The fees are higher than an index fund would be but I think of them like property management fees. Fundrise is a great way for non-accredited investors to get some passive real estate exposure. The... See more

About Fundrise

Written by the company

Fundrise offers access to sophisticated private market strategies focused on generating consistent income and long-term growth across real estate private equity, venture capital, and private credit.

Real estate — Fundrise is one of the 50 largest real estate private equity investors in the world by total annual deployment — deploying more than $1 billion of capital annually in 2021 and 2022. Our portfolio is largely composed of 20,000+ well-located residential units and eCommerce-centric industrial assets.

Venture — Investing in high-growth private technology companies has proven to be one of the best-performing strategies of the last 50 years. Our growth equity fund targets mid-to-late-stage companies in sectors like Modern Data Infrastructure, FinTech, and AI/ML.

Private credit — Skyrocketing interest rates have created broad credit market dislocations and a potential liquidity crisis. The result is arguably the most attractive, risk-adjusted private credit investing opportunity of the last few decades.

Building a better financial system
When our co-founders launched Fundrise back in 2012, our mission was to use technology to build a better financial system for investors like you. A lot has changed since then. Over 2 million people now use Fundrise and we manage nearly $3 billion in equity across real estate, private credit, and venture capital. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come. But our mission remains the same. It’s what drives us to continue eliminating barriers, developing new investments, and working tirelessly to make this the best investing experience you’ve ever had. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Great Opportunity

Fundrise delivered an opportunity for me to invest in future small private companies. A very easy to understand investment strategy platform. The recent opportunity to invest directly in the upcoming IPO (VCX) is exciting and the Innovation Fund is only one of many of my diverse positions. I’m really excited to see how VCX will perform.
IMO get in now!

The best value for your money

Found Fundrise initially through a book. Signed up, put a bunch of money in, and told my friends. Through appreciation of assets and referral programs I am up about 100% over the past 6 months. Dead serious, though I did have to refer quite a few people. Now my base is even larger and their innovation fund shows no signs of slowing down, especially with 3-4 of their major assets looking to IPO this year and their fund now being listed on the NYSE. Great things coming for Fundrise!

Easy to Use

Easy to use investing app that allows investing in markets not readily available elsewhere. So far good returns but never guaranteed as expected.

From the beginning

I originally invested when they were investing in upgrading properties in and around DC. Then the investing became so aggressive I could not evaluate the offering. About the same time FundRise elected to move to REIT format and I moved on. But recently I have come back and decided to participate in the IPO.

Do not invest your money with them

Do not invest your money with them, They will not give it back if you need it. Do not consider it liquid as they do everything in their power to not let you withdraw YOUR money.
I’m fighting them now to retrieve MY money as I just lost my company of 17 years and am going through a bankruptcy.
Again, steer clear of this investment platform!

Not a scam, just bad at RE investing.

Fundrise is a legitimate company, not a scam. But after 4 years of parking thousands of dollars with the company, my net return is -0.3%. So literally I would have been better putting cash in my mattress or leaving it in my 0% interest checking account. I did a comparison, and my returns with a traditional REIT would have been almost 26%. I'm dumbfounded that a company with such slick marketing and such lofty rhetoric could underperform so wildly. The worst part is that now that I've finally decided to close my account and redeem my cash, they estimate I'll lose another 10% in order to redeem. By the way, this redemption will happen in more than 90 days, and they're just going to keep my money until then. So my $5,000 investment will be more like $4,400 after 4.5 full years. I 1,000% would not recommend investing with them. Just put your money in a traditional REIT instead.

I asked to close and liquidate my fund…

I asked to close and liquidate my fund and they only returned half of my money, stating that that they were restructuring the accounts..the same excuse they gave for the delay giving me part of my funds in the first place. My funds were all in the same account.. so no excuse for not returning all of it. So now it's been 6 months, they are still giving the same excuse..they apparently believe that once they have my money it's theirs. They are blaming it on some agency that won't allow them to return it until the settlement date, which of course they will not share with me. My advice..DO NOT GIVE THEM A CENT.

Disappointed After 4 Years — Not Worth It Compared to S&P 500

I’m sharing my experience after 4 years with Fundrise. I invested $5,000 in October 2021, and as of October 2025, my account shows about a $200 loss. During the same time, the S&P 500 grew by more than 30%.

The withdrawal process is also not smooth — I requested a withdrawal a month ago, received $4,600, and still have about $300 left with no clear way to withdraw it.

Maybe I invested at the wrong time, but overall, it doesn’t feel worth it. In my opinion, investing directly in the S&P 500 index fund would have been a much better and simpler choice.
