Find a Grave is part of the M cult with…

Find a Grave is part of the M cult with headquarters in Salt Lake City -- pure and simple. Look into the history of it and you will see for yourself. Their whole interest in genealogy stems from the bizarre doctrine of being baptized for the dead and sealing them into the "heavenly family", whether or not they were "believers" during their lifetime.
There will always be those who are totally ignorant of their heritage and will give FAG 5 Star kudos for helping them find a loved one's final resting place. But the majority of people I see posting negatively say that FAG is totally unaware of the "whack-os" they harbor within their family (or tolerate them due to their massive FREE contributions). ”I think I'm addicted to graving" as one member put it -- and FAG does nothing about them as long as they have long membership years and thousands of memorial creations.
These addicted members bully other members, especially family members of the deceased, by every means possible as long as their name and their contributions (correct or incorrect) are left undisturbed by family members. It's sort of, "I know more about your grandfather than you do" mentality, which to my way of thinking is totally bizarre and is an extreme form of narcissistic behavior.
Attempt to step around ONE of their moronic Guidelines and Community Standards, and FAG staff will hound you to death, even threatening expulsion from FAG (which threats violate their own Guidelines against threatening another member -- go figure!).
EVERYTHING becomes de facto their property so don't post anything on this site. You will lose all control over your information. They seem especially intent on gathering PHOTOS of your departed loved ones so don’t post any photos. Don’t waste your time jumping through all their hoops to correct wrong information of a family member. It is just not worth the hassle and lack of common sense you will encounter with FAG staff.
Do your own family research, keep it closed off from the prying eyes of others, and be aware of the ownership (covert) of all the sites owned or managed by this cult-driven organization headquarted in UTAH.

Find-a-Grave, Ancestry.com and Plagiarism

Its seems generally unknown that Find-a-Grave is owned by Ancestry.com. Because the entities are related, for some Find-a-Grave contributors, this may present an unwelcome open copywrite situation. Any info or photos one posts at Fine-a-Grave can (legally) be plagiarized by an Ancestry Member allowing them to creat a Family Tree of the Find-a-Grave's family. Based on personal experience at Ancestry.com, there seems to be a competion amoung some Ancestry members to create the most number of Family Trees. So they go over to Find-a-Grave and plagiarise information and photos. This may be annouying but just another sign that posting hard-won personal data and precious photos on the internet opens up the front door to most everyone. My advise: Watermark photos posted at Find-a-Grave and minimize information posted. If one wishes, use Ancestry.com only for research and/or join Free WikiTree (yes Free) and create your profiles, biographies and classify them as "Private" i.e. unseeable by public until the subject is more than 100 years old etc.

Awful

Awful. They withhold information for 3 months, if you're looking for someone, even a family member, you will not get any grave info for 3 months. Contact them...they don't care. Plus it's controlled by the major contributors, you can't even manage your OWN FAMILY memorials.

Initially useful. Now it's just a competition between ego driven users.

Initially found it helpful but I now have members from other branches of the family asking to take over the memorials I put hard work and time into filling out. It's become a competition obviously as this person is supposedly managing almost 4,000 memorials now. Put your egos aside and do not forget, this is about rememberance, not self grandiose.

Findagrave.com is a joke

Findagrave.com is a joke and it's honestly more about who has the most and controls the most memorials. There are people who have over 13,000 memorials and yet we are told they are allowed to have them because they manage them. I have had to ask them several times to remove my great-grandparents, my grandparents, and my father yet they refuse because they think that somehow some random stranger is going to know him as family more than I do. They allow members to violate copyright laws and use copyrighted material without any consequences. I sent them proof 3 times that I had politely asked a person by the name of Herr Strauss to remove them and he has still not responded. I will just file a complaint against findagrave.com for violating my copyrighted material.

Just looking up immediate family…

Just looking up immediate family obituaries and this website pops up. Not long after I see that and estranged member of family has control over memorials of people that she had mistreated when they were alive..it makes me very sad and sad to see the falsehoods she has posted. Website was no help to get resolved

Gravesite listed for my friend who is alive

I was looking for a friend and her name, info, photograph and the cemetery where she was buried came up. I was so sad my friend had died... until six months later I received a call from her and found out she is still alive. Findagrave.com is totally unreliable. Avoid this site at all costs.

Impossible to sign up or sign in

Signing in and registering is a nightmare. Half the time it doesn't register things properly. I had to register 4 times, all because I was trying to send flowers to a single grave.

The first time I used a Firefox relay email and it said there was something wrong with the email. I didn't blame them for that, but when I used my real email it did the same thing. I had to re-register the second time because it didn't realize the captcha had been completed. Then, even though I activated my account through the email, it didn't register that I did that either and I had to have the activation email sent again.

And then after all that, it still wouldn't let me sign in because "Something's wrong with your email/password" ?????

Why do you even need to sign in to do something as simple as send a digital flower?

