Booked in for safety recall several weeks in advance. So many messages telling me to not forget and be there. I did. They had the car all day, as they said they would. …not a problem.
Went to pick it up 8 hours later
They had not done it. They didn’t book someone in to come and do the recall repairs. Said sorry and gave me the keys.
A whole day wasted. (It’s a much longer story than that) but I won’t be going back. I have to go through the whole thing again somewhere else. No offer to re book. Nothjng. Just goodbye.
Just wrong and unprofessional on every level. Go somewhere else.

I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’ve been to Gates several times and always received an amazing service. James is an absolute ambassador for St Albans. He’s helped me several times now and I can’t fault him. He gives excellent customer service and knows his product.

First time using Gates for my MOT and I'm extremely happy! From beginning to end it has been a simple and smooth process. When dropping off my car I enquired if I could have a courtesy car as needed to urgently get some bits done today. Very helpful lady called Lou instead got my car straight in for it's MOT while I waited. Lou kept me updated throughout and even walked me back to my car when it was finished. The whole process was seamless and I got to enjoy a few complimentary hot drinks while I waited!
Huge thank you to Lou for all her help, and the guys behind the scenes for getting my car tested efficiently.

Ever since I purchased my puma from Cinch I have had a problem with my touch screen. Only half of it works which means you can’t use the navigation system. For over 4 months Ford and Cinch have been playing a game of ping pong. However the wonderful Yvette from Gates Waltham cross finally resolved the issue for us. She sent countless emails to Cinch and kept us informed of any updates. The car was finally repaired last Monday 3 March. All thanks to Yvette. She is a brilliant advertisement for the company: efficient, sympathetic and got the job done. Thank you

Recently had to put my car in Fords as it turned out it needed a new gear box. Being disabled I rely on my car. It took fords 6 weeks to repair the car. Shaun was always very sorry and phoned several times a week to up date me, but the excuses. Well we can't get on ramps as they too busy, no bodies got a gear box having to go to Germany to get one, sorry our tech has left, it's Monday morning techs not come in, we a small business, got gearbox but parts missing, Shaun had day off left instructions for car to be in work shop first, ignored, then at the last minute I need a flywheel but the best was we've broken a bolt and got to wait for one to be delivered. 6 weeks and £6600.00 later I get my car. What a complete shambles. In all my driving years and different dealers I've dealt with this is the worst. It took from 27th January to 6th March.

Had my B-Max serviced 2 weeks ago at Gates of Harlow.
Today I had to call out the AA as the engine was misfiring, the AA mechanic determined that one of the sparkplugs (that Gates had supposedly) replaced was the problem.
The AA took me and my car to Gates for them to rectify the issue as it had only been 2 weeks since the service was carried out.
I have had to leave my car with Gates to rectify the issue "when they get a chance" , possibly tomorrow or later.
And this is for what is probably a 30 minute job based on the AA's diagnostics.
Update (18th March):
The Trustpilot page says that Gates "Replied to 83% of negative reviews"
Well , yes they did reply to my review asking for my details, having provided my contact details I have never had any further contact from them, which makes it look like they only ask for details so as to "up" the "Replied to" rating.

Went in to check out their Chinese offering at this branch.
Dispite walking up and down to the front I was not approached by anyone yet overheard someone else being asked if they needed help.
Went inside where quite a few staff appeared to be dealing with the public and also walking back and forth past me but never any interaction with myself.
Not even the one woman sat near where building works was being done but not dealing with anyone, even bothered to ask if I needed assistance. I think another reviewer on Google maps (Zee) was absolutely right and would advise to stay clear of this branch if your of a slight hue in complexion.
Update:Notice there is a response from Gates to “discuss the review “. There is No need to discuss the review , the incident happened, they can check their cameras they no doubt have dotted all over their establishment. Kind regards

Excellent service provided by the sales executive, Imran Ahmed. The professional way he conducted himself and his approach to the different aspect of the sale process was second to none. I would definitely return in the future if I needed to change my car.

