Mercury Card Financial

Mercury Card Financial, issued by this company has failed to protect me from fraudsters. They took false documents sent by the fraudsters and based the decision in their favor and overturned the chargeback making me pay 1,295.00. After making payments on a bogus charge I sent a demand letter to work the issue out. They refuse to answer the claim and have no means to speak. They are harassing and threatening every day. When i refused to pay, they ;literally ruined my credit. Small claims is being served this week.

They Don't Care About Their Customers

This bank was great before First Bank and Trust bought them out, now its all gone downhill. The employees do not care about the customers. I had money stolen from my account and not one person at First Bank and Trust would actually do anything to help me. Their fraud department doesn't do anything. I did however get a letter from the bank president threatening legal action against me if I try to go to a branch or contact any employee there after I tried fighting for myself for 7 weeks. I even had a branch manager tell me that "sometimes you're just SOL" and now the bank denies it and denies any wrongdoing. They did close my account on me after 17 years.

Been banking with this bank over 25…

Been banking with this bank over 25 years and 12 years ago you could not ask for better peoples, helpful kind and forgiven. And I do not mean just letting one buy with not having money and them replacing. Just Good kind hearted everyday people's, now they give less than 24 hours to charge one a over draft fee and any chance they receive to do so they do no matter if it sets one behind for months or even if it takes away from a small child. I will be seeking another bank because this one has become a black rock chain and satan owns all of that.Diabolical people at the top. RIP first bank and trust.

Can a Credit Card Be Racist

Can a Credit Card Be Racist? I've had Mercury card (issed by First Bank and Trust) for years, without a hitch. I paid my bill, pretty much in full every month. No issue. Then I took a trip to Ghana with this card and it all went wrong. I set up a travel alert before I left and thought everything would be okay. Boy was I wrong!

Everywhere I went in that country, each charge I tried to make with Mercury card got flagged as too high of a security risk to allow the transaction. Even when I called the customer service line to verify my identity, declaring that I was trying to make a legit transaction (as I was making the transaction), they couldn't or wouldn't clear it up. I was told that the tranaction had to go through an investigation that would take 3 to 5 days (my trip would be over by then), but I was free to use my card at an alternate safer location. Tried it... at a museum, my hotel, gift shop at Elmina Castle. Nothing would work. Are you kidding me! I spoke to several service reps on that trip with no resolution. They effectively froze my card becuase I took a trip to West Africa (that I informed them I was taking ahead of time), and had the nerve to try to use my Mercury card. I was traveling with other people, who had credit cards from other banks. They were able to use their cards in the same places with no problem. What was wrong with my Mercury card. I will shout it to the hills, "I think my Mercury card is racist!" They have some kind of policy bias in their system that flat out refused to allow a tranaction in Ghana.

The snail mail response I got back from First Bank and Trust after writing them about my ordeal...a highlight of the "Credit Authorization" section of my credit card agreement that says, "Transactions may not be authorized for security reasons... (and) If we decline... we will not be liable to you." Classy. So legally you're not liable for anything, but they are guilty of giving me an unapologetic terrible experience with their business. BEWARE. I would not use this card as a backup financial resource in West Africa. You might just be stranded relying on them.
