FreshDirect is over priced. Beyond the already inflated base prices, they tack on surprise fees exceeding ten dollars (as of 2026, those fees will continue to go up!), making their total cost significantly higher than competitors. Then they switched from recycling their delivery bags to not with no explanation.

The real dealbreaker is reliability. They consistently miss promised delivery windows. My most recent order arrived incomplete, with half of it showing up an hour late and the remainder arriving during dinner service, which was frankly embarrassing. When I contacted customer service requesting a refund for items I never received, they gave me the runaround. It all took an exhausting amount of time and the experience taught me they are not trustworthy. I won't be ordering from them again.

This company has a very aggressive and reckless truck driver (reg. no. AY72 UJA). Refused to merge in turn with another car and almost caused a collision at about 8.15am in Croxley Green. The driver needs education on UK road regulations.

It is really a great resource. Not perfect of course. It is an excelent resource. However, for great veggies like Heirloom Tomatoes, use your local Green Market. Fresh Direct does have an excellent wide variety of cheeses. I love is being able to get a Baby Watermelon vs. a giant watermelon or chunks. The setup is pretty easy and reliable. I do use Instacart for ordinary things like chips, sour cream, household stuff. Worth a shot to try Fresh Direct.
