Last August we booked a car via Vip Cars, another scammer, we paitv£492.00, on arrival they didn't even send us the pre esisting damages, they blocked £512.71 which they had to unblock on the 18th August on our way back. The company failed to unblock the amount and decided to withdraw two other payments on the 19th August one for £406.10 and a further £424.10 without authorisation and this included i international fees all amounting to £1379.84. We have filed caaess against them in Italy, they lied saying we made the pre-existing scratches and dented the passenger door, thank God I had photos to proove they were lying.
They told my lawyer they would pay the amount back but nothing. I have now been in touch with the card ussuer who will force them to gicw back the requested amount.

World's worst car hire company?

It was a shit experience which pretty much ruined a week in Italy. But hey, let's see what AI has to say about Filorent?

Here's an AI search on it's poor reputation:

The Bad: Hidden Fees & Aggressive Upselling
This is where the majority of negative reviews originate. On Trustpilot, the company often sits at a much lower rating due to:
Insurance Pressure: Staff are frequently reported to use "scare tactics" to sell their local insurance, sometimes claiming that third-party insurance (purchased via Expedia or Rentalcars.com) is invalid.
Credit vs. Debit Cards: They have strict rules about credit cards. Many customers complain of being forced to pay €500+ in extra fees or insurance if they only have a debit card or a "virtual" card.
Cleanliness Charges: A recurring complaint is being charged a €10–€20 cleaning fee if the car is returned even slightly dusty (a common issue in beach areas like Puglia).
3. The Ugly: Operational Hurdles
Shuttle Delays: Since most Filorent offices are located slightly off-airport, you must take a shuttle. Wait times can range from 10 minutes to over an hour during peak season.

Shuttle Delays: Since most Filorent offices are located slightly off-airport, you must take a shuttle. Wait times can range from 10 minutes to over an hour during peak season.

Strict "Late" Policy: If your flight is delayed and you arrive after their official closing time, you will likely be charged an "out-of-hours" fee (often €60+), or in some cases, they may mark you as a "no-show" and cancel the booking.

Damage Disputes: There are numerous reports of staff finding "micro-scratches" upon return and deducting significant amounts from the security deposit.

I had terrible experience with Filorent…

I had terrible experience with Filorent Car Rental.
We booked a car through another website, but when we arrived, they had a million confusing rules and requirements just to be able to pick up your car. And of course if you can not do what they ask they charge you, if you want to pick up vehicle you already paid for. But, the real issue was their attitude. No one tried to explain things or help us in a polite way; instead, they were rude and dismissive, simply telling us to leave if we couldn’t meet their conditions.

And to make matters worse, after finally paying, the car we received was dirty inside, full of sand, and clearly only washed on the outside. Absolutely unacceptable service. Would never rent from them again and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Long waiting time despite No Deposit service option

The handling through Sunny Cars is always good. However, the No Deposit service option was of little use in this case. At the local rental company, Filorent, we were still in line with people who hadn't booked this option, and the administrative process with them unfortunately took a very long time. We waited in line for at least an hour. I'd say they should have a separate service point for people with No Deposit service option.

Filorent Brindisi Francesco/Roberta Scam

I’m writing to share a detailed account of my recent experience with FiloRent, specifically at their Brindisi airport location, so others can be informed.

When I picked up the car, a staff member named Roberta was very friendly and assured me that the vehicle was brand new, putting me at ease. I returned the car fully washed and clean. However, upon returning it, another staff member named Francesco took photos and pointed out a minor scratch that I believe was either pre-existing or insignificant.

Roberta then insisted I pay 180 euros for a wheel replacement, giving me the option to pay immediately or claim it through insurance. When I questioned the charge, another individual appeared, refused to give me his name, and tried to intimidate me, making the whole situation feel like a coordinated scam.

Unfortunately, after I returned home from my flight, I looked up reviews about FiloRent and found that many other customers had reported similar experiences, confirming that this is a widespread issue.

In short, this experience at the Brindisi airport location felt like a planned scam. I’m sharing this so others can be informed and cautious.

