Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 64 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of products, particularly meat items which were often reported as spoiled, discolored, or having an unpleasant odor, even when within their expiration dates. Reviewers also frequently encountered issues with customer service, citing unhelpful staff, long wait times, and difficulties resolving problems like incorrect orders or refunds. The overall sentiment suggests a decline in store standards and a lack of care for customer satisfaction. However, some customers did report positive interactions with specific employees, praising their professionalism, politeness, and helpfulness, which sometimes made their shopping experience more pleasant. A few people also noted that some stores were clean, well-organized, and offered good variety, particularly in fresh produce, and appreciated the convenience of their location.

Food Lion on Knox Abbot Drive Cayce South Carolina. Lines are forever long. Inexcusable. June 10th, 6:20 pm. Nobody attempting to speed things up in store.

Employees deliberately block aisles and won't move when you try to get productst now left the newark delaware store…

Just now left the newark delaware store off rt 4.. Want to get cat food.
Twice. Employee sitting on the cart was reloading the cat food, I could clearly see what I wanted. But she was blocking it.I walked up tried to get at it.She saw me and ignored me, I picked up a small box to put my product in, tried to get at it, couldnt, Threw down the box in disgust and walked away.Couldn't help but notice she watched me the entire time , a few mins later, tried again..still sitting, Finally said something to me.I told her that don't bother to move.I will just reach what I can reach instead of grabbing the product. That is clearly on the shelf and that I want to buy.. As I walked away. She didn't seem happy with my comment and had something rude to say to my back.I turned and thanked her for the rude comment.. 3 minutes later, I'm picking up gallons of milk.I turned to return it to my cart 3 feet away.I see their employee who sees me doing this.Deliberately cuts me up with a large cart full of product. He would have slammed into me and hurt me since i'm an old cripple.. I'm now really pissed off.. When I check out and find the bag when I reach home that the employee had put my eggs on the bottom and had broken half of them. That was the final straw.. I wish this place wasn't so convenient because I'm just gonna have to stop coming here. Not to ad that there was at least 5 products looked for and did't have. And this is also a continuing problem..

Pathetic employees at Berlin Store

This store, Berlin, MD has the worst employees. Extremely rude.
Last time I asked an employee where so.ething was and she said "I don't even know what that is" and walked away.
Today I went on.the side of the building because it was the only shade. A rude employee sitting on the bench said there was no parking there.as I was leaving the other rude employee was trying hard to make sure I saw her recording.
I have never seen.worse employees. That is bad, as fruitland walmart held the record, before.
Needless to say, you have lost a customer.

Rubbery Refried Beans?

We shop at Food Lion regularly. One item we buy, Food Lion "Traditional" refried beans has always been an excellent deal. Today we purchased a can and used it as part of dinner. I heat them with 2 tablespoons of butter and if they need thinning add a small amount of milk. These refried beans got rubbery and thick as they heated. Add a little more milk, they get a little thinner but thicken back up as they heat and get rubbery. They taste like flour or corn flour has been added and that is exactly how these starches would react if added.
Food Lion, are you cheating and adding flour to stretch the refried beans. Someone should investigate

High Prices / Poor Quality

Food Lion is convenient as it’s local.
There isn’t much left worth eating anymore.

The meat and produce are bland and taste a little old now and the dairy has low shelf life.

The fruit is sour, tart and sometimes firm or hard; rarely sweet.

The Food Lion checkout typically has only 1-2 open at a time; I don't do self checkout.

The prices are high and the quality of groceries is rather poor.

I used to shop at Food Lion and checko ed online coupons and progress. Now they have a "proof you are not a robot" that does NOT work to get into the site---they do NOT reply to email. Why should they care even if I am a robot--if I spend $$$ at their store. Hello Publix and Kroger--your sites are always welcoming to me and my robot.

Not always a pleasant shopping experience

I'm a very early shopper and I usually get to the stores between 8:00 and 9:00. If I shop later in the day I can find fresher items, but first thing in the morning everything looks terrible. Everybody's trying to stock shelves because they're empty and the produce looks terrible. I don't know why they can't stock at night to have everything fresh for all shoppers whether they shop mornings or afternoons or evenings. I don't know about other food Lions but this happens all the time at the Garner Food Lions.

Food lion used to be a good grocery…

Food lion used to be a good grocery store to shop at. Now they are the most expensive grocery store to shop at. For starters they and the best prices on beer and now their beer is double the price as Walmart Kroger and Dollar general market put together. They need to do something because this is ridiculous. We used to shop there because it was close to our house. But now we rater drive 15 minutes away from our house because of Food lion price gouging

Food Lion:unhappy staff and value drop

I notice the staff tries to deal with the stocking and quality issues customers bring to them, especially because I'm understanding to how difficult retail can be they get it when I ask questions, but it's like their hands are tied and they've given up most of the time. I've heard them say they "will try but it probably won't do any good" and similar wording. The quality has dropped like other stores I've been to. Prices inched up, packages shrank, items are constantly out of stock..like unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream. Many store brand items run out of stock and only the smallest organic size will be available in number so it makes me think...are they stocking the items that makes the highest profit and decreases customer selection because people need to buy staple items or are manufacturers switching what brands get better access to the raw product?..who knows the real answer it's just my observation and it's common to see this at many other locations I've been to in Hampton Roads and Southside Virginia. Happy staff and Value are getting harder to find.

