Extortion and issues all around
Here are some issues that I encountered during my stay of five months:
- The walls of the bathrooms and kitchen were moldy. Parts of the kitchen walls were even falling apart.
- I had to pay €60 extra to pick up my keys on the first day, because it was a Sunday. One would think that you get the keys for free when you pay for a room. Well folks, not with ALTEA.
- In the first two weeks of my stay, there was no warm water in the building and heating didn't work.
- During my entire stay, there was no working freezer in the building with twelve rooms for rent. All attempts to solve this were ignored completely by the company. There was only one properly working refrigerator, but without freezer.
- All tenants had to pay for a cleaning service, even though there was no cleaning for two whole months of my stay. The money was never offered back to us. All of our attempts to communicate about a solution were ignored.
- For two whole months, there was no working washing machine in the building at all. ALTEA refused to replace the broken washing machines. The problem was only solved by chance, because the owner of the building got actively involved at some point and applied some pressure on ALTEA to solve the issues.
- Me and my fellow tenants tried to communicate and solve the issues with ALTEA, but all our attempts were always met first with resistance, then with lies. Countless times solutions were promised, but in the end ALTEA never did anything to solve any of the issues.
With all these issues, one would think: "Well, they were probably cheap, right?". Wrong. I paid €800 monthly for one room in a building with 11 other rooms. The agency fee was €609,25 and had to be payed in advance (that amounts to €121,85 monthly extra). The rental guarantee was €500. All things calculated, I paid €921,85 monthly for a place with endless issues, problems and frustrations, bad service with a company that ignores its tenants and, quite frankly, treats them like crap.
I stayed in one of the most developed countries in Europe, but, staying with ALTEA, I felt like I was living in a third world country. Folks, if you are looking for a pleasant stay, my advice is to avoid ALTEA and furnished.lu at all costs. If you can find anything else at all, I am fairly sure that it will be better than furnished.lu.
RUN AWAY! Illegal Rooms!
Altea, the company behind furnished.lu, is run by some of the most dishonest people I know. They think that they are above the laws. Many of the rooms they rent are totally illegal with regards to urbanistic regulations. They use the scarcity of affordable accomodations in Luxembourg and an online booking process that works reasonably well to trap people.

Worst agency ever
Worst service ever. Two hours before picking up my keys they sent me an email telling me the room I booked wasn't available offering me an option with 11 people. I had to go to the agency and we managed to find another suitable place for me. However, the distaster is still persisting as my radiator and wifi connection is not working and after more than a week of reporting thw situation no measures have been taken. Awful service, money really bad spent.

Second experience: the first night I got out from the room, I had to sleeo on the couch.
Not recommended at all.
Disappointing
The internet connection doesn't work.
The residence has only one fridge for 7 rooms where there is not enough space not even for 5.
The room was not cleaned when i moved in (there were trash from the previous tenant, the wardrobe smells bad).
No bathroom for the second floor so you have to move like 3 floors down to take a bath or whatever.

Not satisfied
First I got the wrong key for the entrance. The problem with that was that it was a holiday and I had no way of getting the new key. In addition to that I was traveling that day and was very exhausted. Even if that is considered human error, another problem is the general cleaning of the place. While my room is clean the whole other areas stink.
There is no-one available to answer…
There is no-one available to answer urgent phone calls, no matter how often I call and leave a message. My emails were not answered, either. When I received the reservation confirmation, it stated 51,850 Euros for the first month rent. Considering the prices they charge (yes, it is Luxembourg), this should not happen. I makes me wonder what other hindrances might occur. Also, I am not sure why they say all inclusive and then tag on a service package that changes with the length of stay. Does this mean additional charges, even if it says All In! ?
AVOID THEM AT ALL COST
Very bad service! The only thing they do properly is to charge you for everything - cupidity is what animate them:
- 800 € /month for a 12 m² bedroom, hardly lighted, noisy, poorly furnished, not even clean
- 60 € for key retrieving, 60 € for key returning - as if renting a bedroom didn't imply key hand over
- 175 € for early termination
- 1 month rent for the service pack (which I cannot really figure what it is about, since I haven't seen any kind of service from them - key retrieval is not even part of it !!!)
Avoid this company at all cost.
Since there is no way to rate 0-star, I had to put one but it is way beyong what they are worth.
