Poetry rarely announces itself with no gentle introduction, but Lancome Poeme Perfume does exactly that, datura, narcissus, bergamot, Himalayan poppy and mandarin orange arriving rich and heady from the first moment. Mimosa, jasmine, vanilla and tuberose compose a centre of real density, sweet and narcotic, the tuberose refusing to sit politely behind anything. Cedar, musk, amber and tonka beans crown it in warm, powdery depth that lasts well into the next day. Subtlety was never the intention here. Best kept for daytime wear year round, Poeme Perfume from Lancome earns its place there as a floral oriental Eau de Parfum. It's the sort of scent Poeme Perfume was built to be.
