SCAM COMPANY

SCAM COMPANY. AVOID.

I purchased a hoover. This has been an on going case for a refund for OVER a year now.

The hoover was faulty. Booked refund and collection. Said collection never happened. Fast forward to requesting again. Finally they collected. It’s now been months of promise of my refund to no avail. They received the hoover back. Yodel tracking confirms it. But no refund. They send case after case to the “senior team” for “manual refund”. Nothing ever gets done.

The Indian call centre sounds like it’s in someone’s back yard whilst a festival is playing.

What a disgraceful company Asda has become in the name of penny punching. Avoid like the plague. Won’t be using them anymore.

Rubbish

Have to give one to write a review. I ordered from asda, they took my money as the bank confirmed this. But no goods and it appears no order taken! Phoned customer service, well, what can I say, so unhelpful. Told to contact bank and get them to sort it. Won't be using them again. 0 stars from me .

After having a bad experience last year…

After having a bad experience last year with a George orders I decided to risk it again as the offer was good. However, once again the order did not arrive in store on the day stated. Rang them when it still hadn't turned up another 4 days later, to be told they will let me know in up to 48 hours what has happened ! Asked for refund and will definitely not be ordering from them again

Made an order to be delivered in 5…

Made an order to be delivered in 5 working days. It didn't arrive so I called after 10 working days, they said they had issues a home delivery for 3 days instead, still didn't arrive. Chased up again and they said they'll reimburse in 3-5 days but the postage just as an e-voucher. No genuine act of goodwill considering the inconvenience.

I stopped shopping with george due to the ridiculous service you get from ordering online I gave them another chance as my kids needed some new school bits, definitely the last time I ordered 17 items all split into 4 separate delivery's, FOUR!! I then got a text today saying my item has been damaged/lost i had to ring to find out what wasn't getting delivered as nothing was telling me 13 items missing/damaged (more likely stolen) several now out of stock so I couldnt re order, the service has been diabolical for years, I asked if they're going to investigate as to why so many items was missing/damaged simple answer no! How this company is still going is beyond me

Deserves a zero for Customer Service - avoid, avoid, avoid

Ordered a shed from George.com but when it arrived the cardboard box would have been more sturdy than the shed itself.
Contacted the misnamed Customer Service phone number to arrange a return but has taken 4 calls so far. Agent 1 said they'd booked a collection but hadn't and so had to call back. Agent 2 blamed 'system errors' and said they'd rebooked collection - but didn't. Agent 3 said I hadn't phoned before and booked a collection only to send an email an hour later saying collection had been cancelled. Phoned back for 4th time and agent didn't have a clue. Passed to a manager who spent 20 mins firstly claiming no email had been sent and then claimed she was the Customer Service Director. Have been promised a call back but not holding my breath.
Avoid this company like the plague- as many people detail in their reviews, quick to take money but then impossible to get returns/refund sorted.

**Update**
So three days later and the promised call back from a manager within 24 hours hasn't happened. Called back today to be told by a call agent that my bank had told them not to refund me! Now issued notice of court action to Liz Evans, Managing Director of George at Asda for recovery of money,

1 star because I can't give zero

1 star because I can't give zero. Received a broken parasol in an EXTREMELY damaged box. It was clearly someone's return. They didn't even bother checking it before sending it out. Won't shop with them again, I can't trust them.

Banging your head on a brick wall is infinitely more pleasurable

On 17th April, a LENGTHY, and somewhat scathing review I wrote for George at Asda, was published in its unedited entirety. IT NEVER RECEIVED AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, LET ALONE A REPLY!

Last week, after receiving my THIRD order (#164707140) of DAMAGED storage trunks, I wrote another review. It was short, but not sweet.

I thought customers could leave HONEST reviews here, WITHOUT censorship. Apparently not!

Following my original post, the complaint could have been investigated. Instead, it was conveniently ignored and now their sensibilities are OFFENDED when I have the audacity of telling the truth!