SCAM ..THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY,UNRELIABLE

We rented through Easyjet thinking we were renting through a reputable company.
On arrival at Salerno Airport the car was released once we paid the outstanding balance and they also blocked a further 405 euros for security measures.
They provided a car with multiple scratches and they didn't provide the form with the current damages until I called them the next day and requested them.
The car was rented for 2 weeks, we ensured it was washed and petrol full as well as controlling there were no further damages to the car,all was cook.
When returning the car to the company there was no one at the car rental it was closed. The same guy who drives the car around turns up and and told us the company was at a funeral and he would take the car. We were skepticle and all appeared misterious. We questioned him and told him to double check all was ok. He said it wasn't necessary all looked fine and so long I had the form with the current damages I would be ok,plus in a matter of days they would unblock my 405 euros.
A few days ago I got a message from my credit provider telling me they had taken a further 825 euros from the card,I was absolutely furious, I called them for an explanation and they were lying telling us that one of the doors was dented,a complete lie, I double checked all. They are trying to avoid all contact and I am in the UK trying to fight this case. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS CAR RENTAL...THEY ARE NOT PERFORMING CORRECTLY!

Same scam as others, charged for pre-existing damage

Same dishonest practice as others have reported!

I experienced exactly the same situation that many others have described with this company. They lure you in with very low rental prices, then aggressively try to sell extra insurance at about €30 per day when you pick up the car. If you refuse, they will later charge you hundreds for “damages” that were already there.

The car I received already had several scratches and dents, but I didn’t document them at the time of pick up, unfortunately, a mistake they took full advantage of. When I returned it, they billed me €200 + VAT for a scratch, which I’m certain was there from the start.

Another trick they use is not giving you the car you reserved. Instead of the small, economical vehicle I booked, they handed me a much larger car, presenting it as a “present.” In reality, it’s just another way to increase fuel costs and make you more vulnerable to damage claims.

It’s obvious this is their business model: low prices to attract customers, pressure to buy overpriced insurance and if you decline, they find a way to charge you for damage you didn’t cause, often the same damage charged to multiple renters.

low prices are bait

Filorent offer low charges. But these are bait.
When you pick up the car they will agressively try to sell you supplementary insurance costing €30 per day. This is, in reality protection money. If you refuse to purchase the extra insurance, they will fine you €hundreds for non-existent damages.

We rented a car with many dents an scratches. Like many other customers, when we returned it, they fined us €180 + VAT for a scratch to the front bumper, even though the bumper was marked as damaged in the check out papers.

This is their business model. Cheap prices to attract customers. But these are bait. They sell expensive insurance. And if you do not buy them, they will charge you for "damage" to the car.

We sent Filorent photos of the pre-existing damage to reclami (I am not allowed to include the full email on trustpilot).
Filorent initially tried to ague that the photos were from AFTER the rental period, and that they were from a different part of the car.
I replied to them rebutting these claims, and told them they I had been advised to have no further communications with them, and that they will be hearing from my bank via VISA.

I then opened a Credit Card dispute with my bank, and send them a summary of my case as well as my supporting evidence (timestamped photos).
I also opened a claim with the price-comparison website which had issued the voucher.
Filorent immediately replied acknowledging their "mistake" and telling me they will refund the money (which they now have done).

This has taken several hours of phone calls. But I now have my money back.

Subject: Urgent: Drop-Off Issue and Poor Service Experience

Dear Filorent Team,

I am writing to express our disappointment with the service we received regarding our car drop-off on July 19th.

As arranged with your team via phone and WhatsApp on Wednesday, we were scheduled to return the rental car at 4:00 AM due to our early flight. The receptionist confiremd that 4am will be perfect and that the shuttle service back to the airport would be available by then. However, the experience was far from acceptable:

1. Incorrect Address: The address provided in the rental documents was incorrect. We copied and pasted the EXACT address as per your documents on google maps. We arrived at the location listed and found it to be the wrong place. Thankfully, we had planned extra time and were able to locate the correct drop-off point ourselves.

2. No One Present for Drop-Off: Once we reached the correct location, we called and honked repeatedly, but no one responded or arrived to receive the car.

3. Proof of Our Presence: To protect ourselves, we recorded a video at the location to confirm we were there at the scheduled time as agreed.

4. Final Action Taken: As we could not wait any longer due to our flight, we left the car at the airport parking lot and placed the keys in the designated rental safety box, as advised by airport security.

Even after many attempts to contact the Filorent team, €443 was still deducted from our credit card. The lack of communication and professionalism has caused unnecessary stress during our travel, and we are very disappointed with how this was handled.

Kindly provide us with a breakdown as to why €443 was dedudcted. Looking forward to your prompt response and resolution.

