OVERCHARGED AND STILL WAITING!

This company overcharged me and I did not consent payment because I knew I only had a copay. So for 2 months I am waiting for my over $300 refund while they have MY money AND the insurance payment as well! This feels fraudulant! The person I spoke with on the phone was not helpful in the least.

Betsy, We’re happy to answer these statements about our billing practices.

When a patient signs up for their first session with Luna, we ask for a credit card. Luna explains to all patients that their credit card is required to cover the cost of deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance and late cancellation fees. The terms are also written in our Terms of Service. Many patients have deductibles that need to be met (they are generally reset at the start of every new year) before their health insurance begins to cover the costs of treatment. Providers, including Luna, collect payment to satisfy the insurance plan’s policy with respect to these deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, etc. When a patient signs up for their first appointment, Luna provides a courtesy benefit verification check. We email our patients this information so that they know how much of their deductible is remaining and what their co-pay will be, etc. We can assure you that none of these practices are negligent or fraudulent. In fact, Luna strictly abides to the terms of the contract that patients have with their insurance.

If you believe a refund is due, for example if you believe that your deductible has already been satisfied, Luna would need verification from your insurance company to confirm this. This practice is common and happens by the processing of claims that we submit to your insurance company on your behalf. Unfortunately, Luna has really no control on how quickly insurance companies process claims and sadly, the process can take several months. If the insurance company makes a mistake processing patient claims, those corrections can tack on extra time to the process. Rest assured, in scenarios such as these, once the insurance company sends Luna the processed claim, Luna will make adjustments and, if applicable, refund any of the patient responsibility that was outlined by the insurance company.

If you have any questions at all, we suggest calling our billing department at 877.390.6659, option 3 (Monday-Friday.) We’d be happy to go over this live on the phone and explain the process as it pertains specifically to your case.

Lied to me to get me to agree to service

When I called to inquire about physical therapy treatments, the woman on the phone flat out lied to me and told me that my co-pay would not exceed $45. When my 6 sessions were done, I received a massive bill. My second week appointment my therapist called in and no one from Luna contacted me to let me know she wasn’t going to show up. Everything about this company is a big fat zero other than the physical therapist who was contracted

Tonia, We have repeatedly explained to you that your insurance plan has something called a deductible. I'm sorry that you are surprised by this. It resets every year. A deductible is the amount of money you, as the policyholder, must pay out-of-pocket for covered medical services before your insurance company starts contributing to the cost of those services. Luna verifies your benefits as a courtesy to our patients and provides that information. Ultimately, patients are responsible for understanding their contracts with their insurance providers.

Very Disappointing

After someone came out to talk to me, I was dropped basically by the PT and was told that I would receive someone else. That was it for me. They were very unorganized and it felt very bait and switch. I have a disability, so I guess I was too much to handle, although I was fine for other PTs in the past.

The therapist only lived a few miles away. The office I spoke to acted like they couldn’t care less. It was a sad situation and I’m sorry to say I’m not interested in continuing with the company.

Mr. Marini, Could you please share your real name with me by sending it to info@getluna.com? We can't find your name in our system. Without reviewing your case, it sounds like the your first PT may have been a little too far from your house, prompting the PT to ask Luna to find a therapist who was closer. Perhaps initially, the PT accepted your case because it was on the outskirts of their delivery area and realized that a therapist who was closer would be a better fit. Our therapists have a territory that prevents them from driving more than 30 minutes from where they live. I can promise you that there was no bait and switch and that certainly, a physical therapist would not stop treating someone because of a disability. Our therapists have, on average, 10 years of experience and are all highly trained, credentialed, full-fledged physical therapists. It sounds like you may live on the outskirts of our treatment area and we’ve been unable to locate another therapist with availability in your proximity. Were you asked if you wanted to be placed on our wait list? Typically, patients are picked up off the wait list within a few days, although if you are father out, it may be a little longer. Regardless, we’d love to review your case to find out the real facts that have created this situation and do our best to rectify them. Please email us at info@getluna.com with your real name as your name here is not listed in our system. Thank you.

