KLM tries to avoid paying compensation

My KLM flight from Copenhagen to Amsterdam on 4 January 2026 was cancelled. KLM’s IT system failed, so the operational situation was chaotic. KLM sent me an email “This situation is regarded as an extraordinary circumstance and therefore the compensation set by the EC Regulation 261/2004 does not apply”.
It was good to use Flyhjælp in this situation.

My experience with Flyhjælp has been…

My experience with Flyhjælp has been very disappointing.

The case handling time was long, and communication throughout the process was limited. In the end, Flyhjælp chose to close the case, citing a lack of documentation — including the fact that the airline would not provide a so-called Handling Report, which could have documented the delay.

It seems problematic that a case is closed due to missing documentation, especially when the airline itself holds that documentation. As a customer, you would expect a company like Flyhjælp to be better able to obtain relevant evidence or advise on alternative options.

Overall, the process leaves the impression of limited effectiveness and value compared to what is otherwise advertised.

I would therefore not recommend Flyhjælp to others.

We are sorry to hear that your experince with us has been disapponting.

After a thorough review of your case, we unfortunately had to conclude that the case would not have had a strong chance of being succesful in court. This is partly because these types of cases concerning denied boarding often are not easy to win. Especially when it cannot be documented that the passenger was actually denied boarding or was unable to make their connecting flight on time.

Evidence is often difficult for us to obtain directly from airline companies, as most are unwilling to cooperate since we are representing our customers’ interests in claiming compensation from the airlines.

We would also like to emphasise that the entire case process has been free of charge, even though the case had to be closed.

We are sorry that we were unable to assist in this case, but should you encounter any issues on a future flight, we are here to help.

Thanks for making things right

Thanks for making things right! No parents should be left alone in an airport for a whole day with a small child. Norwegian should be ashamed of how they handle our case.

Impressive work

Worked very well. I filed my case and Flyhjælp.dk took it all the way. Air India refused compensation, but then Flyhjælp took it to court and won the case and I got compensation. I would not have gone throught that myself.

Took many mails and correspondence to…

Took many mails and correspondence to get case solved. And with the payment of 120 euros as fee, I didn’t get much. I could have done all the work myself with the airline and saved the fee. We travelled as a group and some got money within 2 weeks and others 3 months.

Først og fremmest er vi kede af at høre, at du har oplevet at dit sagsforløb hos os ikke har været tilfredsstillende.

Grunden til at sagen trak ud skyldes, at vi i en længere periode måtte afvente svar fra flyselskabet på vores krav. Det første, vi gør i en sag som denne, er at sende kravet til flyselskabet, så vi kan få en officiel tilbagemelding hurtigst muligt.

Det er desværre ikke unormalt, at nogle flyselskaber ikke svarer hurtigt tilbage på visse krav, hvilket er noget der ligger uden for vores kontrol. Når vi ikke får svar fra flyselskabet, kan vi hverken komme videre i processen eller få afsluttet sagen, og det kan derfor trække sagsbehandlingen i langdrag.

Hvis flyselskabet havde afvist vores krav, ville sagen i stedet skulle føres i retten. I den situation vil det være billigere og mere hensigtsmæssigt at lade os håndtere sagen, fremfor at skulle stå for det selv og betale advokatomkostninger og andre retslige udgifter. Det er en del af vores arbejde at tage hånd om hele processen og sikre, at vores kunder får den kompensation, som de er berettiget til, uden at skulle stå med de ekstra omkostninger og besværet.

Great service and positive result

The company took my case about a 6 hour delayed flight ( CpH-Istanbul-Hanoi) in 2023. Yes, it took some time, but this week I got my compensation. I was constantly updated about the progress throughout the 2 years. Last week I got the good news they have won and the money were paid out to my account in 3 days. Recommend 100% !!

Extremely professional

Excellent job

Excellent job. The case looked like a lost cause because the airline refused any responsibility and delayed the process. It took a long time but in the end we got compensated thanks to Flyhjælp.

Fought hard and won

I had several horrible experiences with Lufthansa ("RyanAir of mainland Europe", it seems!) in 2024 (planes cancelled last minute and next to no customer service help).
Lufthansa had the gall to claim they were not liable and refused to pay compensation.

"Flyhjælp" took them to court and after almost a year, they won all claims on my behalf - money well spent!

Got result after a long time

It is good that Flyhjælp kept on going with the case even though it took a very long time. It was a case where the responsibility was not clear was it the booking company or the airline? A flight was just cancelled 3 weeks before departure without compensation. The flight was in 2023 and we got the money in 2025.

Flyhjælp

Flyhjælp have been very helpful when a Ryan Air flight was canceled. They had to take the case to court and won it on my behalf. Very satisfying for me and I Can recommend Flyhjælp.

Jeg anbefaler Flyhjælp til mine venner

After an unsuccessful attempt to get at least part of the price of a cancelled flight back, a friend recommended contacting Flyhjælp.
I was kept informed of the progress throughout the entire process. And to my great satisfaction, Flyhjælp completed the task and part of my money was refunded.
Now I also recommend Flyhjælp to my friends when they find themselves in a similar situation.
