Shockingly poor quality. Velvet trousers basically went bald within 3 months. They won’t refund, replace or repair because it’s external wear. Not what you expect from a £300 pair of trousers. De... See more

The negative reviews on here seem to be mostly about returns, but I can't speak to that. I will say that I had an incredibly good experience ordering from the Gerard Darel site for delivery to the UK.... See more

I wish I had seen these reviews before placing an order with Gerard Darel that could not be fulfilled as the item turned out to be out of stock. It is almost 4 weeks now since that order was placed and Gerard Darel did not even bother to advise that the item was now unavailable until I chased them. Now, in spite of a number of emails, they have still not refunded my money and have not bothered reply to my latest email.
I feel somewhat helpless as their customer service is in France so I wonder if I shall ever get my money back.
I would warn anyone thinking about buying from them on line in the UK to think very carefully before doing so. I shall not buy from the again,
I have just read some of the UK reviews and have to say my in store Paris experience ( BLD St Germaine) was similarly bad. Everything about this shopping and attempted return one day later was negative. The store staff there need retraining. That said, went to their St Sèvres store 1k away and got great service, truthful advice and genuine interest. Got to the St Sèvres store
I have just received a maxi skirt from this brand which I bought for £75 in the sale via John Lewis website, originally an eye watering £175. I was expecting great quality for that price and what I received was a very cheaply made, label hanging off and made of crappy fabric. I mean I would have been pleased if it was £30 from Shein/ASOS but this Ted Baker/Reiss pricing is totally off the mark. I would not buy from here and expect any sort of quality. Outrageously over priced. I can’t imagine John Lewis will be stocking their stuff for long x
I bought online a jacket which is too small, it seems I have to arrange return myself back to France, not clear at all about return on their website, I went around for ages, filled in a form online and told aI would get a confirmation email as soon as possible but it never arrived, the form It advised it would send for a return, nothing in my junk email. I contacted customer service and they tell me to post it back. I hope they have to pay customs on it as this is impossible. I will not order from them again.
This is my first time writing a negative review and it is following an on line purchase of a Gerard Darel dress from alsongallery, I ordered the dress 16 days ago, the payment went through 14 days ago and confirmed and since then not a word, I have emailed the company 4 times, a sister company once and not a single response, no communication to say that the dress was on route, in fact no response at all. I ordered a Zara skirt the same day and got it 5 days later with lots of updates in between, nothing else to say except this is the worst online ordering experience I have ever had, I wish they were as good as customer service as they are at taking your money!
I ordered a Red handbag and got a scratched creamy orange thing. Then they asked me to pay for mailing it back. These people are to be avoided...
Be aware that if you purchase on line from Gerard Darrel, unlike any other online store, they do not include return note with their package or any clear instructions on how to return. This should be made clear at the time of purchasing on line. it’s impossible to return without making arrangements for your self which looks like it can be expensive. I contacted them by their contact site but have had an email back saying they are experiencing difficulties! I will probably have to give up!
What a very disappointing Experience . I bought the famous Jackie Kennedy necklace online and once I received it (much later then promised) it looked like a secondhand necklace really ! The necklace was damaged and also the gift box was damaged and this did not happen during the transport it was already discoloured , cracked and tapped together before shipping . Really unprofessional you do not expect such poor condition for a brand as Gerard Darel you do not expect such poor quality of Gerard Darel . How can this serve as a gift ? Really disappointing. Do not buy anything from them anymore .
I would score zero if I could. This company should not be trading in the UK. Following on from my previous post I sent the mac back via Parcelforce which cost £41. Customer services didn't get back to me for a month so in the meantime I had sent the coat to the address on their website as if I hadn't done I would have been outside the returns period. When they eventually came back to me I was told it was the wrong address and there was nothing further they could do for me. It was the registered address for the company which I got from their OWN WEBSITE. I tracked the parcel and apparently they refused to accept it and it is on its way back to the UK but because of the French postal system I have been advised it may take up to 90 days. If I want a refund I'll then have to spend another 40 quid sending it back again. I have never experienced such appalling customer service. Shameful. Avoid this company at all costs!
Agree with all other reviews which I wished I had looked at first, Charged me £1149 for a coat priced at 1149 euros, big difference. Also leather not good, tried to remove a stain, awful cheap leather. Customer Service disgusting, to send back when I first got it - too big - would cost me, and when pointed out about price differences just sent French/English email saying the was price. Avoid the company at all costs.
I bought a couple of coats in the sale and had to return one. I didn't know they have no operations in the UK and you have to deal with French customer service. Managed to return the coat at a hefty price as it was going back to France, something they do not make clear on their website. On top of that I received a bill from the carrier company asking me to pay customs duty Euros 30 so the return cost me almost half the value of the coat. When I tried to contact customer service they replied with a pre-written text in French explaining what to do for returns but not answering my complaint saying they should pay for customs duty. Avoid at all cost!!!!!
Absolutely ridiculous trading standards. Can’t find a way to return an online purchase. The London shop won’t help and the only customer service number is in France and permanently on answering machine. The email I sent received a reply redirecting me to the returns page which didn’t work in the first place. Woeful. I am surprised they are allowed to trade in the UK on that basis.
Absolutely appalling customer service. It is virtually impossible to make a return. I have made at least five international calls and still achieved nothing. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
I too wish I had read all the negative reviews
Avoid this company if you can
I ordered and paid for expensive coat ,money taken out of my account only for GerardDarel to cancel same immediately. No explanation no apology, only assurance that £267 refunded. Three weeks waiting, not a dicky bird! Do these people have a customer service dept? Don’t think so Do they care about customers and the distress they inflict I doubt
I will echo what everyone else has written.
I bought a very expensive coat and the customer service and return process is exceptionally bad.
1) There is no return label inside the package.
2) Customer pays for return shipment.
3) It is unclear if you can simply return your item with the delivery note, or if you need to fill out a return form online. My GD account hasn't been working for 3 days so I cannot fill out a return form.
4) Their phone customer service doesn't have an English option.
5) I have been calling their customer service several times a day for 3 days and cannot get a hold of anyone.
Absolutely terrible terrible customer service. I will never purchase from GD online again. NEVER.

Wish I had seen these reviews before I ordered from the eshop.
Since Gerard Darel is a reputable, fairly expensive brand, you would assume that the service would be acceptable. If everything goes as planned, it's fine. But if things go wrong, it's terrible.
They sent me the wrong item and after an initial email, it's been radio silence for over a week now. They send orders internationally, but the options on the customer service phone number they provide are all in French and when I chose an option, no one answered anyway.
Very frustrating! If you're UK based, I would recommend ordering their clothing from John Lewis.
I ordered a cashmere jumper to be delivered to Spain and paid for it by Paypal. They cancelled my order, but they have not cancelled the Paypal authorisation. I emailed and they GD me I had to contact Paypal which I did. Paypal say that if Gerard Darel does not cancel, I have to wait 30 days for the money to revert to my Paypal account! Not very happy as this showed as in stock and they took my money immediately but cannot be bothered to cancel the PayPal order.
I complained here before, but after I kept on mailing them, I got my refund. I have bought more Anna trousers which are the best.
I have order a skirt and paid immediately. When it did not arrive after 10 days, I called and was told they don't have it anymore and would reimburse me. Webshops are supposed to be up to date and not sell products that are not in stock. Bad customer service to not let me know.