Overcharging

I have rented numerous cars over the years and while you nearly expect a sales pitch or rip off extras this company were they worst. I paid an extra fee initially for late opening to 10pm as I had a late flight. I arrived at 9:20pm and starting contacting the office to collect me as agreed but they were late doing the which resulted in handing over the keys at 10:10pm for my rental car. As 10 mins past 10pm I had to pay another 70e for another late opening on top
Of what I already paid. Then the drop off was even worse, the car was handed back in perfect condition and with more fuel than i received. They wanted 100e deep clean because the car needed a hoover. I explained while on a family holiday with 2 kids we don’t pack a hoover to clean a rental car. They knew time was tight and I had to catch a flight home so insisted they wanted this charge. After a long battle and pure stress they said it was ok. Never again will I use this company.

Filorent Salerno - best avoided

Not many car hire options out of Salerno airport I know, but if you have to use these guys then take full insurance out - we didn't and ended up with a EUR 100 charge, but it could easily have been 100s given their way of working. So better to just avoid, in my opinion.

Here's an email I sent to their central reservations 3 weeks ago once back home. No acknowledgement or reply. Tells you all you need to know:

---

Dear XXX

Thank you for your reply, however I do find the tone of it un-necessarily aggressive because you don't yet know whether my complaint is a matter for which I actually need to provide proof of the contrary, maybe it is a case of bad attitude and lack of professionalism...

I will take a few moments to explain it to you and then I will leave it with you.

As you will have seen from my original email where I attached 2 documents, there was a first check which we were told was fine. No mention at all was made of any problem with the bumper. At the time there were some problems with the iPad being used and your manager was moving between our vehicle and another identical one, maybe the bumper problem was with the other vehicle and not ours.

Either way, we were told that all was OK, there was nothing more to pay, and the young woman who inspected the car told us we were good to go to the airport and we signed off the rental agreement to leave on that basis. We had been waiting around 30 minutes by then.

As we were getting into the van, we were stopped and informed that the manager had seen scratches on one of the wheels. This was AFTER we had signed off the rental agreement on the basis of there being nothing more to pay. For all we knew, the vehicle could have been moved while we were going to the van and the scratches caused during that. Either way, this was not our responsibility because we had already signed a rental agreement on the basis of there being no chargeable damage. No problem with the bumper was mentioned to us at any point during this.

I told the manager that I was not going to sign a second document and accept any charges relating to problems arising after we had signed the first one, and he told me that he still had control of my deposit and it would be deducted anyway.

At that moment I realised that if I didn't sign that second document there was the possibility that further damage could be found, or even possibly created, and billed to our credit card. Another 30 minutes or so had passed, we needed to get to the airport, and we were completely relying on a lift from your people to get to the airport which would otherwise have been a long walk in big heat. So I reluctantly signed that second document to close out the rental and ensure no further charges could be made. No mention of damage to the bumper was made at any time during this - only of scratches on one of the wheels.

Throughout this time, both the young woman who had originally checked us out and the driver of the van were clearly very embarrassed by the behaviour of your manager.

So, that is exactly what happened.

The EUR 91,50 for the damage to the wheel I can afford to lose, it is not the cost of this which is the problem it is the way in which it has been handled because you clearly can't agree between you whether I was charged for the bumper or the wheel and either way I should not have been asked to sign a second rental check-out document against the threat of my deposit being taken away if I did not.

My current plan is to simply copy and paste the above events into a few review sites and let other people decide whether or not they would like to use your Salerno airport depot on this basis, which will I am sure cost Filorent a lot more in lost business than the EUR 91,50 which I was charged.

If a refund of that EUR 91,50 comes back to me by the middle of this week along with an apology for how this was dealt with then I will feel less inclined to post such negative reviews.

The choice is yours.

All the best

Chris

WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE – SCAMMERS IN SALERNO

Avoid Filorent at all costs. This company is nothing short of a scam operation. We were treated with complete disrespect from the moment we arrived — rude staff, aggressive attitude, and zero interest in helping customers.

But the worst part? They charged us for damages that were clearly already there when we picked up the car. We even pointed out scratches beforehand, but they refused to mark them properly. When we returned the vehicle, they suddenly “discovered” those same scratches and billed us hundreds of euros without explanation or evidence. It felt like a setup from the start — they know exactly what they’re doing.

No transparency. No professionalism. Just fraud masked as a car rental business.

Filorent is a disgrace — dishonest, predatory, and utterly untrustworthy. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere.

