just a regular Joe, not some tech company with deep pockets. The Account Manager with whom I was speaking said he understood and that he would have to talk to the Sales Manager (???) on Monday to see if anything could be done. Of course, this now left me with several more days without the use of Quicken. Monday afternoon he finally called me and informed me that “the best they could do was $2,640!!” The whole recovery process took them approximately 5 hours. Thus, they originally wanted $1,000 per hour. The revised price comes out to around $528 per hour. I begrudgingly paid the fee, but the experience has left me absolutely livid and disappointed beyond words. In my opinion, they intentionally gouged me knowing how vulnerable I was. I am retired now, but I spent my entire career selling process equipment to industry. So, I’m very familiar with the process. I think that the way they handled my business was abhorrent and shameful. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone! I wish I could give them negative stars!!

Sent a hard drive to be diagnosed for recovery. Was told it was possible and the cost. The cost was average among other quotes I've received, but was still out of our budget we wanted to spend. After speaking on the phone I clearly asked which ways the recovered data would be returned. I was told by Dropbox or another hard drive. And I asked what size hard drive and they clearly told me same size as my original which was 2TB. This fact alone I decided to go ahead with their service since it would include a new hard drive I could just continue to use and would not have to pay additional approx $200 to buy another hardrive. I was told it would be shipped out on Friday or Monday due to the weekend and it being the Thursday they received my damaged drive. It didn't end up being shipped till the next wednesaday and I received next day. The data recovery worked but to my surprised they sent me back a 512gb memory stick instead of a 2TB hard drive. Called their headoffice and they told me they would check their call logs to see if the hard drive size was ever discussed, if it was they would refund me the cost of a new hardrive. They didn't call me back, I had to call them again few days later. They told me they checked the emails and phone logs and never saw anything regarding the hard drive size. They are clearly covering for their employee, because it was 100% discussed. They performed the service I paid for, but failed to deliver on what they sold me on. Very dishonest sales tactics. I had a weird feeling before I made payment when I asked for detailed invoice but was sent a simplified one. But I went through with payment anyways since I've read many good reviews on the company. If they truly listened to their call logs they would of seen when I asked for detailed invoice breakdown and when hard drive size was discussed. If this was few hundred $ I would of just took the loss, but when you pay for a $1700 service you would expect to receive what was agreed upon.

Our PC died, we hadn't backed up our work for months. They collected the computer, and retrieved our data over the Christmas period and we were back up and running at the start of January. Very pleased, would recommend

The person taking our credit card over the phone spoke clearly and was very polite. After that I got multiple calls from someone who mumbled and talked very quietly. All I heard clearly was “we should have your data in a couple of days”. Well, it has been a few weeks and I finally got, “we tried twice and couldn’t get anything”
The web site says No data, No fee, but because my drive went to stage 3, I’m out $1200?
I was lead to believe that they wouldn’t go forward if they didn’t think that they could recover the data, but in the end I was accused of dropping the device and severely damaging the internal components.

I typically recover data for friends and family, but I did not trust my skills with this job because it was too important. So I contacted Fields Data Recovery. The drive wasn't making scraping noises, so I knew the platters were probably in good shape, and the heads were the issue. To replace heads and recover the data requires finding donor heads from a used drive made at the same location, near the same time. Not easy, and usually expensive. Having a clean room and the skills required to take the drive apart and put it back together is the next hurdle. Fortunately, FDR had the right contacts, skills, and tools. Would I still give them five stars if they weren't able to recover my data after I spent all of the money? Yes. Recovering data is never a guarantee, and they told me that upfront, but having skilled experts working on my drive was my best shot. I knew if they couldn't recover the data, then nobody could, and I was willing to pay to know for sure.

Used their service through the Account Manager. He was quick to take payment and afterwards refused to answer emails or phone calls. I was promised 1-2 days to have my data sent to me, however that never happened.
I got help, a week later from another employee who sent me my data through Dropbox and finally a flash drive 2 weeks later.
I do not recommend this company (Hamilton) office. as there are others that can provide the same service, without ignoring their customers after a large payment.

Excellent Service – Recovered What I Thought Was Lost Forever
I had a very important drive fail on me and thought years of files were gone for good. After doing some research, I decided to give Fields Data Recovery a try, and I’m really glad I did.
From the beginning, their team was professional, responsive, and transparent about the process. They explained the evaluation, the recovery options, and the pricing before doing any work, which gave me confidence that I was dealing with a legitimate company.
The recovery was successful, and they were able to retrieve the majority of my files, including some that I assumed were permanently lost. Communication throughout the process was clear, and they kept me updated at every stage.
Overall, it was a smooth and reassuring experience during a very stressful situation. I would definitely recommend Fields Data Recovery to anyone dealing with data loss.
