Where do I begin
Where do I begin. For the landlords/renters are the scummiest letting agency I've known so far.
We moved into one of their property's and within a few months had issues with pressure dropping on the boiler. I informed them of this and then within 2 weeks I noticed water pooling out from under the stairs and into the living room.
I immediately turned off the water and emailed/rang them. They said they would be out promptly to fix this, as we had no water or central heating, in the middle of winter. It took them 3 days to come out and they found an unsoldered radiator feed pipe. They simply blanked this off for the time being, so we had no downstairs heating.
Being the good tenant I am, I kept my heating on 24/7 upstairs to try and dry out the ever damaging paint, carpet and skirting board. It then took them another 6 weeks before they came and took out a large portion of the wall (which was never put right) to fix the issue fully.
We then had issues with tiles falling off at the end of the bath, causing a leak from the bath and staining the kitchen ceiling. I immediately informed them again and being the good tenant I am, I bought silicone and sealed the end of the bath to stop this from happening. These issues were never fixed in the remaining year I was in the property.
At nearly 2 years of being in the house, I was sent a section 21 notice to evict. I asked them why?, as I had always paid rent on time, looked after the house and accepted their rent increase within the first 6 months of being in the property. They said the owner wants to sell -no problem, we understand.
When leaving the house, I posted the keys back through the letter box, like with most places. After 2 weeks, I rand them up and asked where's my deposit? They said, "oh we can't get into the house as you posted the keys, it was written in the section 21 notice that you had to leave the keys in the masterlock". Bearing in mind the masterlock is hidden in the back yard and I hadn't even looked at it since I moved in. Furthermore, I'm not gunna remember that it was written in the section 21 when emotions are high with the fresh knowledge we were being evicted.
They said "are you still in the area, you can try and get them out, otherwise you will have to pay for a locksmith". Why didn't they contact me in those 2 weeks, to tell me this? Why wait for me to contact them? -because they wanted more money out of me.
I fished the keys out of the letterbox and left them in the masterlock.
After not receiving my deposit for a month, I emailed them again. I got no response. So I decided to claim through the deposit protection scheme. Right at the last week of receiving my deposit back, they counter claimed, asking for about 450 of my deposit. They claimed I left the house unclean (I hired a professional cleaner), and also claimed all the water damage was my fault. It took about 5 months before I received half of my deposit back.
The house has now gone back up for rent, so why were we kicked out?
If you value your sanity and mental health, I strongly advise you stay well clear of this disgusting, money grabbing, nasty company.
Disgusting company that works for slum…
Disgusting company that works for slum lords. I've been having issues with them for the past 7 years. They refuse to repair my roof which is why the house keeps being sold on with me as a sitting tenant. The structural damage incurred is all from professional neglect and they have refused to do anything about it. Yet they are more than happy to take my rent!! Load of shysters. Do not rent with this company, you will be treated like utter trash even if you are a good tenant who always pays on time.
Amazing Service
I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Rima and her team. They were incredibly helpful, always communicative, and made the entire letting process super quick and smooth. Everyone in the office was patient, friendly, and efficient. I would definitely recommend them anytime!
Thank you very much Rima, Shaun and ForTheRenters
AVOID.
AVOID.
Finally got my deposit back after 3months.
The Adjudicator saw through their lies and I got my deposit back. They make up lies and fabricate quotes to try and claim all of your deposit. Without any evidence to back it up, they lost.
They also try and fine you for missed appointments, which is illegal under The Tennancy Feed ACT 2019.
They hold your deposit for over 40days without protecting it, again its illegal, must be protected within 30days.
Worst company ever. AVOID AVOID AVOID

I would give no stars if I could! Booked a viewing that was 2 weeks wait but no agent turned up...no call or anything! Someone else was waiting to view aswell with no communication of cancellation! Nothing! I think it was a lucky escape because if they behave like that before their getting your money what are they going to be like when your already paying rent and need something doing??! Disgraceful 🤬
A Deeply Disturbing Experience with…
A Deeply Disturbing Experience with Fortherenters
A Warning to Prospective Tenants
Over two weeks ago, I paid a security deposit for an apartment managed by [For The Renters], expecting a smooth and professional process that would allow me to move in without delay. Unfortunately, what I have experienced since then has been nothing short of frustrating, emotionally draining, and financially damaging.
From the moment I paid the deposit, I began following up to confirm my move-in date. I sent multiple emails—none of which received a reply. Each time I managed to get someone on the phone, I explained the urgency of my situation: my current tenancy was ending soon, and I needed clarity to avoid being stranded. Despite this, I was given vague reassurances and different move-in dates by different staff members, all of which turned out to be false.
