WARNING: THIEVES! They lock your account and steal your balance!

DO NOT DEPOSIT A SINGLE CENT INTO FREEWALLET!

They are professional thieves. My account has been locked for months for a "verification" that never ends. Every time I provide exactly what they ask for, they come up with a new excuse to reject it.

The real scam: While my funds are locked and I am unable to make any transactions, they are STEALING my balance by charging "Inactivity Fees."

How can an account be "inactive" when YOU are the ones blocking me from using it?! This is a deliberate trap designed to drain user funds while hiding behind fake security procedures.

I invested in 2021 with Freewallet

I invested in 2021 with Freewallet. A few years later I wanted to buy giftcards and my acct was locked. I send all my id and requested documentation. Still they didn’t unlock my acct. a month ago I resent all my id and now they have a rule that you must set up 2FA. I put the code in maybe 50 times from google authenticator and Freewallet rejects all the codes. It is impossible to set up 2FA as they say it is mandatory now. They have failed to verify my acct with my endless documents as proof as to who I am. Then they reject the google authenticator codes. This wallet does not want me to take my money out. They want to keep my money for themselves.

Freewallet holding BNB on deprecated chain with no resolution for 3+ months

I had BNB tokens stored in Freewallet on the old BNB Beacon Chain (BEP2).
On October 9, 2025, Freewallet support confirmed that they no longer support BNB on the Beacon Chain and requested a destination address on a new supported network, which I provided immediately.

Since then, over three months have passed, and my funds are still stuck. I have repeatedly contacted support asking for updates and expected timeline. The latest response I received on January 8, 2026 states: “There is no exact frame for that purpose, please be patient.”

I have requested multiple times:
• a clear timeframe for migration,
• a transaction hash once the transfer is processed,
• or a written explanation why the transfer cannot be completed.

But to date, no timeline, no proof of transaction, no explanation has been provided. As Freewallet is a custodial wallet holding private keys, I expect timely handling of deprecated assets. This delay without transparency or accountability is unacceptable.

I’m posting this review to warn other users that Freewallet may not support asset migrations in a reasonable timeframe and does not provide clear updates.

Used Freewallet to send some USDC from…

Used Freewallet to send some USDC from one wallet to another.

I had sent $225 USDC on the base network to my Freewallet account. The funds never arrived because I was told it's supposed to be on the etherum network.

I reached out to customer service and was told the only way that can refund me is if the transaction was a minimum of $300 USDT. And pretty much I'm out of luck and lost $225 in the mystery space.

Total scam, never use them again!

Warning everyone: Freewallet is draining my account month after month

They started taking $50 from my balance every month as an “inactivity fee” even when there is activity. Month after month, $50 vanished. When I tried to recover the rest of my funds, they would not let me: they blocked my account and put me into an endless KYC process, always promising to unlock it once I finished.
That promise was never kept.
During this endless KYC they kept asking for more and more documents — many of them impossible to obtain — apparently just to delay the process further. When I finally managed to provide everything and finish the process, they stopped replying. My account remains blocked to this day. This has been a months-long ordeal.
They have kept, with no justification, four-figure sums of my crypto — money I worked hard to obtain. They continue to charge me $50 each month as “inactivity fees” even when there is activity, draining my balance to zero.
This is what awaits you if you use this wallet. Everyone, stay away. They will empty your account and you will have no way to stop it. Run from this service and warn others.

Freewallet is a Scam – They’ve Stolen My Money

I want to warn everyone about Freewallet. They have completely scammed me out of my funds. For years now, I’ve been trying to get my account verified. I followed every single instruction they gave me — I sent them my ID, selfies, proof of address, transaction history, and everything else they asked for. Despite that, they continue to block my account and refuse to release my money.

Every time I contact support, I either get the same automated responses or no real help at all. It has turned into an endless cycle of sending documents and waiting, but they never actually verify my account or allow me to withdraw.

It has been years of hassle, stress, and frustration, and they are still holding my money hostage. This company is dishonest and predatory. Once your funds are in Freewallet, good luck ever getting them back.

Please don’t make the same mistake I did — do not trust Freewallet with your money.

Unregulated, Unethical, and Unsafe – Stay Away from Freewallet

I opened a wallet with Freewallet.org in 2017. At that time, there was no such thing as “inactivity fees” in their Terms and Conditions. Years later, without my consent, they unilaterally changed the T&Cs and introduced a so-called “account maintenance / inactivity fee” — and then used it to drain my balance.