Dear Dealership management team
I am writing to share my disappointment regarding a recent experience at your dealership concerning a recall appointment.
I scheduled my car for the recall nearly a month in advance, with an appointment set for 11:00 AM. I was informed that the service would take about one hour. However, upon dropping off my keys, I was told that the service might take longer than expected—potentially up to 5:00 PM. This left me with no choice but to remain on-site, hoping the work would be completed sooner.
After waiting for nearly three hours, I noticed that my car had not even been moved from the parking lot. Unfortunately, due to a scheduled flight to Europe later that evening, I could not wait any longer. When I explained my situation to the customer service representative and mentioned that I had been told the service would take only an hour, his response was dismissive and impolite. He implied that I was lying, which I found both offensive and highly unprofessional.
If I had to wait three hours for nothing, then the 11:00 AM appointment was clearly meaningless. It felt as though my time was not valued—perhaps because this recall or warranty service does not directly generate revenue. In the past, I spent over £8,000 on a replacement engine for my previous car and utilized other paid services at your dealership, where I received polite and attentive treatment. This recent experience, however, highlights a disappointing contrast and reflects poorly on the overall customer service approach.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and work towards improving the customer experience across all services, not just the profitable ones.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I booked my Ford Ranger in for it's first service as a "sit & wait" appointment.
Both Dani & Evette have fantastic personalities and were very helpful throughout the process, which was seamless this morning.
With a comfortable seating area, coffee and wifi, I was able to work whilst the service was carried out.
I was very impressed with the whole experience.
Well done Ford !
Regards
Jason Scales

Myself and my family first met Harry at Ford Gates in Waltham Cross just to look at a vehicle we had seen on the website. It was raining heavily and should have gone at another time but Harry came out and was very professional. We discussed purchasing etc but sadly it didn't meet our budget. He helped us look at other vehicles that would meet our budget and eventually we found one. He was great throughout the process and always polite and understanding.
Great guy.

Tyler Wink was so good he made the entire process of buying a car easy and comfortable. There was no pressure and nothing was too much trouble to him. I would recommend Tyler and Gates of Woodford to anyone looking to purchase a car.

Came in to trade my car in and was greeted with a smile and was treated very well, Harry was professional and thorough with all the ins and outs which we were very pleased about. We're extremely happy with the car and we will definitely be regular customer when it's time to upgrade in the future.

Visited Gates at Waltham Cross on Tuesday 28th Jan 25 for a Full Service.
Amazing as Always, an absolute breeze from start to finish.
Booked appointment over the phone, instant confirmation sent to my phone with regular updates and a simple online hassle free check in which you can do 48hrs prior to your visit.
Regular updates and guidance of what to expect.
Gates have moved since collecting my new vehicle back in 2023 from Enfield to Waltham Cross and although it's just a couple of miles up the road, I decided to book the wait on site option rather than collect later in the day.
Greeted with a Lovely warm welcome on arrival, clean, warm and friendly waiting area with lots of free hot refreshments and very clean customer toilets.
I arrived for my 2pm appointment was Extremely well looked after and was heading home before 4pm, the staff onsite regularly ask if your OK, if you need anything and genuine care about their customers, if I could give 20 marks out of 10 I wouldn't hesitate to do so. Best Customer Service Ever, even sent me a personalised video of my vehicles health check.
Keep up the Great work guys !

I've been bringing my Ford Grand C-max for almost 10 years now for service and MOT at Ford Gates Stevenage. Last year, the timing belt and water pump was changed and I was advised to have the air conditioning checked / decontamination even though it's still working fine. I paid almost £2000 for all that jobs. This year I had the car serviced again and they found that the TCM gasket was leaking which cost around £500 to fix. I agreed to have it fixed. When I got my car at home and I was reviewing what was done, I realised that the leak could be cause by the changing of the timing belt. there's no leak all these years only after they changed the timing belt. And I could have not paid the price for it to be fixed.
The aircon on the other hand, I noticed last summer that it was not blowing cold air. I rang Gates to have it check and they say that there could be leak and I paid £149 for it to be service and tested for leak. It gives cool air for a few weeks only. I had it checked again this year and they found that the condenser was damaged and needs replacing (£828). could the condenser be damaged during the checking?
After the service, the following day someone rang me to asked about my experience with the service I received. I answer ok but the lady noticed that I'm not the happy with the service I receive. I told her what I think about what happened, that it could be a fault in the way the gasket was placed after the timing belt changed that's why there's a leak. She said she'll relay the message to the service manager / customer manager and they will contact me. But it's been a week and no one has contacted me.
I thought being with this dealer for almost 10 years, I would be treated as a valued customer. just a bit disappointed with the treatment I received.