The worst experience with car rental…

The worst experience with car rental ever .
We rent 2 cars choosing the type of cars that was available at the website.
When we arrived there they made us wait 3 hours and at the end they gave us not the cars we have reserved for but 2 other cars.
Barbara told us that one car has a scratch on the right side , and this damage would be communicated
to the company so when we return the cars the last day this wouldn’t be a problem.
But doesn’t happened like this , when we brought the cars at the office to check them out they told us that we should pay this damage even it wasn’t made from us but because in the contract wasn’t mentioned.
Meanwhile we was talking with Barbara at phone and she accepted that the damaged was from before they didn’t accept to close the check-out and forced us to accept this , and we should go at airport asap because our flight was 30 minutes later .
They do insurance fraud .
Don’t choose this company if you dont want
to ruin your vacation. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone

Strongly urge Do not use this company unless you have car hire excess on place!!

Do not use this company unless you have car hire excess in place. They extort money!! The clients before us and then also us were charged for a mark that was already there and showing on our video. However they said they couldn’t see the little mark on the video. It was only just visible because It was so minor and it was hard to pick up as it was a light coloured car and a very faint mark. It was actually so minor that They had to photograph the area at least a dozen times before they finally were able to just about capture it. I also photographed it quite a few times but still couldn’t quite capture it! Funny thing was when we returned the car they went immediately to that area on the rear drivers side to inspect!! A strange area to start!! Our shuttle driver who then took us back to the airport admitted the manager was in a bad mood and there was barely anything visible!! It cost us two hundred euro which we will claim back on our car hire excess, but it is the principal. We arrived there two and a half hours before our flight departed and thank goodness we did!! They stung the previous couple to us even though the girl originally signed their car off as having no damage, then the manager who was the guy in the bad mood decided he could see damage on their wheel and charged them. He was a very arrogant and rude man. We arrived at the airport with half an hour to spare having been there for so long. I know there’s not many car hire company’s to choose from in Salerno but i would urge you not to give them your business unless you have car hire excess in place, have plenty of time to spare, and do not get annoyed or let it put a damper on your holiday because of the principal of it!

Charges for scratch and had to wait 1 hour to check car in

Waited 1 hour to check car in, the girl walked outside straight to the rear door and took a picture. I had taken a video on arrival to pick the car up and you can clearly see scratch on the door the car was light grey so very hard to see. They would not accept the video as it was not a photo with a date stamp although we showed the video date stamp. I explained it was so small I would have taken a picture had I noticed it? I showed them the video time and dated they would not accept it. They were rude offensive and even one of the staff said the manager is in a very bad mood on arrival. The couple before us was charged for a mark on a wheel crazy. This is a rip off do not use Filorent Solerno or do so at your own risk and photograph every panel not video even if you can’t see the scratches. It took the girl 10 attempts in the shade to photograph the scratch that was 10mm if that. I will be complaining to there head office but looking at the reviews they already know what’s going on in Filorent Solerno. I don’t usually right reviews but getting a €200 for a minuscule scratch that was there before we picked it up is crazy and to add insult to injury it was €100 to begin with then doubled when I was not happy, go figure. You have been warned…..DO NOT USE Filorent Solerno……... if I could review 0 I would do so poor poor rip off service from Filorent just look at the reviews to see I’m not the only one. Oh one last note he said do you have insurance and I said I have my own annual policy he said don’t worry then just claim them, I said I don’t like to claim on principle unless it is my fault this was here before I got the car.

Our confirmation stated that it was on…it was on site car hire but it was far from that!

Our confirmation stated that it was on airport pick up and drop off. When we got to Salerno we were sent a WhatsApp with a pin drop and were told to get a taxi to it. There were no taxis and so we rang and were told to hurry up as they wanted to close! On explaining there were no taxis the said they would pick us up. However, they had had a problem with the police so they were not allowed to use their minibus. We finally got to their offices and over 1 1/2 hours we finally got a car. On return, we went to their offices and it was locked. We phoned and WhatsApp them but no response. So we had no choice but to drive to the airport so as not to miss our flight. At the airport we rang them for the 4th time and they answered. They told us we could not leave the car there. There was no offer to come and get the car. We then had to drive back to their offices only returning with less than an hour to our flight. All very stressful. Do not use them unless you have no other choice. No apology for misleading on site location or all the issues with them. The car was good so one redeeming feature of the whole debacle! Not a professional car hire company!