This is the level of professionalism, contempt, and interest that George at Asda show their customers. Even more telling, is the fact their reply is sent from a ‘No Reply’ email address. How bloody convenient!
_______________________________________________________________

(1) MY POST

Don't bother

I ordered 4 of these storage trunks (2 clear & 2 black) and they were ALL damaged. I returned them instore and ordered 4 more. THREE out of the four arrived damaged so I returned these too. I ordered THREE replacements, but ALL of these arrived damaged too so am about to return them.

You couldn't make this up and it is UNACCEPTABLE. These items should be checked BEFORE leaving your warehouse and need to be packaged better not just a bit of bubble wrap and a plastic bag over the top, which is clearly inadequate.

My advice...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, ENERGY, OR MONEY BECAUSE CLEARLY GEORGE DO NOT GIVE A HOOT

_______________________________________________________________

Well George, here is my response to your reply:

* Focus on the product: I DID. My first paragraph concentrates ENTIRELY on the product and its DAMAGED arrival…for the THIRD TIME!
* Share any tips and advice about the product you would have found useful: I DID, I told others not to bother! Here’s a tip for you George: STOP SENDING DAMAGED GOODS TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! WRAP BREAKABLE ITEMS BETTER.
* Be specific. What’s great about it? What’s not so great?: What on earth is GREAT about the arrival of DAMAGED products that I cannot use? I would have thought stating the product had arrived DAMAGED, more than adequately described your “What’s not so great” category, or am I missing something?

You go on to say I should AVOID:
* Customer Service Issues, before supplying me with a link to Customer Services! I DID contact them and they DID NOT BOTHER TO REPLY OR RESOLVE THE ISSUE! I posed the question, “What does immediate attention mean” to Mr Collins, the dictionary, and here was his response: the definition of immediate is something that is done WITHOUT DELAY; the definition of attention is looking at, listening to, or thinking about something carefully. I am sure that we can all agree you failed on both counts so please don’t patronise me.
* Refrain from mentioning competitors or specifics: I DID NOT
* Do not include any personal details: I DID NOT

You end the email by stating that ANY information regarding customer service means my review won’t be published.

What the hell else is a customer supposed to do when the very department YOU have created to resolve these issues, DOES NOT DO THEIR JOB?

THIS is the EXACT reason why ALL companies should NOT use BOTS to answer customer complaints!

I've ordered clothes from George/Asda…

I've ordered clothes from George/Asda many times before with no issues. Until my most recent order. I paid for home delivery this time and was given an estimated date for delivery. Basically my order didn't even get to the courier, so they can't blame them. I had an apology email after my delivery date for my order not being ready yet and I'd be updated soon. Nothing since. I've had to claim my money back through PayPal as I can't afford to let them keep my money and not receive the goods. I've shopped elsewhere since. I know there's plenty of other negative reviews on here but I'd never had a problem until now. Such a shame that I'll be avoiding ordering again.

The sizing of Asda clothes

The sizing of Asda clothes at the moment is frustratingly bad. Changing room rarely open for you to try before you buy but when you actually get them home the sizes are all over the place and 99% of the time need returned. Size 8 can be too big size 12 too small and I'm a size 10. Gone are the days when I could go into Asda and just pick up a size 10 and I used to buy a lot of stuff there. Please get it sorted it's getting ridiculous and as a result I rarely buy anything from George now.

George / Asda took my money, cancelled my order, promised me a refund then claimed they never got my payment. Despite me having proof.

I ordered over £200 worth of bedding and soft furnishings and paid for a named delivery date. Date came and went: no delivery, no email updates. I then found an email sent minutes after I had placed the order that at first glance looked like a receipt or confirmation email. Only right at the bottom in tiny writing did it say that my entire order had been cancelled - no reason given - and I would receive a refund in 5 working days.

5 working days later: no refund. I called Asda’s helpline and they told me that the order was cancelled because they never received the payment. They told me the payment must still be pending (it is not) and that I must raise a dispute with my bank. I emailed them screenshots of my online bank statement showing that the payment had gone through and wasn’t still pending. I emailed them the email I received from them which admitted that THEY had cancelled the order minutes after I placed it and had assured me a full refund. The person on the phone refused to budge but said she’d escalate the matter.

