professional market manipulators

Motley Fool is just a mouthpiece for MFAM (motley fool asset management), which they use to help manipulate stocks in the direction they need them to go. They are long a stock? Here comes multiple positive articles from fool. They go short? Bad news after bad news, to fuel the narrative they need to make the most money.

With the loss of Chris Hill and Alison…

With the loss of Chris Hill and Alison Southwick things have been going downhill. Motley Fool Money & Motley Fool Answers were once great podcasts covering personal finance on the Answers front and current events and market conditions with the Money podcast. Since the lost of both the content and professionalism is a shadow of what is used to be. With the new hosts you can tell their political biases very easily which makes their content no longer objective, now the show is on life support full of ads and less substance. I was once a subscriber to MF, they had some truly terrible picks in the last few years which made that service lose its value but now their shows are also on the decline, such a shame

Absolutely sucks

Absolutely sucks. I used them back in 2021 and lost money on the vast majority of their recommendations. I sold most of my positions and salvaged what I could, but I've gone back and checked to see if I would have made money if I'd just held on longer and, ... no. Everyone of the stocks I sold for a loss would have lost even more if I'd have held onto it (e.g., SKLZ, LMND, FVRR, UPST,...)

I have followed the advice of motley fool now and again and their advice has been primarily poor. The worst advice I followed was to sell my rolls Royce shares approx 2 years ago.. just look at rolls Royce shares over the last 2 years… I would never follow their advice again…

Not what it said on the tin!

I signed up for a free investment article on 5 "super stocks" and received an email with no information about these stocks, instead asking me to pay £70 to gain access to their investment advice!

Charged $199 for renewal for something…

Revised: I complained about the issue below, and within 1 working day they have responded with a full refund. I still think these subscription models should remind you a few days ahead of auto-renewal so you can decide (in a world of countless subscriptions where tbh its easy to lose track...) but as a resolution for my issue I can't ask for more than what they have done. A pleasant surprise.
Original (1 star): Charged $199 for renewal for something I never use and thought I had cancelled 11months ago. Mistake but no reminder email? It’s a model that relies on you forgetting to cancel rather than the underlying product being of any use. One small, almost invisible step above theft.

Don’t be a fool!

Every turn they are asking for more money to give you better picks and service. The picks they provide are old news. I could have found that info anywhere without this site.

False misleading offers which require a paid subscription to get a “free offer”. Of course, they only tell you this after you provide them with your email address. Deceptive and dishonest company ….not an ethical approach to marketing.

My Experience with The Motley Fool

My Experience with The Motley Fool – A Warning to Others

I want to share my experience with The Motley Fool to warn others about their misleading marketing practices. As a non-U.S. citizen living in Jordan, I was targeted with persistent emails promoting their premium subscription service, promising insider tips and millionaire-level gains in the stock market.

I paid $13,000 USD for their “One” subscription, hoping to benefit from their advice. However, the service failed to deliver any valuable information, and following their recommendations actually caused me to lose over $100,000.

When I asked for a refund, my requests were completely ignored for years, despite multiple emails and attempts to communicate. Instead of refunding me, they only offered to extend my subscription, which I never asked for and is not a fair solution.

This situation has caused me serious financial and legal troubles, including a lawsuit from my bank and even jail time. I urge anyone considering their service to be very cautious and to think twice before subscribing.

The Motley Fool’s marketing is deceptive, their service is ineffective, and their customer support is non-existent. Please learn from my experience.

I knew nothing about investing...

I knew nothing about investing, and came across The Motley Fool website. I followed them for a few months and read some free articles.

I was offered a discount for the first year, which I took.

Even though I'm still a novice, Motley Fool has helped me gain some knowledge.

They go into real depth why they're recommending a company, and also lay out the risks.

I'll definitely be resubscribing at full price this year. 10/10!

Worst meal ever!

My name is Gail. We just came in to your Macclenny, Florida restaurant about 6:30 pm May 18, 2025:
We ordered the chicken tender basket with waffle fries. The chicken was so dry and cooked so hard I could not eat them!!
The waffle fries were cold and dry and were absolutely awful! They were out of honey mustard and sweet tea!! The biscuit was also very dry! We canned the entire meal!
The second order was a hamburger which was not thoroughly cooked! No lettuce and tomato as we requested, and also the sweet potato fries were also cold and hard!
This is the absolute worst meal ever!
A waste of $25.00!!! We will never return to this establishment!

They never list their losers and there are many! Admit to having a problem with the Left Wing wackos & Stock picks stink

You are a fool to waste your hard earned money on FOOL. FOOL markets itself as an know-it-all stock picking service for novice investors.

If you're a novice you should not be investing in individual stocks but in ETF's (Exchange Traded Funds) that are tied to certain indexes. The QQQ is the NASDQ top 100 stocks, VTHUR is the Russell 3000 stock index (top 3000 stocks), the world excluding USA stocks, etc., etc. ETF's fees are usually a lot less then mutual funds.