One staff member in particular, who seemed to be the most frequently available on the phone, consistently responded with hostility, a lack of empathy, and no sense of responsibility. When I asked for a firm move-in date, she simply said the apartment required “deep cleaning” but could not tell me when it would be ready. No apology, no explanation, and certainly no accountability for the repeated delays.
As of now, 2weeks after paying security deposit and 1 week after completing the reference and landlord’s approval, No move in date has been given. I have been forced to stay in a hotel, paying out of pocket each day, while all of my belongings sit in a storage. I pleaded with the company to at least refund my security deposit so I could pursue another housing option, they declined. It has become painfully clear that they have no regard for the inconvenience, cost, or emotional stress they are causing. They simply do not even care about their reputation.
This entire experience has felt like dealing with a company that is disorganized at best and deliberately negligent at worst. I believe their conduct is harmful and potentially exploitative. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with them. If you’re looking for a safe, honest, and professional renting experience, Have a RETHINK.
Landlord Agency
As a landlord, I can say these people made me want to give up the game entirely.
•Terrible communication.
•Incompetent / negligent staff.
•No central contact person or account manager.
•Failed to tell me my tenant had moved out.
•Tried to charge extortionate fees for minor repairs, then when challenged simply put the costs onto the tenant, effectively stealing their deposit.
•Sent incomplete / incorrect documents.
•High fees and terrible service.
And again - they failed to tell me the contract was finished and the tenant had moved out. I contacted them after a month of no rent and was told they’d done a runner.
You CANNOT TRUST these people and if you’re a landlord you’ll end up losing money.
No one showed up at the viewing
No one showed up the viewing and from looking in the window it was a mess, absolutely nothing like the photos.
This organisation is close to a scam
This organisation is close to a scam. Hardly any protections for renters, got partway through applying when I realised how dangerous they can be. Am glad I avoided them
DO NOT USE FORTHELANDLORDS /…
DO NOT USE FORTHELANDLORDS / FORTHERENTERS. I am not one that writes reviews, and at the same time, I have taken the time to write this review in the hope that it will protect other landlords. FortheLandlords took over and bought out my local estate agent who were absolutely fantastic with managing my let property; was with them for year with no problems; lovely bunch. Forthelandlords are based in Nottinghamshire (nearly 80miles from my let property) and appear to have been buying sums of smaller agencies across the UK. To say that this company is incompetent and is extremely poor is a gross understatement. Countless emails I have sent to try to get an EPC certificate for my property which they initially advised had been done, and 4 months later I find out that this was not actually actioned despite already paying for this. When I eventually established communication I was passed from person to person with each person appearing to have no idea on the matter. This matter took the best part of half a year to resolve after months and months of back and forth communication. I then find out that this company got an electrician all the way from Nottinghamshire to action an EPC for a property nearly 80 miles away. Beware, this company uses their own tradespeople based in Nottinghamshire to do any repairs/maintenance to your rental property even if your property is 100 of miles away. Clearly there is some kind of gentleman's agreement going on there which does not sit right with me. Forthelandlords arranged work to do loft insulation for my rental property which I payed over £900 for. Now I have come to the property and observed the sheer poorness of the work done; insulation literally not even rolled out and just left there in the loft in piles. I am so angry. Please, if you are a landlord with this company needing any maintenance ASK FOR PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF THE WORK DONE because it is likely that they will use their own tradespeople friends based in Nottinghamshire to do the work, and the work may be extremely poor. I am now trying to take my property off the rental market and have been trying to contact this company for weeks and weeks to do get a tenant checkout done and obtain the spare keys in their possession to no avail! I am just so angry that this exploitative company exists and is buying out smaller agencies! It is clear that this company CANNOT MANAGE the increased workload that comes with buying out all the smaller agencies they are taking over. I do have some empathy for some of their staff because it appears to me that they are just simply burnt out and unable to manage the increased workload that comes with their expanding business. At the same time, it's us the landlords that are paying the price of this. I am now in process of making a formal complaint and making a Freedom of Information Request from the company. I am extremely disappointed and saddened with the experience I have had with this company.
what an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE LETTING…
what an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE LETTING AGENT, IT TOOK US 8 WEEKS TO GET OUR DEPOSIT BACK , THANKFULLY WE HADE IT IN A CUSTODIAL TDS SCHEME, and received it today, 4 days after there dispute dead line they sent me an email informing me blinds needed replacing lol , what they did NOT know is DAY OF LEAVING i had taken an in depth video of property and pointed out there was nothing wrong with blinds and sent hem a copy !
