Trip cancellation insurance. Bought "Trip Cancellation" insurance from Generali for a trip to Madagascar in October 2025. Three days before the trip was to commence our tour group leader cancelled the trip due to unrest and an eventual government coup. Twenty three people were killed with violent protests daily. Two days after learning the trip was cancelled I filed a claim with Generali to recover trip costs. Generali promptly declined the claim saying the reason for cancellation was not covered under the policy guidelines. Our tour operator cancelled the trip with their clients best interest in mind. This was an unforeseen, and uncontrollable event completely out of our control. Nonetheless Generali would not honor the claim. They do not have their clients best interests in mind.

I have insured my car with Generali since moving to France eleven years ago. I have always received prompt and polite service and am extremely pleased with both the company and with my contact person. She speaks excellent English and that is also very positive.

I filed a claim and have had no response. Very unprofessional. You pay for travel insurance and then get ghosted.

I wish I looked at these reviews before signing up with them. They are the worst. Responsiveness is horrendous and I’m being kind as there are no responses. They are appalling and looking for ways not to reimburse you for claims. Run away from them as fast as possible.

Their inactivity, lack of response and unwillingness to pay us back in time literally cost us thousands of dollars.
