The Privacy Focused Solution Has Arrived!
What made the experience great was the fact that it's open source, transparent and privacy focused. It's user interface is also very familiar to one that I cannot mention because I don't want this review to be interpreted as promotional content. Trying to follow the Trustpilot guidelines.
Anyway, all I will say is it's extremely straight forward, easy to use and transtion over to. It's accessibility friendly too. Anyone with visual impairments or blindness can operate Fluxer. There are also other features such as custom theming to make accessibility even better for those who have visual impairments. There is also TTS (Text to Speech) for the blind. This is something many, many platforms out there neglect to include in their software. Another great mention is the menus and features are easy to locate and navigate. Youc an also log into more than one account at the same time and manage them without having to log one account out to use another account. Very cool feature.
The founder and CEO of Fluxer Platform AB LLC, is Hampus Kraft. The company owner is transparent and respects privacy - which in today's world, we all know is a very important priority for a lot of people today. The numbers keep growing.
Though Fluxer is still facing many challenges and has had some trouble at launch with an insane influx of new users on a platform that wasn't set to launch yet, all considered, it's doing very well and has stabilised immensely since he and his team upgraded the infrastructure. There's still some hiccups, but it's well on its way to proving it can be a serious competitor in the internet communications industry.
Another noteworthy point is that they've got plans to add E2EE (End-to-End Encryption). At present there is TLS encryption to encrypt data en route. More privacy will come in due time. Because E2EE isn't implemented yet you'll have to entrust Fluxer with your data privacy in good faith. Considering how everything is evolving, the existing transparency and being open source with a heavy focus on privacy and federation, they have no interest in user data. Once they fully implement E2EE, they won't be able to see that data anyway. In short, only the the sender and recipient will be able to see the messages, screen sharing, video and voice chat, when E2EE is implemented.
Fluxer is also very refreshing when it comes to respecting the user experience. They point out Plutonium, but they don't beg their users to subscribe to it like some other platforms do. They offer a one time donation option or Plutonium and this is what makes the platform inviting. Pro-consumer, pro-privacy and pro-federation and no advertising to get you to buy things. The business isn't being built for corporate greed. It's being built for people like me and you.
Fluxer supports Linux (for now with an AppImage or web browser), MacOS, they're working on mobile apps already (can use it on mobile browsers at the moment which works fantastic) and lastly, Windows.
All in all, though Fluxer isn't yet feature complete, is still a work in progress and has some hiccups during the process at times, it's still a much more pleasant to use and appealing platform that has huge potential.
Do I recommend? Do I encourage you to support the project? Absolutely!
Faulty and a bad platform.
Not a good app, they marked my account for “suspicious activity” then tried making me sign in with a phone number so I did and it said “sudo mode required” and failed and wouldn’t work.
So yeah this app is a waste of time and doesn’t function properly.