*********************
Mr. Marini, We see that you updated your review to include the information that you believed your therapist lived a few miles away. We'd really like to investigate your case, because this seems extremely atypical. We'd like to understand the reason why your therapist did not add additional appointments to your plan. However, we need your real name, because we cannot find the name you use here in our system.

Scammers! Do NOT call them to arrange home therapy! They took all my older clients info, then stated they did not have someone skilled to give her service??!! Then why the hell did they happily take all her private information???!!! SO mad I saw and called this place for her! 😡😡😡

Marie, Without knowing who your client is to be able to review their specific case, we would venture to guess that there has been a misunderstanding of what Luna offers. Luna is out patient physical therapy. Luna is NOT home health. Out patient physical therapy is a very different service than home health (HH.) If a patient contacts Luna believing that they'll receive HH services, then unfortunately, they may go down the path of providing their information, only to find that Luna is not licensed/capable to treat them. Luna is out patient physical therapy whose physical therapists focus on specific injuries or conditions. If you are a provider and would like more information, we'd be happy to discuss it with you - www.getluna.com/physicians.

I have worked with one amazing PHd…

I have worked with one amazing PHd holding physical therapist for two consecutive shoulder surgeries. Dr. Advent has been a true godsend, and helped me to get back almost full functionality of my SLAP tear repaired left arm (relatively recent surgery with continued final PT) and now right shoulder latarjet repaired right. There's no one else I would have trusted as much as I did her, with such a highly complex surgery's post op PT. She was thorough, pushed when I needed to be temporarily uncomfortable for the endgame benefit, and patient, answering my many questions. My surgeon is regularly delighted with my progress.

Luna does not deliver!

Luna does not "Practice what they Preach!"
Their website says "whether you are recovering from surgery or TRYING TO REGAIN STRENGTH AND MOBILITY, Luna makes it easy"
Well I need to REGAIN STRENGTH AND MOBILITY. I cannot stand. But
Luna says I am too "clinically complex" for their services. Guess they can't take a challenge!

Alannah Cullum: A highly skilled Therapist

Alannah Cullum is a highly skilled and knowledgeable Physical Therapist. The exercises she has taught me have resulted in a positive outcome--no more pain in my lower back on the left side. After her first PT session in my home, I knew I was in the hands of a very good and approachable therapist. I would highly recommend Alannah and will miss her twice-weekly PT sessions.

Stop if you’re considering Luna for PT…

Stop if you’re considering Luna for at home physical therapy do not consider this group! December 31 I was told I was having surgery February 11 full hip replacement surgery. My surgeon could do it in a surgery center and I’d be home that very day if I could schedule in-home physical therapy at the time that I got home. I scheduled with Luna. Surgery was successful. We waited all day for the therapist to come. “Ryan” the assigned therapist never came. I called and asked where my physical therapist was because he had not arrived. I had been discharged from the surgery center only because I had guaranteed that I had physical therapy at home. No one heard from Ryan. At Luna and no one cared that Ryan didn’t call in. A man by the name of “Jasmine”said he was sorry but there was nothing he could do about getting someone else out. I asked if he had tried to make contact with Ryan. He said he did not but if he heard from Ryan, he’d let me know. The next day I heard from a supervisor, who was trying to reschedule my missed appointment. I mentioned what had transpired and she was going to take care of things for me and get someone out Wednesday or the latest Thursday. Today is Saturday. I’ve not had a physical therapist visit nor heard back from them. I’ve not had anyone call me. I’ve not had anyone try to make up for the fact that I had the schedule since December and no one ever came. They can expect a lawyer to be contacting them because this was a health issue that they just didn’t care about the fact that I was discharged with a full hip replacement only because I had scheduled and was promised a physical therapist on the day I came back from surgery Did they even let me know and now 5 days later still no physical therapy. All the places I’ve contacted the area said that I should’ve been looking for a physical therapist months in advance which I had done we were scheduled by this Ryan and Luna. We were confirmed by this Ryan and Luna. I received a text message two days before that, this Ryan in Luna was coming. I was texted the morning of my surgery that they were coming And on Wednesday they didn’t come. Completely totally unacceptable and yes, they will be hearing from my lawyer.

