A very long wait for my Jaffa to…

A very long wait for my Jaffa to arrive. It was easy to put together.

I've done two longish rides now ( taking my cue from the PM) and loved the speed. I havent used the assistance much but It certainly makes a very steep hill near my home very easy, even at level 1.
I haven't got to grips with the mileometer yet
Its a very sturdy bike, the seat is pretty comfortable but the seatpost tends to wear loose and then the seat slips down.
I find the lack of a kick stand irritating as the bike swings around if you are not on a flat surface.
A further issue is the clip for the front wheel as you fold it up. It seems not to be quite deep enough and as I am small, I cant carry the bike with one hand. When I grab it, the wheel pops out of the clip.

If you dont gear assistance down at traffic lights, you can have a shocking surge forwards when the green light flashes !
I find the handle bar post irritating too as it is very sensitive and swings when you go over speed humps. when a white van man is on your tail, its quite scary. But some of these things may be because I haven't ridden for 3 years and this is the first time on London roads.

Im glad of the Lockdown as the roads are not as busay as normal. making it a perfect time to get used to Jaffa.

With regards to the seat post slipping, it might be the case that the thumb screw on the seatpost clamp needs tightening. You can find instructions on how to do so here: https://flit.bike/knowledge-base/how-to-adjust-the-saddle-height/ (see the adjusting the quick release section). Give that a try and let us know if it doesn't work - you can reach us support@flit.bike at any time.

With regards to the front wheel not locking on the retaining hook / loop - where are you holding the bike when you carry it? If you are holding it on the top tube and fork by the front wheel this will mean that the hook and loop can't stay together. If you need to hold the bike with two hands, it might be better to hold the top tube in your right hand and the top headset arm (the part that connects the front of the bike to the top tube) in your left. We will send you a photo via email so that you can see what we mean. Give this a go and see if it solves the problem - if not please let us know.

You're right that the assistance does take some time getting used to! It's a very responsive system so you don't need to apply much pressure when pushing off as you on a non-electric bike. For flat city riding we find that assistance level 3 is more than enough - but it's a personal preference.

With regards to the handlebars - they can feel more responsive that handlebars on a normal sized bike, so they do take some getting used to at first. If you are finding this still after lots of riding please let us know.

Now is definitely a good time to get used to your ebike! Hopefully as you get used to riding you'll find the bike more natural feeling. Let us know if you have any more feedback as you do ride - we'd love to hear it.

Fabulous help - always!

This is a longish review, but it's worth reading, as it shows the superlative way in which the people at Flit respond to problems.

I found my first two outings on the bike very challenging, as if the bike was somehow underpowered, compared to the demonstration model I rode a year ago. However, during my third ride, I finally realised that the motor wasn't connected.

As soon as I made contact with Alex about this, Dave got back to me, and we put together a plan to have the bike sorted out locally.

Despite this being successfully done, though, I still found I couldn't manage the bike. So Dave asked me to send it back, so they could check it out thoroughly. Gemma arranged the courier, while Dave and Alex made a very fine video showing me how to repack the bike, and all went smoothly.

Dave stripped my Flit down completely, in case it had an intermittent fault. He then rebuilt it, and took it out for a long, challenging test ride. After doing all this, he knew for sure that there was no problem with the bike at all.

By now, it was clear that I had become too weak to pedal, as my health and energy had deteriorated considerably since my test ride in January 2020.

To my absolute astonishment, the people at Flit decided to refund my money in full, even though there was nothing at all wrong with my bike. I tried to persuade them to keep at least some of it to cover all their expenses on my behalf, but they wouldn't hear of it.

So, I have reached the end of my cycling career, and packed up my gear for the charity shop. The way the people at Flit have related to me over all this has been incredibly helpful, leaving me with good memories, rather than a sense of loss.

At every stage, it has been a great pleasure to interact with all the people at Flit. Each one has done their best for me, and at all times I knew that they really cared about me, and wanted me to have one last chance to ride again.

Well designed and made

Well designed and made, easy to use (even folding), super simple e-bike controls (without over-engineered clutter and gimmicks) and superb handling that lets you forget its size. We also have 2 VanMoofs and a non-electric Brompton and the Flit is the most versatile of all.

Palatinate Flit Cycle Team

Back in September 2019 my wife and I travelled from Leicestershire to Cambridge for a Flit promotional event. I have to say I was so impressed by the product but even more by the Flit team. They where very accommodating with their time, with good in-depth knowledge of the product and a clear vision for where they want to take it.

My wife and I was so impressed by the Flit team, we ordered a Flit 16, when we got home from the event.

We were so confident their clear vision would drive them to improve the product further and despite the challenges of COVID-19 they did just that.

Their resolve to deliver a new product in this very difficult times says everything about this team. Plus even when doing all this, using their web site and countless email communications, they have taken their customers (initial backers), with them on this remarkable journey.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Flit to anyone looking for a cycle from a team who cares.

Flit Cycle
Purchased for my wife who has had two knee replacements. She needed a cycle with a smooth cycling action, low crossbar for ease of getting on and off. Flit meets all these needs and looks a well engineer and quality product. This is a ideal cycle for exploring when on holiday as it folds down to fit in the boot of our car with ease. Only got this cycle recently therefore, can't say how it will stand the test of time but its looking a good buy to date.

After some crowdfunding emails and a spot on Fully Charged I made test ride enquiries for a Flit-16 in May 2020 and as soon as lockdown was lifted the co-founder arranged a home visit. My wife (the intended user) loved it seeing as it got her up the "steep bit" with minimal effort. Great communication with Flit, walking me through a cycle-to-work application, regular updates on manufacture and tracking the cargo ship from Taiwan all added to an enjoyable experience.

Fantastic team and product

An excellent aid to my commute

I'm delighted with my new e-bike, which I'm now using once a week to travel to my office in Westminster. It's comfortable, the suspension is very good, and it's hugely exciting to feel the burst of power beneath you when you start pedalling! The folding mechanism is very intuitive, and it takes up very little room in my hallway. In addition, the FLIT team have been very helpful and responsive throughout the process of ordering the bike. Great work everyone!
