Never again

I try to avoid Gail’s as a rule, for their exorbitant prices, very average food and surly staff.

I just needed a place to sit and a snack, but I instantly regretted it. I spent well over £20 for a minuscule cake and coffee for myself and my friend. There are so many amazing independent coffee shops in London, with cheaper, better coffee - won’t be making that mistake again..

Severe Complaint Regarding Food Experience – GAIL’s Bakery, Brunswick Centre

Today, 6 October 2025, I had an extremely unpleasant and disastrous experience at GAIL’s Bakery, Brunswick Centre. Due to gastritis and severe stomach sensitivity (my stomach is very acidic and sensitive), even minor food triggers can cause severe nausea and vomiting.

Unfortunately, with the first bite of the Salmon and Avocado Yoghurt Roll, I immediately felt extreme nausea, my mouth tasted extremely unpleasant, like a “salt lake,” and I had to throw the sandwich directly into the trash. It felt as if someone had poured a whole bucket of salt over the sandwich. Even after an hour, I still have severe stomach pain. This was a completely disastrous and horrifying experience for me.

In my opinion, the chef at this branch should be immediately dismissed, as this level of carelessness and negligence in food preparation is completely unacceptable.

Given my medical condition, I expect preventive measures in food preparation and clear warnings about allergens and potentially irritating ingredients so that people with similar gastrointestinal issues do not have a similar experience.