I then rang my bank and luckily they were extremely good, looked into it and said the payment was being held at the merchant end and was pending at THEIR end, meaning that it was up to them to release it back to my bank and they just hadn’t. He told me it would likely expire eventually but as it had already been a week he forced the expiration from his end and I got my money back instantly. I asked him some follow up questions and he kindly confirmed that the payment had definitely gone through from my end and was being held at George / Asda’s end.

So basically they were sitting on my money but were claiming they never got it. Which was obviously completely untrue.

I can’t believe an established company can just act like this. But I’ve seen all the other 1 star reviews here now so obviously treating customers badly has become the norm for them.

I have ordered online from George so many times. But I never will again now.

While I’m here, I will add to the chorus of voices already saying it: don’t bother paying extra for next day delivery. I have done it in the past and the order has still turned up whenever it likes, usually two or three days later. I’ve always found that named day deliveries that are at least 2 days ahead have been fine though.

Do not but George hair dryers

Do not but George hair dryers. I bought two now, and both gave up after a few months. I tried to get a refund, but Asda Lancaster are not any help at all. It really does say it all, buy cheap but twice. My next hairdryer, will be a reputable brand.

Manufacturers have no clue

I purchased a pair of pyjamas size large. The trousers fitted perfectly but the top was very tight. I exchanged them for XL. The top fitted perfectly but I didn't realise that I had to grow 4 inches for the trousers to fit.

Very poor service

I ordered a pair of trousers on line but didn't realise until too late that I had accidentally ordered two pairs instead of one. It was not possible to cancel the order or to amend it although I realised the mistake within a minute or two. I then placed an order for one pair of the same trousers in a size down. When both orders arrived I disliked the items - they didn't fit, were an unflattering cut and the material creased very easily. So I returned them to my nearest Asda in the original wrapping, ie the smaller pair in one parcel and the two larger pairs in another. Only one pair out of the two in the second parcel has been refunded - I am being told there was no second pair in there. Absolutely untrue and complete nonsense - if retuning one pair as unsatisfactory why would I want to keep the second identical pair? Perhaps an honest clerical error? Two emails regarding this issue have gone unanswered.

Asda garden furniture

We purchased 2 garden chairs just under 3 years ago costing around £300, they are still perfect on the top but the legs have completely rotted through in that short space of time, they were designed & built to live outside but really not fit for purpose, we have an older chair that has lived outside for 15 plus years & it's still solid, when we asked Asda they basically are not interested as once it's past a year old it's no longer replaceable, they just offered us a £10 voucher & said sorry.
So the lesson is don't buy garden furniture from George at Asda expecting it to last very long at all because the likelihood is that it won't & Asda as a company just don't care once it's over a year old anyway.

Oh dear

Oh dear, no wonder ASDA are making redundancies in Head Office. I cannot believe the experience I have had with GEORGE on line at ASDA, at a time when I need less stress. Ordered, post-surgery bras as recommended to go to GEORGE. Ordered online as no store close to rural spot. Didn't suit, so had a while to wait to return to nearest store. Advised refund, but only for half the returns. Phoned CS, which is an 0330 number not covered by all mobile accounts; no empathy when I queried why no full refund and due in hospital. Said they do it in two transactions. If customer places one order, one return, same item, why two transcations, I didn't pay the order in that way. This is worrying for a major retailer. I should have read the reviews here with one waiting for £200. I don't expect to get my full refund anytime soon and what about the cost of postage! Given these items are specialist, post-surgery bras, come on where is your compassion and humanity?

Do not order next day it won't turn up!!!

Wish I read the reviews here before ordering! Paid for next day delivery on Friday to be told it won't be delivered until Monday... Phoned customer service on 0330 053 0111, selected option 2 and complained. They said they would refund my delivery money within 3-5 working days... God knows why it takes that long they are quick to take your money and not deliver 🙄 hopefully it actually turns up on Monday! Companies like this should not be able to offer these services if they can't deliver
