Pineapple and a broader fruity accord open things sweet and tropical, uncomplicated in a way that gives little indication of the darker turn to come. The heart gets considerably more complicated with vetiver, blackcurrant and rose, adding a green, slightly tart floral edge that starts pulling the composition away from its fruity start. Dark and textured, the base closes on leather, amber and dry wood, the most distinctive stretch of the entire development. Woody chypre is the fitting classification by the finish, though nothing about the opening would predict where this one ends up. Nardo Oud Cologne suits evening wear and cooler weather best, once that leather-amber base has had time to fully develop on skin. Fall and winter let the dry wood and leather carry the most presence, though the pineapple keeps some brightness available for warmer-weather wear too. The vetiver-blackcurrant pairing in the heart is doing the actual transitional work here, bridging a fruity top to a leather base more smoothly than jumping directly between the two would manage.