Food Lion Store #0930Some Old People Sometimes Need Not Reenter the Workforce.

Food Lion Store #0930, 481 East Broad Ave., Rockingham, NC, (910)997-7468 has a terrible need for customer service training. My niece walked in today, 5/3/2024, to pick up a few items, and she was wearing her mask which her reasons are her business like the other folks and even some of the store employees who were also wearing masks. This old white female precedes to make this asinine statement, "I don't need to wear a mask, I just need to behave myself." And when a co-worker asked her,"Who?" The old bitty points directly at my niece. This was ignorant and uncalled for as there were plenty of other people wearing a mask. I assume the bat was jealous because my niece is young and firm while this old hag is not only not aging with dignity but with no grace whatsoever. I recognize ignorant behavior like this has to do more with the offender than their victim, but my niece nor any other customer is responsible for her low self-esteem or her inability to stay firm in certain places as she gets older. I don't know about you, but I don't go in and help pay folks' minimum wage paychecks to be insulted for just walking in. To me, though, this reflects poorly on the store's management and, obvious, lack of providing customer service training for their staff. If you are not happy working in a customer-service job, go sling them low hanging tits on the corner somewhere. I'm sure some desperate crackhead would give you a few dollars to use your dirty mouth for something better than talking trash about a paying customer minding their own business.

If I have to pay Harris Teeter prices

If I have to pay Harris Teeter prices, I’ll go to Harris Teeter. FL employees hate their jobs and block aisles constantly with no concern for the customers. Selection is decreasing on items I am accustomed and comfortable buying. Had a good run with Food Lion but it appears it’s over. So long…

The pick up service at the Columbia NC…

The pick up service at the Columbia NC store in the past has broken missing and thawed out items. Orders were given to the wrong customer and mgmt refused to refund money. The service will not shop for certain customers once they know who they are shopping for rude cashiers and a lack of stock.

Bacons Bridge Road Summerville SC

Bacons Bridge Road Summerville SC
Rude employees and will argue with you over a price. Lady in customer service complains out loud that she has to help people instead of talking to friends. Old cashier that works morning yelled at me and when I told her the price was wrong she said it is what it rings up and moaned that she had to call customer service which was more rude with food all in her mouth. This is the worst location and I will drive further next time to go to a Food Lion that is friendly and helpful.

It’s best to shop for your own groceries! Tired or not!

My husband and I love Foodlion, what we don’t love is Instacart the workers need more training on how to shop as in what to look for etc. I’m sure I’m not the only one who works everyday 40 hrs a week and just want to relax on the weekends or catch up on house work, no time to go grocery shopping so we “trust” online grocery shopping from time to time which is very convenient. Today, I ordered groceries online and had them delivered. After getting them in the house I noticed 2 of my meats that I use to season my food were no good. I had pork fatback and Hobe’s sliced ham hock first of all the vacuum sealed pack wasn’t sealed (as if there was a hole in it) and the sliced ham hock was molded. “Very visible” who gets groceries and not notice things like this? I was very disappointed because I felt like the shopper clearly didn’t care what he gave me, I’m almost positive he would not have taken this home to his family to cook and eat. These days not only do people not want to work- they don’t care either.

Labeling and Discrimination

At 18:48, 26 Apr 24 the cashier in register #1, Store #0420 located at 3808 Guess Rd Durham NC discriminated me and treated me like a thief. I had three items on my hands and ask for a lighter, she asked me to put the item at the registered, scanned the items, put in the plastic bag away from me and then left to get the lighter. After I paid, I stated I had to go back because I forgot to buy something and she said I must leave my shopping bag with her (after I have paid for it). It immediately triggered me and I said “Ma’am, if my intent was to steal something, I would put it in my bag (a tactical bag I had with me) and she said “I know you will” I asked for a manager, but no one responded (even knowing there was who appeared to be a supervisor witnessing everything). I told her she cannot be treating customers like that and calling them thieves, to which she replied I was the one calling myself a thief.
1. As a Latino, this is a clear sign of discrimination and targeting.
2. Food Lions does not have a policy which prohibits customers with entering the premises with bags; otherwise, people could not come in with purses, backpacks, tactical bags, etc
3. The premise does not have locker equipment to support (if any at the time) a no bag policy.
4. Employee action was a clear indication of targeting and labeling with no facts or evidence to support such action

As a Latino who served our nation for 20 years in the Army, I feel discriminated, humiliated and labeled as a thief

Nice store until you check out. Always something that rings up incorrectly. Front end staff is rude and always complaining to each other. When you ask for price correction you get a terrible attitude and I was literally told to go shop somewhere else by the office person waiting on me. Store Manager was present and said absolutely nothing to either staff or me. A simple ‘I’m sorry’ from management would have gone a long way.