for 7 month we only had hot water for one hour a day as boiler needed repairing. my advice steer clear of FORTHELANDLORDS/FORTHERENTERS they are the same people in nottingham AND SATNAM PROPERTIES , Thankfully we now have a wonderful landlady who we deal with direct and did paper work through OPENRENT (HIGHLY RECOMENDED)
Viewing date getting moved for no reason
I am putting one star because i have been watching and waiting to view a flat and i finally get a viewing date after months of waiting for more to come available. They keep moving the viewing date not once but 3 times and the thrid time was to date i couldn't do so had to cancel and now waiting for more viewing date to become available. When trying to get hold them you get told to do everything online but all i want to is talk to someone and get some answers. Have now sent them email but they probably wont reply. And i look their review and most of them are bad. So i do not trust them. Unless they get back to me about why they keep moving my viewing date.
Do not use ForTheLandlord / ForTheRenter
I am a landlord and they have very poor communication. Invoice me for works that I haven't been informed about, agree to items with prospective tenants on items such as furniture and the garden which hasn't been run by me, the property owner. Their LL portal isn't kept up to date. Takes over a month to get a response on multiple occasions. Very high fee for a very poor service.
THIS IS A NIGHTMARE
THIS IS A NIGHTMARE
An agency full of lies and scam.. All the house amenities are in bad shape. Nothing is working here and they have refused to get it fixed. The building is in a whole mess. Faculty washing machine, blocked kitchen sink, the heating machine and many others. This is pure scam RUN as fast as your legs could carry you!!!!!
Absolutely an awful experience
Absolutely an awful experience. This is the worst and most terrible agency ever. First off, the facilities are in bad shape, obsolete and never maintained with promises every now and then to fix them but it's all a scam. The house is NOTHING like what they advertised. Blocked kitchen sink, non functional washing machine, bad and unresponsive management and managers, the house is just an absolute crap .A complete nightmare
Honestly, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. Not worth a penny, and dealing with the managers is nothing short of a nightmare. Save yourself the stress. Stay away from this dungeon
This is the worst letting agency ever
This is the worst letting agency ever!
Very dismissive and rude staff from head to toe!
Alot of repairs needs being done in the house but these people don't take anything seriously!
The radiator and heating is down but they actually don't care!
SCAMMERS!!!!!!
Truly, truly awful.
By far the worst agency I've ever had to deal with. All repairs done through an external website with awful navigation. My partner and I ended up waiting for 8 weeks with no hot water access as it seems neither the agency or landlord is local. Before we moved in we were not informed of other problems in the house, including a garage made of cracking asbestos that has since been unusable for the whole year we lived here. The "builders" that have come to fix the house before we moved in have done a poor job, but considering there's noone to locally check the property, it's no wonder. God forbid you ever have a genuine emergency in your house, if your radiator started pissing water you'd be buying a snorkel before you even received a text back. Absolutely appalling. Steer clear at all costs. Moving house literally to be rid of them.
Deceitful company and staff with no accountability
The worst company I have ever rented from. Firstly they failed to communicate with me that my move in date had been pushed back. They lied to me and pretended I could move in 'the next day' after they finally picked up the phone, only for this to be rebuked to a further weeks delay. THEN! On my move in date they failed to leave a front door key to the property!!!
It was a Friday and no-one was able to help me. Their maintenance team were rude. Their staff team within the office received my emails just before closing and then ignored my calls for help. There were several members of the team who were particularly rude and dismissed my compensation claims. To name them: Shaun (who ignored my call back requests despite stating you can book these on his email), Tom Perry and Melanie Murchie. Melanie pretended to do an investigation and they just dismissed my request for compensation due to their negligence. Surely a tenant needs a key to move into the property? They ignored the majority of my emails which outlined their lack of attention and basic manners and have taken minimal accountability for their wrong doings. Rude staff members, lack of accountability and awful attitudes
Unreliable and Fraudulent
This is one of the most fraudulent businesses I recently had the misfortune of dealing with. I paid a holding deposit for an apartment and did not receive any response from them for almost a week until I reached out myself. Since then, they have continuously provided excuses and have not given me the apartment as promised.
I emphasized the urgency of securing an apartment soon, as my contract in my current place is expiring. Despite this, no action has been taken. Their excuses range from issues with their website to making simple mistakes like inputting the wrong email address.
One of their employees, 'Name Redacted,' is particularly unreliable. Despite promises to follow up, no action is ever taken after our calls.
Please be cautious and avoid doing business with them.
We do not recommend this agency
We do not recommend this agency, for 5 weeks we have been waiting for them to solve problems that we found on the first day we moved into the current house. When you call the agency, they pass you from one colleague to another and no one does anything. No it is a serious agency.