This is nothing short of theft. You cannot retroactively invent fees and then take people’s funds based on terms that didn’t exist when they signed up. No proper bank or regulated service would ever get away with this.

When confronted, they hide behind a meaningless distinction:

“Freewallet.org is custodial (we hold your coins) and Freewallet.io is non-custodial (we don’t hold your coins).”

This argument is irrelevant to the fact that Freewallet.org took my coins through policy changes after the fact. Whether custodial or not, the ethical and legal principle is the same: you don’t change the rules years later and steal customer assets.

Important warning:

Freewallet.org is not regulated by any major financial authority. The UK’s FCA and Malta’s MFSA have both issued official warnings that this company is not authorised to provide financial services.

If something goes wrong, you have no protection, no recourse.

Support is unhelpful, dismissive, and will not return your funds.

Verdict: Avoid Freewallet.org and Freewallet.io entirely. This is not a safe place for your crypto, and their history of unilateral rule changes and draining customer funds is unacceptable. If you value your coins, keep them in a regulated, non-custodial wallet you control.

SCAMMERS!!!

I wish someone had warned me. The moment I tried to withdraw, they locked my account and buried me in demands. They asked for everything, selfies with documents, certified translations, utility bills, proof of where my coins came from and just kept adding more. Even with my account locked, they kept charging monthly 'inactivity' fee like it was a joke. Stay far away, don't learn this lesson the hard way.

I am seeing growth and finally feel in control on FIFTH & heaven. They are transparent and process withdrawals all the time.

My Wallet is Frozen, No Access, and Funds Are Disappearing – No Support!

My Freewallet account has been frozen for yers. I submitted all required documents to verify my identity, but no response was received except for an automated message.

Even worse, my crypto assets are being deducted monthly without any authorization. Exchange and withdrawal features are disabled, and I cannot move or use my own funds.

I have over $3,700 in assets stuck in the wallet. This situation feels like fraud. If this is not resolved within 72 hours, I will continue my reports to crypto watchdog platforms and legal authorities.

Freewallet has stolen my money

Before my account was suspended, I was doing well with Freewallet. But when I deposited a large amount of money (63,000 USDT), they suspended my account. I have not been able to use my account for 6 months now. I have provided all the evidence they asked for to the security team. But they still have not activated my account. They keep making all kinds of excuses. AlthoughI received a message of KYC verification completion, they are still refusing to activate my account and give my money back to me. My ticket number is: 548505

Freewallet support acknowledges issue but ignores refund request

I have ETH stuck on the Optimism network within Freewallet. Their support team confirmed that my funds are held by them but have done nothing to resolve the situation or return my assets. Despite multiple requests, there has been no progress or clear communication. This lack of action and transparency is unacceptable. I urge Freewallet to address this issue promptly and refund my stuck funds.

Absolutely horrific

Absolutely horrific!

I had stalled just 50 POLS and it's gone because of so called "inactivity fees".

They will steal your money, and will use terms and conditions as a legal defence. No warning, no memo, no communication. They'll just take it.

Not your keys, not your crypto,.

The damage for me is luckily limited but to each and everyone who still has funds on there, take them away now before it's too late.

"Inactivity Fees"

Freewallet's conditions of use can change without you even receiving an e-mail. The most recent one: your wallet emptied by €50/month in the event of inactivity for 6 months. All without notice.

Conclusion: avoid at all costs.

Les conditions d’utilisation de Freewallet peuvent changer sans qu’il vous en soit fait mention par courriel. La dernière en date : votre portefeuille vidé de 50 € / mois en cas d’inactivité pendant 6 mois. Le tout sans préavis.

Conclusion : à fuir.

Locking out of account SCAM

I seem to have the same issue as everyone else. I have had this wallet open for around 8 years now, and they have paid out in the past, but recently they have locked my account for pending verification. I have sent all the relevant documents they have asked, but its been over 2 months now! When I ask the reason for the delay, the response is always "this may take some time". Whilst the delay is ongoing, they keep charging me inactive fees each month, which is mounting up to hundreds of pounds. I truly hope I can make an alteration to this review within the next week, to prove me wrong, but until then, I would definitely AVOID this wallet!

Scam wallet

It's all good until you need to withdraw money. They reply and ask for documents. Once you provide your documents, they go dark. They won't reply and keep on charging inactivity fees (50$) a month.
Just look other other review website on reddit, it's all over the place.
They will drain your account in no time and you can't do a thing about it. Do not deal with them unless you want to throw away your money.
