I am writing to share my experience with Finest Web Studios, also known as Webtree Design, among other aliases they use to scam unsuspecting victims online. My ordeal with this company began in the fall of 2022 when I was searching for a reputable web design service for my start-up.
I came across a page led by a gentleman named Qavi, whose contact information is displayed in the attached image. He claimed to be a UK citizen who had left a big tech company to start his own design firm. His convincing UK accent initially put me at ease. However, my doubts began when I received a WhatsApp message from an Indian gentleman named “Ben” and another individual named “Jeff,” both claiming to be my project managers.
Shortly after signing up for their services, I ended up in the hospital. Just a day after my discharge in 2023, Ben called, pressing for additional payment to complete the project. This raised my suspicions. They seemed skilled in using scare tactics and had a knack for making you feel comfortable enough to send money or pay for unnecessary services.
Despite paying 50% of the development cost, communication dwindled. Whenever I called, I was told Ben was “busy with clients on another line.” They always had an excuse for their unavailability. My investigation led me to discover another business name, Webtree Design, listed in Altanama, CA. A visit to the Sheriff's office revealed it was a fake address. That was when I realized I had been scammed.
Upon confronting them, they spun more fake stories. I filed a complaint with the California Attorney General's office, and they, too, received deceptive responses. I contacted the LA Police Department, which couldn't locate their office, and finally, the FBI. We are still in the process of tracking this fraudulent company and their representatives, who have mastered online deception and customer scamming.
They deserve to be behind bars, and I am determined to see them found and arrested. It seems their list of victims is growing, and it's crucial for the state of California to take decisive action to shut down their scam operations.