**** I see that Luna responded to my review. No place to follow that response so I’m adding it here. They mentioned that they were trying to work with me. That there was an issue when they were trying to schedule something. I received responses and confirmations for pt services dating back to December. This is so untrue. No one tried to work with me. Not one got back to me until I called them. They said they tried to get services and possibly could in a week!! A week?!? Too Kate. The plan was when I came home. They just did not care. Everyone has been acting as if this is not a big deal. When a person‘s health is at stake and you’re dealing with a company that could care less promises were made that there would be someone here yo help. I received a surgery fiscarge based on that promise and based on that information. I should’ve stayed at the center the hospital or someplace where I would’ve been taking care of rather than come home and have this horrible company ignore the fact that they didn’t do what they said they were going to do and send anyone here to work with me to do PT. So don’t believe anything this company posts. They are anything that they said in the review answer by Luna don’t go there stay away from this company. I’m about to go on three or four more sites to warn people of the dangers of making promises that they will receive services that they were discharged from a hospital or a surgery center based on those promises and then they don’t follow through. Don’t believe things that anything they say don’t trust them. They are fraudulent and will be sued.

Ms. Baker, based on your review, we can guess that you are referencing a late cancellation fee. Our policy is repeatedly communicated to patients - over the phone when the first appointment is scheduled, as well as in every appointment reminder email and text. We charge late cancellation fees if a patient cancels an appointment in less than 24 hours of their appointment. Typically, if a patient has a good reason (sickness, hospital admission, etc), Luna waives this fee. Furthermore, if the patient reschedules that appointment, Luna generally waives the fee as well. We hope this sheds light on our policy. If it is something else or you have further questions, please contact our billing department at 877.390.6659, option 3 and they would be happy to go over any charges that you incurred that you believe were incorrect. Thank you.

Ms. Campero, We apologize for the delay in locating a therapist for you. Occasionally, based on your location, our therapists may be fully scheduled with other patients at the time and days that you would like to receive treatment. In those cases, we place patients on our waitlist and fortunately, patients are typically matched with a therapist who will accept an additional patient within 48 hours. We apologize that we have wasted your time; it was not our intent. We hope to have some good news for you today.

Mr. Khogali, We apologize that you had this experience. On rare occasions, a Luna therapist may become ill and instead of risking making others sick, will cancel their appointment. FRAUDULENT BILLING

Update: The Provider reached out to me directly within a day and explained a glitch in their system had caused all of this and they adjusted all balances.

Copy sent to the BBB: [This company is highly fraudulent in their Billing Department. I have had many arguments with them so they would bill the correct amounts that were agreed IN WRITING. For the last sessions which they forgot to bill me, once I was the one to ask them about it because I do not like having unpaid services in my records, they did not send me a bill until 4 months later when I actually requested for my medical records. Then they charged my card an outrageous random amount which I disputed with my credit card company with proof of documentations they reimbursed me. Then 4 months later they sent me another ridiculous incorrect bill at the end of the year and they started harassing me causing me a lot of emotional stress about it and finding all sorts of excuses that did not exist (such as "deductible" as that had already been met) or trying to use an explanation of benefits instead of what had been agreed AND PREVIOUSLY BILLED AND PAID FOR ALL THE PREVIOUS SESSIONS. The attachments include what they had agreed IN WRITING and what I had paid previously for 6 months, so why would 4 sessions all the suddenly be billed over twice that amount just because they feel like it? Attached was their own words and which they used for billing and that I paid for 6 months. I have also attached what the Insurance paid me for those last sessions, so they should only add the 20% on top of that as mentioned above. I want to pay my Bill, but for the right amount and at the same AGREED rate as before!!!.]

I thoroughly appreciate the treatment my Luna therapist gave me for a strained rotator cuff from November 2024 to the present. She always listened to what I said regarding the pain and was careful to massage and provide exercises that fit the status of my shoulder. I do not drive, so coming to my home was most important to me. As a result of her treatment, I am able to travel with little concern for my shoulder.