Playing individuals with under 5 years experience is not Kosher, Imprimatur or whatever. Investing a little in a few stocks here and there ok but your portfolio: no! no! FOOL is not that wonderful; at best it is below ok.
I've been investing since the mid 1980's and I still own a few ETF's (transferred out of mutual funds to ETF's when created in the 00's). Options I only started getting heavy into them about 20 years of investing behind me.

I have been investing for 40 years now. I tried FOOL last year as to get some ideas. Instead I got lame brain stock picks, left wing lunatics and an administration that knows problems with the lefties exist but don't do a thing about it.

The stocks they chose I should have bought put options or shorted their picks: most of them stink. Fool only hypes it winners but I can list dogs such as Disney which has done nothing in a decade, Square & Paypal they bought in at around $60 during COVID. The stock went up to $240 or so (I got out at $180, before I joined Fool) and they rode it on back down to $60 4 years later.

FOOL is one big marketing scam.

Their stock picks are terrible. I don't think I used one of their recommendations. In fact, I had the stocks for 100% to 200% gains then Fool comes in and recommends them a year or three after I had owned the stock. Why would I need them? I am doing a ten times better job with using other sites and my own ideas. I could see people losing a lot of money, not just a few bucks but 75%. They pick when they are at their highs and ride them down.

Their recommendations are the kaput. I don't know how many stocks they rode to the toilet. They have a new one again on Upstart. They recommended this stock when it was up in the $300's and now it around $50: that is a 83% loss or you would need a 600% gain to break even. Yes 600+%, that would be some pick! They are still promoting this: maybe if you get in now you'll make a few dollars but no other investment site is too keen on UPST.

FOOL just recommended Corning when it was at $51 not last year at $28. Corning historically never gone past $60 it is one of those that goes up and down over a few years but pays a dividend. They call Google a dividend stock. Okay it pays a 0.33% dividend but just to get 1 share of stock in a DRIP (dividend reinvestment program) you would have to have over 100 shares of stock ($16,750 approx.) 2 1/4 years to get that 1 share worth $167. To double it would take a century or two. AT&T, VZ several banks; they are dividend stocks (pay over 2.50%, not scraps).

In their comments they don't use an algorithm. If 3 people disagree they can make a b.s. reason to block your comment. I complained numerous times and they admitted they have a problem. Now if they cannot handle that what else can they not handle. You get bushwhacked by the liberals so if you are right of center or right don't bother.

Don't bother wasting your hard invested money. Use TipRanks which comes free with Interactive Brokers or at least use the free version. Use the free stuff out there, use your library card (I get Value Line & Tip Ranks) and most brokerages give you Morningstar and S&P for free. Take a class at a local community college, read books buy Barrons weekly and the WSJ or Financial Times of London, listen to FoxBusiness or Bloombergs (CNBC is tainted) but what ever you do run from this service.

They will make a fool out of you

This company is run by clowns, they keep recommending poor quality stocks, I have invested in their stock picks since 2020 and pretty much all their recommendations went to zero, some of their favourites picks were crappy stocks like, Fiverr, Pinterest, ASANA, Zoom, unity, looks at their charts now, motely fools recommended these stocks at their peak and now they are worthless piece of junk. Stay away from these scammers, if you are ever tempted to test their stock advisor, do yourself a favour and don't buy their stocks picks as soon as they are published, wait for a while to see how they will crash to the ground.
They also keep saying to hold the stocks for at least five years, worst mistake ever, i am back to square one five years later, lost 70% of my portfolio,

Do not believe money back guarantee

They state on the website you can get a refund. Though in fine print, the epic does not give a refund. Do not purchase this product. It is a waste of money and not helpful. Also, customer service was horrible. I tried to cancel in less than 7 days and they would not give me my money back. Bad program and bad service.

Monitor their stock picks closely

I had subscribed to Stock Advisor, then went on to Blast Force and Rising Stars in subsequent years. Their picks on BF and RS were highly speculative and I eventually lost money. Some of their picks ended up bankrupt eg TTCF or almost worthless eg CYBN GSHD OPEN PLUG PTON SKLZ TDOC UPST However I must admit I did not renew BF and RS after some time. Recently I revisited their website and noted that these subscriptions were no longer there.

I'll advise to stick to Stock Advisor if you wish to have peace of mind.

I got Fooled

I got Fooled! Made the mistake of believing the hype. First of all you can’t cancel or remove your credit card information by yourself. Once you sign up they continually fill your inbox with ways to pay THEM more money. I received nothing of value for my membership and since I cancelled there is no refund. Small price to pay to be rid of them! Investing has risk and trusting The Motley Fool is a sure thing to lose money! Luckily my loss was only my membership fee.
