See the Causeway Coast, the Glens of Donegal or the Sperrin Mountains and never meet another vehicle. Join us for an off-road adventure with lots of bumps and boggy squelching as our 4x4s follow the bouncing trail of hares and the agile path of mountain sheep to see some of Ireland’s wildest places. Book now to find your way to untouched beaches, ancient beauty and secret sanctuaries. Don’t forget your duncher (that’s a flat cap)—or your wellies! Let us know whether you want to explore the craggy coastline of North Antrim, the majestic glens of Donegal or the unspoiled beauty of the Sperrin Mountains. Whichever route you choose, your party will be treated to off-road rollicking as we take on countryside that is strange to everything but sheep. Stop to track wildlife, photograph bog cotton and smell the country air. Watch the birdlife—or play in the waves. Enjoy family fun or time with friends as you make memories in the wild. Our routes follow special ordnance survey trails which we have plotted and planned. You won’t see any vehicle other than our Land Rover as we bump and bounce through bog land on our way to some of our island’s most secret beauty spots. We hope to see you soon!

Greenlaning weekend

Just back from an amazing offroad Greenlane 4x4 weekend through the Inishowen Peninsula of Donegal.
Adam clearly spends alot of time organising the tours and gaining access permission from land owners. The tours take in trails from sealevel beach runs to mountain top 4x4 playgrounds (great craic).
Very well organised, clear communications and a great chance to meet other like minded people, would recommend 💯% 👍

Our Donegal Adventure

We enjoyed a rugged, exciting visit to northern County Donegal. We buckled up for an off-road adventure to parts of Donegal otherwise inaccessible. Lots of photo opportunities. We enjoyed spending the day with Adam.

Very unique, once in a lifetime experience

Adam offered my group something that I can honestly say NONE of the other passengers on our ship got to enjoy. We got the raw country side as the people that live there see it. We had wild sheep, random gates, old roads, sweeping views, rugged mountains, fluffy clouds over exotic ridges, and the patchwork shades of green that Ireland can offer! It was stunning! Our guide took us to McGrory's Pub and I can promise there were no other tourists from our ship there. Then there was the Famine Village. A very serious little museum meant to educate the world on Ireland's history up to the 80s. So many things that I never knew. I knew Ireland was divided over religion but not to the extent I witnessed at this museum. A definite must see if in Northern Ireland! I had 8 excursions on this cruise(my first cruise) and can honestly say this was by far the most unique excursion and my entire group's favorite out of all. Every. Single. Person in my group voted this was our favorite. THIS IS A MUST WHEN VISITING NORTHERN IRELAND!

THE Best Part of our European Vacation

We just arrived home from an eleven day cruise with stops at around 9 ports. My trip was amazing, but I wanted to start by saying this was, by far, my favorite excursion of the entire trip. I worried taking a non-cruise sponsored excursion. For future travelers, you shouldn't have any worries chosing this one. Adam communicated regularly before the trip, and I never worried about anything once we were in his vehicle. I felt confident we would be back to the ship in plenty of time.
This trip let us see parts of Ireland most people visiting don't get to see on a typical tour. Ever hill we went over was breathtaking. This was a 4x4 adventure excursion in Adam's Land Rover. It was the perfect way of having some adventures without being exhausting physically (though I'm sure he can change things up for different tour types).
We also visited Doagh Famine Villiage with Adam, and he took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch that was so good and far away from all the cruise ship crowds. We stopped at a beautiful beach, and other places to enjoy the scenery and take photos. I am especially thankful to Adam for going around things a little to take me through a small town that my great grandparents were from.
I would like to come back to Ireland with my husband, and after all the things we were able to do on this trip (including Paris, London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Bruges, and more), this is the one thing I know I'd want to do again.

Top-Tier experience

This was a fantastic experience. Not only did Adam show us the beautiful landscape of Ireland but took us to see the history of Ireland as well! The views were beautiful but what really made the experience for me was Adam. He’s a very down-to-Earth guy who loves what he does and loves sharing his passion with others while being very nice and welcoming. I will be booking with Flatcap Adventures again in the future

Spend a day with a local away from the crowds

The name suits them! If you want an adventure, you will find it here.

My husband and I spent a day with Adam off-roading in County Donegal near Downings. This part of our trip was planned only a week in advance as one our accommodations fell through at the last minute (it was a blessing in disguise!). Adam was very responsive and flexible, and had great recommendations for where to go to see the road less traveled. We put our trust in him and he delivered! Our day started out pretty foggy and we weren't sure how much we'd be able to see as we were in a mountainous area. By mid-day things cleared up as if it was meant to be. Either way it would have been a great day. The scenery was absolutely stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed Adam's company. It was great talking with him and hearing stories about the land. He was an excellent driver, and even going up some steep slopes we never felt unsafe. He was even so kind as to pick us up/drop us off where we were staying. We will always remember our time with Flat Cap Adventurers, especially the part where we ALMOST got stuck in the mud. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Amazing Experience... Unforgettable Locations

Had a great day out with Adam aka Flat Cap Adventures! We would never been able to view beautiful areas of Ireland without their guidance and of course their comfortable landrover. We experienced new heights that took us well off the beaten track and to top it off stunning coastal views. Highly recommended if you're looking for an amazing experience and unforgettable locations. If you're unsure which experience to book speak with Adam directly. He's a lovely guy and will be able to advise you to make sure you get the best experience possible.

Amazing experience Adam and his trusty steed Arthur provided my wife and I with a great day of off-roading to reach and view the beautiful Irish landscape, he even booked the sunshine so we got some great pictures. The day was a perfect during for the money and I would recommend his tours to all.

Off road trails

Mick
I have been on three trips with Adam, one in Ireland and two in Wales all three trips were awesome leaving you wanting more.A more laid back person you could never meet, amicable, easy going and welcomes all newcomers into the fold.
My first trip to Ireland, travelling up from Bolton was an eye opener the scenery was breathtaking and all the locals super friendly.I left wanting more and will definitely be going back for more.
The two trips to Wales were equally as enjoyable testing the trucks with the challenging routes and wet weather on the first visit to Wales. This didn't dampen the spirits as most who attended the first trip were there on the second trip.
I'm looking forward to Lakes coming up soon,as this will have a different spin on it with hotels included.
If your up for a bit of adventure and meet new friends I advise u to give it a go.

Off roading newbies

My daughter, her friend and I took an afternoon trip with The Flat Caps and was driven by Adam for our very first taster 'off road" experience in the Sperrins. Was an unforgettable afternoon, and great introduction. We were all struck by Adams' passion and also by his care and consideration of the environment. It was great to hear of his plans for the future, which include collection of items dumped in the countryside and recycling them correctly. Cannot wait for our next trip out with the Flat Cap Adventurers.