My recent experience with Find a Grave…

My recent experience with Find a Grave left me deeply disappointed. I contacted them regarding an ongoing situation with a volunteer, Becky Bergstrom, who has repeatedly interfered with my family’s memorials. I provided clear documentation of my identity, including my birth certificate and my mother’s obituary listing all her children. Despite this, Becky was not asked to provide any proof of her own connection to my family, yet she retained control over certain memorials.

When I tried to explain the history and the distress this has caused, the representative handling my case, Charla Ann, dismissed my concerns and demonstrated little empathy. In her final message, she questioned why I believed Becky might be mentally unwell — despite the detailed accounts I had already provided — and even suggested I should be “grateful” to her for maintaining the gravesites.

While I appreciate the concept of Find a Grave, my personal experience left me feeling unheard, unsupported, and treated unequally. In sensitive matters of grief, consistency and compassion should come first — unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Grief is hard enough — the way I was treated here made it harder.

I had a memorial I made for my Uncle

I had a memorial I made for my Uncle. Someone else made a memorial for him about 2 weeks later. Someone reported the duplicate & removed the other memorial, but Findagrave took control of my memorial and took it out of my control. Yes my Uncle is a famous celebrity & he was marked as my uncle, but how can they just take him out of my memorials without asking me to even transfer first> This is bullshit!

Bullies

Bullies on the site. Seriously bad ones. I was threatened daily until I finally disconnected my account. Turned it in to the site managers and never heard back. As soon as I disconnected they told me they couldn't do anything since I disconnected from them. What a waste of time. I agree with all the other reviews about people wanting to have as many as they can have. And they do NOT give you your relative like their policy says. Lazy customer service, which is no service at all. Not sure what this site if for, maybe just to have a photo of the gravesite, but certainly nothing more. They had wrong info on my immediate family and one guy told me if I wanted it changed I needed to send him all the records and certificates (death, birth etc.). That's not up to them. Frustration abound.

They allowed me to correct my…

They allowed me to correct my grandmother’s dates of birth and death (given incorrectly by a 3rd or 4th cousin) - but now someone called Julia has taken over my account (no relation) and I cannot sign in to make further corrections, recently discovered. So Julia is now responsible for altering history.

Find a Grave is a joke

Find a Grave is a joke. I made pages for my nephews adopted family. A man listed the cemeteries before I did and they gave him my pages. I thought you were entitled to the pages of family members? Now some egotistical old man who didn’t even care that was my extended family has them? Unbelievable.

Find a grave

the Find a grave is a must if you are doing Ancestry searches . you just have to know how to use it correctly and some of the information you have to provide yourself , and one of the really good things i like about it is the Volunteers all over the world who will happily take a photo on request . you have to remember that most of the Memorials are put on by the Users so you have to search a bit and hopefully someone can help , and you can also contact there support staff who are always very helpful

Bullying and Harassment by FaG Support Staff

Find a grave are nothing but a carriage service for bullying and harassment. In fact find a grave themselves are guilty of sending bullying and harassing emails. Now I understand why there are so many vile individuals on this site, find a grave supports and encourages this appalling behaviour. The fact that they have not been reported for online cyber bullying beggars belief. But give it time! There is constant corruption of plot information by so called 'managers' and FaG do nothing about it. Makes me wonder what they do all day. Oh, that's right they spend their day sending out hundreds of harassing emails. When Ancestry hitched themselves to this dump of a site they have seriously done themselves a disservice. Well done Jim Tipton, your site is now a runaway train wreck!

Important Site for Family Research

If you are doing geneology then this is a must use site along with the ryserson index in Australia.

The sort of people complaining seem to be similar to the ones that think they own the road outside their place and no one else should park there.

Quality varies as per any site that relies on volunteers (who don't suddenly become Einsteins).

I have had the worst experience with Find A Grave

I have had the worst experience with Find A Grave, There's a contributor who spends 24/7 collecting obituaries the Second it gets posted and doesn't allow anyone else to grab, This contributor does NOT go to cemeteries and volunteers what so ever, He has more memorials than photographs, When I left the site, I specifically asked find a grave to send them to a few of my Find A Grave friends to which by the way, 100% failed to do so, and that one contributor I did NOT want to get any of my memorials grabbed like 90% of em!! and changed what I had done. One thing that drove me crazy is that this person removes the period by the middle initial which I dont have a clue why, Its not his to start with. Admins cherish this person since He has broken all the rules in the Find A Grave thing, Create duplicates, sending nasty emails to others, etc. and I got yelled at by the admins for duplicates. Like I don't think so. This person did his damnest to get rid of me, well he has succeeded. I got tired of this same thing over and over again. For someone who managed nearly 200k memorials and photos which btw most of them were copyright from other peoples work is less than 20k, what does that say? I had more photos than memorials which means I was a true volunteer, I dont sit around all day and all night collecting memorials so no one gets them and get mad everytime someone asks for a transfer cause your losing 1 memorial.. oh boo hoo...
