I am extremely disappointed with my experience with this insurance company.
Before a scheduled surgery, I contacted the company by phone to confirm coverage details. I was clearly and explicitly informed by their representative that the procedure was fully covered, with no financial charge required before or after the operation, and that no pre-approval or additional documentation was necessary.
Relying on this information, I proceeded accordingly. However, months later, I was unexpectedly informed that significant charges were not covered, directly contradicting the assurances I had received.
I immediately submitted a formal complaint and requested the call recording as proof of the original information provided to me. To this day, I have received no clear response, no written explanation, and no communication from a responsible representative. Each follow-up is met with vague statements that the issue is “under review,” with no timeline or accountability.
As a long-term customer who had never previously used the policy benefits, this experience has been deeply frustrating and has seriously undermined my trust in the company’s transparency and reliability.
I would strongly advise others to be extremely cautious and to request all coverage confirmations in writing before proceeding with any medical treatment.
The company refused to cover my hospitalisation for testicular cancer, claiming that the condition was… congenital. To support this, they cited a paediatric informational pamphlet from a children’s hospital website (!) and drew arbitrary conclusions without providing a single medical opinion of their own.
In contrast, two professors of urology from Greek universities have officially confirmed that this is an acquired malignancy in an adult, with no congenital basis whatsoever. They back this with international guidelines, scientific classifications, and official sources — all of which show that Generali has misused terminology, misinterpreted definitions, and relied on non-scientific “literature.”
I wasn’t asking for a favor — just for the coverage my policy guarantees. My advice? Stay away!
This company are beyond a joke.
Do not give them your business.
I underwent cancer treatment 4 months ago. Despite them receiving all of the necessary documentation in February they have still not paid me even €1.
I have spent hours on the phone to them, as have my agent, but they have still not even had the manners to contact me.
Avoid.. go elsewhere for your insurance.
