PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM FREEDOMPOP!
FreedomPop says I had a free plan that was automatically upgraded years later to a paid plan after they discontinued the free plan. They say I was sent emails to let me know this was happening. I never saw them; they probably went to my spam folder. My credit card was charged 3 times, totaling over $70. I never used the service and haven't even had the phone for many years. When I had the free plan it didn't work well at all. This is the biggest rip-off I have ever experienced. So MANY people are complaining about the same thing. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM FREEDOMPOP!
FreedomPop is a FRAUDULANT SCAM
I've never even heard of this company before, but today I checked my PayPal account (something I rarely do because I don't use it much), and noticed a $30.99 charge on the account. Upon further inspection I noticed this charge has been monthly for the past 26 months! NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT! So I called to find out what it is and why I'm being charged and all they tell me is that I have an active account for the past 26 months. When asked if the account has ever been used they tell me it has not, but that it was my email and my address used so it must be legitimate. NOT TRUE! I've never received anything from them in the mail, and even if I did I probably would have tossed it with the rest of the junk mail I get. They can see I've never used the account, but they refuse to believe that I didn't order it. Sounds to me like a salesperson just found an email address and physical address and placed an order to meet some quota. Complete and total SCAM. And they have the nerve to tell me the terms of service say no refunds...I NEVER AGREED TO ANY TERMS OF SERVICE because I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR THIS! Absolutely absurd and a complete FRAUD! If you ever see a charge from this "company" find a way to CANCEL IMMEDIATELY! They are dishonest as can be. What a crock!
FRAUD!
had free account... starting 6/2021, all the sudden they started charging all free accounts $4 a month and now $7 a month without authorization.
Freedompop is a bad joke
I purchase a data only plan for a Reolink camera. I had auto payments charged to my credit card. All worked well until I had to change my credit card number. There appears no way to update on their website. While waiting on CS to return my emails the payment period expired before I could make a change and my service was discontinued. When CS finally did get back to me, nothing they told me to do worked on the site. So I thought I would download the mobile app and try it that way. It never would recognize my email address to even establish an account. So long story short, you get what you pay for here. Crap with no backup. Try another supplier. Freedompop is a bad joke.
Deceitful
A few years ago, I signed up for a free mifi device with FreedomPop. I would be changed only for data used beyond some smallish nominal data that would be free of charge. I did use the device a few times, but found I didn't need it. Then, along came Covid. I left it in my office and worked from home. I suddenly noticed that they change the plan on me five months ago and have been charging me $4 a month for absolutely nothing. I missed the their e-mail telling me about the change. But why would they even start charging without some kind of acknowledgement that I wanted some service? Very deceitful practice.
Worst business practices
Please stay away from this company. This is a complete scam. If you want to opt-out make sure you have email or paper copy.Don't rely on their verbal communications otherwise you will pay the price. They keep changing their policy without proper notifications to the customers. Service is worst. Be super careful.
Complete scam, will attempt to steal your money
Complete scam. By their instructions, you have to call in to cancel, so they don't make it easy.
They 'upgraded' people from free to paid plan with an email notice (which will probably end up in your spam folder) so you will get charged without your permission. I see a class action lawsuit brewing.
Their service, when we used it, didn't work well. Poor connectivity, bad user experience, notifications weren't sent, etc.
Garbage
Garbage service when it was free. Garbage+ when it started monthly charge.
FreedomPop uses shady billing practices. Stay away!
Hadn't used them for over three years because they added charges I didn't approve. Out of the blue, they charged me 19.99. I never authorized any new charges. I'm sure they'll feed me some BS about auto enrolling me (because I used to have the free basic plan) into a new premium plan. Never got any messages about that. Ever. When I logged on, I'm even told my device has been inactive so long they've deactivated my account. Guess they're still willing to charge it. I've never had another company treat me like this.
everything has worked great
everything has worked great, good quality and speed. Easy install and continues to work ins all of the areas I frequent. It works well and you can't beat the price.
Your dormant account will get charged!
I used FreedomPop years ago. It was mediocre, at best. Previously, my last transaction was in 2019.
Suddenly, there's a $19.99 charge through PayPal. I contested it, and got a long response about new plans and being auto-enrolled... I have no record of the e-mails they claim to have sent me.
I feel utterly ripped off in that a totally dormant account gets targeted for "auto enrollment" and gets charged 20 bucks. How many people are they hitting with this scam?
I got charged overage
I got charged overage. I have my freedompop cards in cellular cameras. I was charged overages for minutes, texts, and data. I'm sorry but my camera doesn't make calls. But the real kicker is, I was charged overages two days after renewing my account and didn't even use the camera. The customer service rep Moraina is rude and in no way wanted me to remain a freedompop customer and canceled my account and refunded my overages charge!! Bub bye freedompop ✌ Going elsewhere
Big Scam
My husband registered to use their service but waited for weeks and never got his line to work then he transferred to a different network. 3 years later they have continued to take 1 cent from his credit card until this month they took $22.34. He called to ask why and they couldn't explain why he's been charged all this years even after he ported his number to a different network. Now they don't want to refund these charges claiming his account was active. My question is how can he's account be active when he transferred his number to a different network 🤔? All I can say it's a big SCAM!

Scam
Signed up many years ago for a *free* acct which never worked and I forgot about. Now I noticed they suddenly decided to start charging my credit card for the past 4 months for a service I have never used and which never worked. They know perfectly well that the acct is dead and buried and not being used. These people are crooks - stay away!

SCAM!!!!!
SCAM!!!!!
I got a few charges from Freedompop, $4.99 each, I had no idea who they even were so I contacted they customer service.. Apparently in 2017 (!!!) I got a SIM card from them and joined a free plan, and they now (4 years later, you're with me, yes?) decided to "automatically upgrade my account" and start charging me. I never used their service, I don't even know what that SIM card is honestly. The respresentative didn't agree to refund me because she claim they had sent me an email informing me that my account was "upgraded" and they will charge me starting June 2021 (I never received an email, needless to say). Finally she agreed to cancel my account - now let's hope no more surprise charges will appear from them. A true scam, do not get near this company.

cheap product. stay away
If possible, I would give a negative star. Worst phone plan ever. you have to update your credit every month, that is a trap. if you somehow miss it. they will charge you. when you want to close the account, you will not get back your unused money. So, stay away from this cheap product.

Loyal customer for years and it worked…
Loyal customer for years and it worked reasonably well for what was initially free and laterly still very good value on the gigabyte plan. Took my last payment 5th August then without warning or explanation cancelled my service on 6th August. Wayne in UK support refuses to explain just says he's deleted my information and here's your PAC code. I've never known such bad customer service. I will be complaining to the regulator. They are still selling the same service on their UK website so appear to be still in business. This appears to have affected many others judging by the community forum and reviews.
